Hey everyone,
I'm doing a research paper for my biology class on the flora of Io and its plausibility. Does anyone know how the traveler terraforms moons and planets. I have already been pointed towards this theory https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyLore/comments/acixfr/could_io_explain_how_the_traveller_terraforms/. Any help would be great.

Edited by O_Town_Racer: 1/27/2020 7:28:22 PMIt farts oxygen. That or it has it's own genesis matrix generator......

Naturally, but sometimes it fights against therapists.

It’s really just magic. The constellations lore book says that it dreams that it’s breathing wind and drawing rivers with its hand. No scientific explanation other than the traveler just gives the planet an environment

Space magic

Well light kinda of just breathes life. It brings homies back from the dead so it makes sense that it can just create life on anything. From the unveiling lore book, the traveler is literally called the gardener... so yeah.

I hope you have a broad-minded teacher or a really wide remit, dude. I'm a marine biology prof and most of my colleagues would stomp you faster than Rockets McDickface repelling a feather duster attack!

2 RepliesThe traveler is the most useless ‘thing’ in all of Destiny.

6 RepliesSorry if this is a bit long to read but I just wanted a good response as this is going to be academically utilised.
Well as we know the light can reanimate the dead (our guardian) over and over with just a little machine such as the ghost. We can presume that when it moves to a planet and releases the “light” to terraform it overall causes some major climate changes as it can simply create matter and energy from nothing. Take Mars for example, the cutscene showed rain. So it can brings water as a necessity for life. And despite proximity to the sun, it managed to create earthlike conditions on Mercury. Meaning it has to have some new incredibly insulating gas that can be controlled through the “light” and create a stable environment despite the suns energy. As for the biological makeup of these plants. Well they are mostly green, meaning chlorophyll and carbon makeup. But as shown by Mercury with its blue soil and orangey grass, it’s not unlikely for entirely new chemical editions of plantlife (non-carbon based life), all growing with similar structures to Earth-like plants. Io isn’t fully terraformed, but considering fossils are already in the ground, it’s plausible that the Traveler can create life from rock itself. Venus, is a better example, with lush tropical plantlife and volcanos (common nutrient rich areas), we can tell that it’s had a reduction in the amount of carbon in its climate. Enough so to transfer it to earthy like conditions for rich jungle life. Titan isn’t really viable because it’s not terraformed but there is still life there (however that could be hive and therefore new). Nessus has great examples of biological life, however could be Vex brought as there is also nothing saying the traveller terraformed that either. Hope this helps.

Because vidia game. Damn vidia games.
It just lands, farts out some magic space dust, and plants and atmosphere magically appear. 🤷🏻♂️

Pretty much just fills the "planet" with magic juice and it changes to be what it wants.

3 RepliesThe travler uses the DEEP. Compair the Hive structure to the Travler. It's like the force from Star wars. There's 1 force.....The Dark Side. It's how you use it. Darkness= 💥💥💥💥💥 Traveler= 🌱🌄⚒️⚔️✨

Well...the whole premise of light and dark powers is they are 'paracausal' meaning that the cause and effect relationship between what starts the ability/action and the effect/outcome cannot be fully explained by the laws of physics. Essentially you're not going to find any real scientific basis for how that happens...but depending on the situation of your project you may be able to find some traction for your idea by looking into a guy named Aurthur C. Clarke.

6 Replies<Unfortunately the Traveler, being a God of Light, doesn't really have a true and proper explanation. Chubby probably explained it best but it might just be a side-effect of the Light.>

You do know it's not real right? Just make it up.

3 RepliesI assume you’re doing research on the biology of destiny’s version of Io?

3 RepliesThe traveler is a machine, and it performs "Space Magic", don't try to be logical about it, it's just an approximation lol.
