Saint 14 said the following in his epitaph once you clear the 30th hall in the Corridors and enter the Vault.
"I've marked this grave with one of her favorite weapons, shattered in a final confrontation. It used to be mine. All who find what we've left here please leave it be."
I'll stop my quotation there. I don't have the quest text for the chronometric core. So i will present my honest reasoning and questions.
My question is this: was it Bastion that was left to mark our grave or was it the sword? The fact that our grave was found in the Corridors of Time creates further need for questioning. Why is our grave here? Why is tbis one point in physical space isolated and available only to the Vex and those capable of deciphering the never ending sequences of the Corridors? Are we to believe that a Fallen Captain was able to enter these Vex halls and steal the weapon, or are we to believe that our grave was accessible to the Fallen, plundered, and then through our own time meddling we were given a glimpse at this location?
Saint said that the weapon once belonged to him which could be an indicator that we are talking about Bastion but I still don't fully see how the lines connect. Was the core taken froman exotic Sword, Bastion, or some other source?
I'm aaking all of thos because the quest for the Bastion is now available from Saint (or will be soon). Will those who didn't clear the Corridors ever hear the speech given at our funeral? If they do not, then I believe that this speech could be a hint at something greater to come.
Please provide your feedback/input to help me understand.

Personally; I believe it’s the sword. It’s the only thing that physically marks the grave and chances are, Saint is bound to give us a sword some time in the future.

2 RepliesIt doesn’t specify what component he is setting the damaged connections straight with. If by component it means the Chronometric weapons core, then yes, Bastion is the weapon we were looking for, end of story. But what if they aren’t referring to the weapons core? since they didn't say it was the weapons core, and it kind of appeared from nowhere(we got it and then the game didn't mention it again) It could equally as likely simply be calling the non-functioning fusion rifle “the component” and if so, the weapon Saint referred to in the eulogy is not Bastion, meaning our Lord and Saintior has another weapon we have yet to find and he has yet to give us.

Saint had Bastion. Saint went to the infinite forest. Fallen found Bastion and died. We got Saint out of the infinite forest. We found Bastion. We die and Saint puts a weapon at our grave that is possibly Bastion.
separator between separate thoughts
We only used the corridors of time to go to the grave, our grave isn’t in the corridors. Think about how we came out of the corridors when we first met Saint, the walls of the corridors of time merged with the walls of vex structures on Mercury. Except with the grave, it was the floor, and a much smaller section.

1 ReplyBastion was stolen by a Fallen after Saint-14's disappearance in the past. We then recovered Bastion in the present, and Saint repaired it using the component we took from our own grave in the future. I don't think our grave exists within the Timelost Vault in the Corridors of Time, it merely allowed us to access that limited space from our own personal future. Perhaps the Vex were trying to find a way to defeat us based on our final stand defending The Last City?

I'm honestly not sure. Since we were buried WITH the weapon, but get Bastion from somewhere else, I think we just use the core for Bastion maybe? Hence why it can damage through shields.
