Hand held super nova is not fun to play against and broken

Generally I believe all one shot abilities in this game lack any sort of point. I dont agree with shoulder charge or the new one shot knife just as much as I disagree with Hand held super nova. However, hand held is uncounterable at times and that is super frustrating. There are many times where I fusion rifle/shotgun/side arm a warlock charging his super nova and he does not die. Doesn't matter how many bullets i put into his he just survives the gun skill and auto kills me with little to no aim. Making any character invincible while preforming a one shot ability is beyond stupid. If youre okay with this then why dont titan have over shields while preforming a shoulder charge or hunters become invincible though the whole knife throwing process? Overall i think it would be alot more healthy for destiny to remove one shot abilities for all classes. If trials were to come back it would force players into using only these subclasses and be super annoying.

  • On its own its not bad but with contraverse hold and 100 discipline it is awful. You get it every 30 seconds but contraverse hold regens energy on grenade hit (not kill) so you don’t even have to kill someone to get it back instantly after using it. Holding it also gives you almost roaming super level armour too.

      I want to say this here, because nobody talks about it. Currently, Class Abilities are tied to Class Stats. Hunters-Mobility, Titans-Resilience, Warlocks-Recovery. Mobility mods cost 3 Energy. Resilience mods cost 3 Energy. Recovery mods cost 4 Energy. I don't remember the exact numbers, but at fastest cooldown, Dodge is ready every 9 seconds, Barricade every 14, and Rift around 30 seconds. To me, the majority of Hunter mains do so because of the movement, the MOBILITY. I don't think anyone is sticking to that class because of the supers, though an argument could be made for Hunter neutral game. I think a lot of Titans choose that class because they can just rush you down and beat you to death. Again, to me, this makes Mobility hands down the most valuable Class Stat. And it only costs 3 energy. I say Resilience is next, because no matter how important Recovery might be, you can't recover if you're dead. Rift is THE WORST class ability in Crucible. It is also the most expensive to spec for while simultaneously javing the longest cooldown. Yeah, Warlocks are OP. Edit: before people start trying to argue about the strengths of Healing/Empowering Rifts, go use them in a Master 980 Nightfall Ordeal, then talk to me.

    • 1. The rest of the Nova Warp tree sucks. Leave HHSN alone. Otherwise make Nova Warp viable again. 2. MK 44 Stand Asides. Overshield while approaching for Shoulder Charge. 3. Void Battery. Only truly good on Hunters. There you go. All 3 classes can be protected during garbage maneuvers. Additionally, it seems to me that Hunters are the best all around Crucible class. Titans have plenty of BS (OEM, Mountaintop, Recluse, Suppresor Grenades). Blink being broken still is not being addressed. Bottom tree Dawnblade only really has a good super now, trash otherwise. Devour is the ONLY good thing about bottom tree Nova. On console, Hunter jumps are straight up OP. And to this day I STILL haven't gotten an explanation as to why Blink is the only jump ability in the game that has a punishment tied to it. No other jump ability has a cooldown. Warlocks are purposely crippled as opposed to other classes being made ever stronger--primarily Hunters. Stompees, Gemini Jesters, Knucklehead, Bombardiers, Dragon's Shadow, the list goes on. Please, live with the few strong things Warlocks actually have and enjoy the overwhelming strengths of the other classes. (Hunters still run Crucible, as did Titans before they attempted to reign in OEM again).

      • What I dont get is why titans have shoulder charge on all three sub classes. Hunters and Warlocks only have it on one.

      • Please let Warlocks keep the one thing that makes them even a little OP in the Crucible. Bungie caters so much to Hunter and Titans and nerfs the hell out of Warlocks that it's about the only saving grace they have outside of using and abusing one shot weapons (like Lord of Wolves, Jotun, etc.!)

      • Agree with this man. It’s handheld super nova WITH contraverse holds. One hit melee? Instant charge? No aim? Multi kill? No way. Hunters only one hit melee is the throwing knife and that is pure skill to use. Titan just has to run and shoulder charge. Handheld supernova is a joke. One more legend grind for the title and no more comp for me. Comp is terrible because of things like handheld super butt -blam!-. I’ll 1v1 any one and win but can’t do anything in the freelance playlist because of connection skill based bs. Idk where in going with this. Nerf hand held super nova and all the one hit melees in crucible actually. ITS A SHOOTING GAME!

      • I don't use Contraverse hold for this reason. Makes it too easy... invalidates any kind of skill involved with it. The throwing knife is a much more rewarding kill, IMO, and shoulder charges... idk. I've used them in the past, but I would only swap away from bubble titan for the suppressing effect of shield bash. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad warlocks have something that can compete with a shoulder charge of the throwing knife, but contraverse hold needs to not have that grenade return perk it has... kinda pointless on attunement of hunger anyway. and this is coming from a warlock main!

            • Lol no, movement speed is reduced and can't be held for ever, and the range isn't that great. Also have to use an exotic to gain extra damage resistances and can't regain the attack as quick as throwing knife or shoulder charge.

                • The best players don't use these "Dad Loadouts" like supernova, so I'm not worried about that in 3v3 pvp. It is, however very cheesy to run in 6v6 all day. I'm not killed by it very often, but I do think it's OP for sure.... and as a player who has mained all 3 characters, it's nothing like ohk shoulder charge or throwing knife. Even shoulder charge requires at least some skill to use, whereas supernova is stupid good and easy to use with gloves. Things like this only keep lesser skilled players engaged in pvp... at the cost of reducing their focus on GUN SKILL. Which is sad, because once players develop those skills they will stay in pvp longer than the fools who rely on seasonal skill tree crutches.

                      Maybe with Contraverse it's kinda cheesy. Contraverse takes away all the timing and risk of handheld. But normally I'd say it's fine. If anyone is gonna have a 1 shot grenade ability, let it be warlocks.

                    • Im a hunter main and i agree that ohko should not be invincible while casting. A freeking warlock can just cast his hhsupernova and run like an idiot making you waste all on him and getting killed at the end. The problem would be the exotic they using needing a nerf. I would be fine if it gave more grenade energy back but not the overshield . Also just a tiny bit less of spread on the hhsn grenade , it feels like they can just shoot it 5 feets away from you and can 1 shot you . Id remove some dmg if not direct hit. It would be fair , titan has to put themself in danger for their ohko and hunters have to aim. Then again , i would remove the aim assist that is WAY too high on throwing knife and id also remove the bouncing ability on it. Ive hit too many throwing knifes headshits around corners by shooting at the wall.

                    • woah invincibility for the entire throwing knife process is absolutly op, and overshield for titans is just stupid, it will encourage shoulder charging over gun fight in close quarter situations.

                      • I would agree that the skill + the exotic is cheesy, but not broken. I say that because the WHOLE CRUCIBLE is one big cheese fest. If one would get angry at my nerfed class using handheld supernova + an exotic armor slot, i could get angry at "you" just for being on the hunter class itself. Thats silly. The sandbox is the problem, no one gun, skill or class. It looks like everyone is asking for the double primary year one crucible back with all the one hit kill weapons in the power slot.
