Raids are a circus

Played a raid recently and they are straight circuses. Nothing but jumping through hoops and ridiculously stupid mechanics. It blows my mind people actually enjoy this garbage lol Edit, rewards were definitely not worth the effort
BIG SURPRISE
Edit Ok some people got butthurt and hung up on the fact that I generalized my comment to include all raids. Man what a trigger for some of you. LMFAO! The raid in particular was the Leviathan raid but honestly all raids suffer from ridiculous mechanics. How do I know this since my stats say I dont play raids much, ITS CALLED YOU TUBE! but nice try trolls
How do I know this since my stats say I dont play raids much, ITS CALLED YOU TUBE! but nice try trolls
Youtube is a poor substitute for real experience. But feel free to convince yourself otherwise, because we certainly won't try to stop you. My suggestion -- just let this thread die on its own, because the more you post from a position of ignorance, the greater the self-mutilation.

"THEY are straight circuses" Uh-Huh *checks raid-report* You've tried exactly one raid, Leviathan, on Normal when the game launched and then on Prestige 2 days ago. A raid which is *literally* supposed to be a circus-show for Calus. It's also the most mechanics-focused and least combat-heavy raid. ... It really is a galaxy-brain take to try ONE raid out of SEVEN, label raids in general garbage and "have your mind blown" about how other people enjoy them.

      • I strongly disagree. Raids is a thing Destiny pretty much always has nailed. Last Wish is phenomenal imo, GoS is really nice, same thing with CoS and SotP. Just my opinion tho :P

        • I have raided quite a bit, and I lean towards agreeing with you. They have become way too mechanics driven for my taste. Of course, there is a large contingency of players who prefer this over gunplay focused raids. To each their own. The token system is dumb though.

Such items tend to outclass their peers, so you have to 1) earn them and 2) win a lottery-level RNG test. So if you can't make it pass the raid circus, then you'll be on the receiving end of an Ahamkara death beam instead of dishing it out ;)

              • They're mechanics driven so that the number of players can be reliably kept up. Generally speaking you can't get through a raid without a fireteam, and preferably a full one. In Destiny 1 the mechanics were relaxed a little for croata' s end and it got completed by single players. That said it was my favourite raid so far because it was more accessible and I agree about mechanic driven raids

                      • I've practised soloing Shuro in the past, it was fun, but too much of a meta gear check for me to care. Then later I showed Riven to my girlfriend with the wishing wall, well we tried to solve the puzzle ourselves of course not expecting to kill Riven, but for a little thought experiment for fun. Well it ended up in me reading the solution from the internet. And just nah. Doesn't sound like something I'd be interested in grinding every week. I'm more of a skill/mobber player, I'm not much for sitting around doing callouts.

Most raids in D2 with the exception of Leviathan do have multiple defender/add clear/floater positions all of which are easily definable in their role and require little team work and only some communication between key roles. These mechanics are divided among teams of 2-3-4 so knowledge of the entire battle or even all of the mechanics isn't even really necessary since those mechanics are subdivided among many people working cooperatively and coordinated. Crota was a glorified strike and people are forgetting how long it took people to beat VOG when it first released. Granted it was destinys first raid, it was definitely challenging and cheesing and glitching has been rampant in this game since day one due to peoples inability to deal with complex mechanics.

                              • So far, it looks like you’ve only played actual runs up to Calus/Leviathan, so I’d only assume you’d have been running the Gauntlet given your post, unless you’ve actually tried your hand at the others. In any case, I get that frustration. Having gimmicky, and at times tedious, mechanics detract from enjoying the raids, but with what appears to be the only experience you’ve had from the D2 Raids, not really a whole lotta ground to back the gripe, let alone the saltiness from the other comments down the post. You play enough of the other raids and make an attempt to learn the mechanics and you are bound to find one that you might really enjoy, but griping about raids just because of experience with the equivalent of Y1 VoG in D2 isn’t going to get you anywhere.

                              • I mean a raid should have mechanics. Also what raid are you talking about where the rewards aren't worth it?

                              • OK folks, we have to face it -- not everyone is cut out for raids and other complex group co-op activities, and that's OK. However, keep in mind that raids are deliberately challenging because they have the best loot the game has to offer. So if you can go that extra mile and go from casual player to straight-up Star-Raider, then you will be rewarded handsomely for playing Bungie's end-game to the finish line. Even partial, incomplete raid attempts still net some crazy good gear, so the only way to really come away empty handed is to never try at all.

I like them. It’s the only thing that’s vaguely challenging in the game.

Disagree. Most of the D2 Raids are fun and top D1's. They are challenging and fun to do with friends. My favourite being Last Wish since its design and music overall are top notched. And the vault alone was pretty intense. D1 Raids were fun, yes, but today they are on public event levels (Templar in D1 basically is a Nessus style pillar defense) because D2 Raids require a bit more team work than the more easier D1 Raids. We got used to them, and even today many D2 raids are pretty "easy". Anyways, Raids are not everyones taste. So just skip them? P.S. The Leviathan basically IS a circus because it meant to be a thing to test guardians/other beings so they can become Calus' elite.

                              • They can be fun but the last raid i did was Kings Fall hard. I ran it a couple of times. Once some kids couldn't concentrate on Oryx so it took forever. Another time they just wanted to speed run so barely got to work my way through the parts like the jumping ship or the wall of man parts cause the just kept leaving me behind and pulling me through. In the end I just stopped playing D1 cause console also got dropped. But that soured me and i never did leviathan or the other ones. The most fun i had was just shooting shit in the Vault in the second encounter after you open the vault. where those oozy things came at you and you had to jump in the pool and cleans yourself. I like that cause it wasn't really mechanics just shooting stuff.

You joined halfway through a normal Leviathan back in October 2017 without getting a completion, then go into a Prestige Leviathan in January 2020 without any experience and complain that the mechanics are too hard. You have ZERO other raid experience in Destiny 2, why do you think it should be easy to get a Prestige raid done on your first attempt? Going to your Destiny 1 raid experience, you have 20 VOG clears, 63 CE clears, 3 KF clears, and 0 WotM clears. Notice a trend? The first 2 raids are very easy to carry teammates while the last 2 raids require a bit more coordination. I'm looking through those raids and you typically were at the bottom of the leaderboards, meaning you were likely carried through most of your raids. Look, if you aren't a raider, I don't care, but please don't try to make new raids cater to your play style (ie add control)
