I've been on the receiving end of this multiple times. Sentinel titan throws a shield in the room, said shield bounces off of walls 3 or 4 times to OHK me and 2 other teammates. I think the hit registration is fine but imo I think the shield needs to keep going the same direction if you hit or miss, not be rewarded for hitting a couple walls and getting a multi kill due to insane tracking after hitting the 1st target. And again trust me when I say I've been on the receiving end of this many many times.
Edit: I'm saying the shield projectile needs to A) Stay its course after hitting the 1st target.
B) Reduce tracking after the 1st kill, too rewarding/forgiving as is, should really be toned down
C) After first shield throw kill follow up shield hits don't ohk. Example: 2nd guardian hit left with 25% health and 3rd guardian hit left with 50%.
D) a combination of suggestions B and C.
This would strictly be a PVP NERF but still make the super viable.
Thank you commenters for some of your suggestions.
Edit #2: Tracking as most others in the comments have mentioned, starts to kick in after the shield ricocheted off a surface or guardian. My opinion is the the tracking is wildly aggressive after the fact. I want the the shield to revolve more around skill than luck and these suggestions promote that. And for those wondering I am a WARLOCK MAIN, idk why every other titan in the chat is assuming I'm a hunter main, sure he's neglected but I'll get back to using him eventually.

Edited by WulfPak666: 1/16/2020 12:45:36 AMAs a Float boy, my Titan comrade swore up and down that people over exaggerate the shields tracking. We were playing mayhem at the time so I decided to give it a spin. Never in my life have I ever just mindlessly tossed a super down a hallway and wiped the team. It was so bonkers especially with Doomfang that I got my first "Ran out of medals", "ghost", "unbroken" and I think even "7th column" just by tossing a shield down a hallway the whole game. So not only is my Titan friend a liar, but I am also convinced this shield has the most broken aim bot outside of cheaters on PC. Then he told me the melee bash has bad hit registration, to which I said, "why the hell would you bash someone when you can just throw it and kill everyone?"

Bungie can’t balance for shit. What they should’ve done is just upped the throw and shield speed significantly so you could more effectively bounce it around corners and get kills, while still retaining the skill aspect by keeping the tracking after bounce the same/removing it completely.
-
If you’d used it you’d know that sentinel shield tracking works against you just as often, if not more often, than it works in your favour. Sometimes you’ll get a multi kill, other times it will miss everybody by a mile and unles you’ve specced for it, that was your only throw, you’ve burned a bunch of your super energy and all enemies have run away from you and you don’t get a single kill because the super movement speed is slow as shit
-
2 RepliesFirst off the hit detection for shield is hot garbage. Second the throw is literally the only good thing about shield. Third hunters have nothing to complain about when they got barrage, golden gun, blade, and middle tree staff that is some how a better shield than shield.
-
2 RepliesBlade barrage is a joke as well. Instant death to everyone on the map (pretty much)
-
3 RepliesLol without the frisbee you could just run away from that super. Unlike spectral blades.
-
11 RepliesLet me guess... You play a hunter as a Main and have never used that super.... Another crybaby hunter that wants all that is not Hunter related to be nerfed...
-
4 RepliesTitans: can get easy ability kills without much skill Hunters: requires actual competency to get ability kills Warlocks: difficult to get any kills without handheld + contraverse and it’s still inconsistent and short range
-
1 ReplyNo, why nerf something because you die to it, and secondly, The Hit Registration is not fine at all, I have Hit a Hunter with a total of 5 Shield bashes and takes no damage at all
-
The shield is "ok" some times work some other times doesn't also the hit detection on melee is terrible in they do "fix" the throwing shield is gonna be one more bad subclass for Titans We already have to many hunters we don't want more
-
I just completed a match of Momentum Control, had 2 guys in a coridoor in a straight line of sight. I popped my Void Super, tossed a shield that should have killed both, it missed them and they one shot killed me. The guy in front was running right at me, the guy in back (a hunter) was crouched. It missed both. Other times, it works fine, but the Lag in this game and urine poor hit detection make it a joke.

This would definitely cripple it in both pve and pvp. The shield throw is a very strong tool and entirely unique to the super itself but it's not an invincible tool. It still requires a level of aim on maps that don't have close walls and sometimes it doesn't work at all. But when it does work it can be ridiculous. Personally would rather they not touch it as sentinel isn't used that much anyways in pvp and the super itself still suffers from very random things like blade barrage killing you through block or the same attack dealing no damage at all. Then the light attacks wiff people point blank or hit people you swear you didn't even get close enough to touch.
-
I agree with you but it’s also super inconsistent. It will kill 10 people or 0,in my experience.
-
It's hard at this point to justify any more nerfs. The game is already in a pretty bland spot.
-
...I think the shield needs to keep going the same direction if you hit or miss...
That's pretty much how it used to be at d2 launch. And it was junk. Horrible, bottom tier, filth ridden junk that everyone complained about. As is, you usually get 2 throws. 3 if you're on bottom tree. Often that's enough to secure 2 or 3 kills. Sometimes less, sometimes more. Just like most other supers, it relies on catching enemies bunched up in one area. The bash hit detection is unreliable. Blocking is nice but doesnt stop shutdown supers and has limitations on movement. Without shield tracking sentinel super would be sun baked garbage. Sure it feels bad to be killed by a ricocheting frisbee when you know you weren't the target, but it's no worse than being collateral damage in a nova bomb, blade barrage, hammer explosion, stormtrance, tether, or whatever else kills you by sheer luck.
-
2 RepliesNo more nerfs
-
As opposed to fvcking Blade Barrage which kills you behind a wall and around corners!? This is ridiculous that you are complaining about the shield throw when other supers are way more crazy than this one. It's actually pretty fair right now. Might be a touch too long, but I think it's pretty solid.
-
22 RepliesOh SHUT UP! There's no tracking on the Titan shield throw! I ought to know, I main a Titan! Let me guess, a Hunter main made this post?
-
1 ReplyEdited by One Shot Ted: 1/14/2020 10:34:41 PMSo long as the tracking nerf exclusively affects PvP, I'm cool with toning it down. Leave it alone in PvE, though. Sentinel is weak enough as it is.
-
Best moment of my d2 pvp experience is deflecting the frisbee with arc staff right back at the sentinel titan and then it continues to kill two of his teammates lmao.
-
2 RepliesBut sentinels want to feel like captain America even though their skill & aiming is trash
-
4 RepliesI see people throw it and annihilate entire teams, but I'll throw mine and it usually hits a wall and bounces straight up and off the map.
-
24 RepliesEdited by Cheebruger: 1/13/2020 6:20:31 PMOne of the times I actually played on my Titan I was running out of my super, so I chucked a Frisbee at a wall. Keep in mind, I didn't have a single player even on radar. The thing got a triple kill. Nothing should be that brainless.
-
2 RepliesBUNGIE needs people to play titan and warlock Otherwise it's just us hunter hopety hoping around! how to do that ? Simple! Give them brocken abilities and exotics Oem, contraverse, arc web, shoulder charge, sentinel shields, dawn blade and striker being brocken for a FÜCKING YEAR When ever they buffed hunter it was some kind of a meme buff (warrior melee , lol tether, lol goldi...) but titans and warlocks get the cheese to the death Just this season we got a 1hk knife that requires a headshot with winding time, does hand held and shoulder charge require headshots ? Sick right ?
-
12 RepliesEdited by ibattlemike: 1/14/2020 12:30:44 PMnerf that and nerf hunter's barrage....crap goes around walls to get me. Then nerf titan's middle class hammer...like wtf...that fire goes up super high I guess...I'll be way up in the air and apparently that fire went high enough to kill me. Just nerf all supers to the ground. j/k
-
4 RepliesFacts, it’s tracking seems more aggressive after a bounce than it does on initial throw.
