The single best thing they can do is make you register a phone number when you make an account, and if you try to use the same number from a banned account for a new account it automatically gets banned. This is how Valve’s VAC system works and it prevents the creation of new accounts to avoid ban. The problem is banning people does not do anything. You account ban someone and they can make a new account since it is free to play. You IP ban and they can VPN or have their IP changed. You hardware ban and they can HWID spoof. The only thing stopping cheaters from cheating is the possibility of them getting bored from making new accounts, other than that they can dodge bans until the end of time. I don’t even bother reporting people anymore because it doesn’t solve the problem in the long term. Best case scenario more people start cheating and the problem becomes so severe that Bungie can not continue avoiding it.
