More Than One Item Was Silver Only This Dawning. Lied To Once More
So last month we were told that we were going to see all but the perfect 10 finisher would be available for bright dust. This can be seen in the TWAB 12/12/2019 which can be found [u][b][url=https://www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/48573] HERE[/url][/b][/u]. Now with the exclusion of the perfect 10 there was 35 other items that were put into Eververse for the dawning. Over the course of the event, just for shits and giggles, decided to track what was available when. To double check everything I also went to YouTuber [u][b][url=https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLkn_-de-pc3IvgKKIytZXQUlJLL4myyUs]GymHasafit Gaming[/url][/b][/u]'s weekly videos (Videos for 12/17/2019, 12/24/2019, 12/31/2019 and 1/7/2020). With this being the last week of the event, looking at the list which can be found [u][b][url=https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/621628592215818252/665058363612200970/unknown.png]HERE[/url][/b][/u] for each item, if they were available, when they were, and their bright dust price. As of now Thursday January 9th, 2019 9:34:43 PM PST the following 6 items have not at any point been available for bright dust.
- Frostveil Bundle
- Winterhart Bundle
- Protecting Teammates
- Giving
- Winter Lotus Shell
- Home Away
While to many, I'm guessing, this is no big deal, and I'm probably going to have a lot of people being negative in the comments. This to me at least is just another example of how hollow Bungie's word and for that matter their actions have been and will continue to be. Something as small as this, they can't even manage to do.

1 ReplyThey did say that past Dawning items would still be silver only. All the new stuff was available for bright dust at some point. The same thing happened with FOTL. I'm really sorry you misinterpreted the posts or did not read the relevant posts. But they did what they said they would do.

Also, from the TWAB: "Weekly and repeatable Dawning bounties also grant Bright dust, giving you more sources of this currency for [i][u]new items [/u][/i] on the Eververse storefront." That means that this DOES NOT include the items you listed, as they are not CURRENT or NEW. That is obvious to anyone who doesn't look through a biased lens. If you interpret it any other way, you're only doing so to make the post fit your narrative. Plain and simple.

It looks like Bungie covered themselves on this one. I do still think that it’s pretty poor not to drop the old items into the bright dust pool as well (even though I already have them from older events).

We shouldnt be shocked, Bungie have lied and pulled shady tricks many times when it comes to eververse. The very fact that eververse is updated more than any other part of the game shows where thier priorities lie - integrity be damned, they are making money and don't give a sh1t.

The issue isn’t that you can’t earn the stuff via bright dust, it’s that you can’t earn the stuff “in game” - remember D1Y3 when ornaments, sparrows, and shaders dropped from completing activities instead of having to go back to the tower after completing a checklist to buy them from eververse? Anyone? Destiny currently lacks a rewarding experience and it’s because all the “cool loot” is locked behind a paywall. Even if we can buy it with bright dust that doesn’t make doing nightfalls, strike playlist, crucible, or even the seasonal activity feel like they are rewarding me for my time spent playing them 🙄

I mean, if we’re talking overall cost then yes, I’d say the majority of expensive items were silver-only. Honestly, get the stuff you want if it’s something you really want. Trying to collect every single item from Eververse is just going to end up being a very expensive field trip.

Honestly, I enjoyed the dawning this year. EXP bounties being doubled was awesome. The sparrow is neat. The armor looks pretty good for the most part. And the fact that it’s an event where we just play the game rather than have to grind out a redundant activity like the Haunted Forest is very nice. My complaints have to do with the same issue we’ve been having: Bright Dust Economy. We hardly get any bright dust and when we finally have some saved up, it’s still not enough for all three, much less ONE set of the new events armor. Would love to have the sets for Titan and Hunter, but 6000 BD for Each set is ridiculous in this economy.

They gave somewhat of a percentage on what would only be Silver cost and what would be Bright Dust. You misheard it sounds like. Plus a good bunch of it all was available through Bright Dust. I got everything I wanted so far.
