STOP the Nightfall timer when the boss dies!!!

We just lost a 100k Nighfall run because the time (and therefore the score) kept ticking down while Ghost and Zavala chatted about Odzot. very not cool Bungie.     • Im seeing a lot of excuses for why they shouldn't fix this. "Go faster" "Your doing something wrong" "Stop running with randoms" Guys this isn't a fair response and is just rude to say the least. I don't see any issue with getting the timer and points to stop after the boss is dead. Is that NOT the point of the nightfall? Kill boss then your done? Dialogue should not be a reason someone loses a 100k nightfall.. Thats just bad coding. They SHOULD fix this. It's the LEAST they could do.

      • Can lose up to 100 points while they babble after the boss is killed. It is mind blowing the amount of things in this game that just don't work. Look at all the season 9 triumphs that are broken. I gave up weeks ago trying to figure out why they are not fixing content that matters.

        • What's worse than what you mentioned is the fact that some nightfalls start you so far back in areas where 0 points are awarded until you get to a certain area to keep you from padding your score in lost sectors. Like seriously, cant you just start us far enough forward so our first 2 minutes aren't for 0 score?

        • Lol some friends and I found out that you can still gain points even during the end of strike timer. He placed a ward and I placed a well. We still got points for picking up orbs.

        • I had to speed run a nightfall twice for the mega rare "after the nightfall " emblem as the clock put us three seconds behind the time needed. Lots if swearing whilst we waited for the bloody thing to stop 😡😡😡

          • This sounds like it has a simple solution: the timer only runs while the team can score points. It wouldn't start until the first area that kills begin to add to your point total has loaded, and it would end as soon as the boss dies and points can no longer be earned. In this situation, score decay would probably need to start earlier on the timer, since you would effectively be shortening the strike for the purpose of truer scoring. Bungie came up with the current system in response to score farming (back when killing enemies in lost sectors and public events during a nightfall would count towards your score). It's definitely not perfect, but the current system does the job. Scores are legit now. It's just frustrating when you see a score dip below a certain threshold due to decay during dialogue. Hopefully, Bungie will address this in the near future.

            Personally I feel like it shouldn't start at the beginning of the mission either but rather when we can start earning points. For example in the Inverted Spire Nightfall (the one with the giant cabal drill spinning in circles towards the end before the boss) you loose about 1.5-2 minutes at the beginning, getting to and killing the vex or cabal guarding the pillar for the jumping blocks, getting across them, jumping through the launcher ring, getting to the second section, kill or running passed all the enemies between you and the second launcher ring, and running to and getting passed the loading screen to the are in which you can finally start earning points. That 2 minutes can make a big difference.

              • And start the timer when you can actually score and not when the strike/nightfall starts! Some can take up to 2 or 3 minutes before you can get points even though there are enemies. I know it's that way because players go into other activities to get more points, but it would be better to start the timer later in the strike/nightfall.

                • The Corrupted nf is the worst with what seems like 45 seconds of small talk after boss goes down.

                  • Same here in Nightmare Hunts. Wanted to do a 980 time trial, killed the boss in time, but it continued running and stopped after time trial Limit was reached…. very frustrating….

                    To be honest just do the Master Nightfall. It’s really not that bad and the points you earn for it more then compensate any mess ups along the way. This weeks current nightfall can be completed in around 20 mins average with every single champion defeated and you will average around 180-200k score guaranteed. A few runs we even had a guy that had no champion weapon mods or armor mods and we still completed it in 20. We did talk between ourselves about how the timer should stop as soon as the boss is dropped but didn’t dwell on it due to our points being so far over the requirement.

                  • Beat it and earn the gear as it is, there is no reason to change the rules of this nightfall cause you fall slightly short. Simply do better. Cause that's what I do when I fail. I don't say, extend timer, lower score requirement, or other. Note based on my experience in this nightfall you were likely farming non stop boss adds at 920 light level to end up at just over 100k and shoulda built more buffer. A run through at 950 level earned an easy 140k. Soooo.... plenty of options here to hit that 100k threshold.

                      CMIIW Doesn't the timer stop when that "Mission Complete" banner appears? If that's the case, then it's just a concept by design. It's basically meant to be like that. I'm not sure that detail can be adjusted...wait... Someone help me here, doesn't the timer have a stop function with the Extinguish modifier on? I'm thinking back to D2Y1-ish. Like the timer runs out and you're booted to orbit. I remember doing a Prestige Nightfall and getting an achievement before the timer ran out with one second left, it did stop the moment the boss died...because I would have been kicked to orbit otherwise. I forget when in D2 that was.

                      • Well, you CAN cap 2 of the 3 plates and infinitely spawn enemies for score in the 920 version if that's the one you're doing, but you have to finish the boss in under 15 minutes. Otherwise, you're going to want to go for 100k in the 950 at least. If you're cutting THAT close, gotta be faster.
