Well I'm done Bungie!

I'm fed up with your shit. I deleted my characters and the game because I'm sick of the constant shitty ass grinding and crappy changes you guys made to the game and keep making to the game. Destiny 1 was the best game of this franchise. Destiny 2 completely destroyed everything it built. You guys ruined everything I liked about Destiny. I spent who knows how many hours playing this game but no more. It was a decision bound to be made sooner or later. You guys ruined raids by over complicating them with too many mechanics and adding stupid tokens for revives. Raids should have stayed the way they were in D1 (fun, not stressful). I went from practically doing raids every week in D1 to doing less than 5 complete raids in D2 these past 2 years. Strikes and Nightfalls should have stayed the way they were in D1. Crucible should have stayed the way it was in D1. This new battle pass bull shit grind every season is what really pushed me over the edge. It pains me to leave because there are so many unanswered questions but I am just burnt out and over it.

    • I feel you man, the only thing left in this game I still enjoy is Iron Banner. Honestly, I wasn't even going to play any Iron Banner because of the BS quest that locks out being able to get armor or being able to use your tokens, but a friend of mine talked me into playing with him. I had fun, but now I'm done until the next IB roles around. Even if I "quit" I wouldn't delete my characters. I'm not going to lie... I'm still holding out hope that one day maybe the game returns back to what it was in Age of Triumph year 3 D1. I'm delusional, I know...

    • There's literally no point to it anymore. Bounties are boring AF. The raid is boring AF, crucible is boring AF, strikes...lol don't get me started on those. I think I seriously need to find a new game. This just isn't fun anymore, sadly.

      • I hear ya. I really enjoyed D2 before 2.0 and this season crap. I know some people enjoy it but to someone that wants to play casual, I feel like the seasons have become a full time job and it’s stressful. Since this new season began I’ve been barely played.

        • If I weren't a secret optimist, I wouldn't be here still. ;) But even if I were happy with D2 (which I'm not), it's not like Bungie are going to keep the servers up just for me, so I have a duty to care about the concerns of other players as well as my own. And that's what I don't understand about all the people going "don't let the door hit your ass on the way out"-type of thing whenever a player quits the game: Bungie aren't going to keep the game running indefinitely if people start leaving the game and more players aren't there to replace them. Destiny 2 is like any online-only game: it's like a small city, and while no one notices when a few people go move to a different city, when there are fewer people coming into the city than are going out (and of course, no one is born here), eventually the game is going to have activities that are designed around full fireteams that will no longer have full fireteams, and without any bots to take the place of missing fireteam members, many of those activities are no longer going to be playable, except perhaps to the hardcore veteran few who may be able to solo such activities. And once an online-only game loses a critical mass of players, or there is a mass exodus, or simply lose too many players to keep activities and queues sustainable, there aren't going to be enough players playing the same activities at any given time for anyone to be able to call this game 'multiplayer'. No one is going to play an online multiplayer game without a population, and the game will turn into a virtual ghost town as what's left of the playerbase dies out, moves on. It serves no one to cheer when people quit (well, except cheaters, they can go jump in a lake).

          • Another satisfied customer? On Monday a new light player posted why he was leaving. On Tuesday one of the hard core calls it quits. Both don’t like the direction the game has taken. Both have valid points for leaving. Seems like a mass player exodus is upon us.

I believe D1 was the closest to Joe Staten's vision, even after they mangled it and that's why it was the best. Then they started taking the game in the wrong direction. Now, not sure what the plan is but it seems they need to resurrect the original ideas of this game that Joe had or it's going to be a footnote. I'm barely hanging on myself, I play and I'm not even sure why. Maybe it's to finish a few quest I never did.

            • Game is absolute shite right now, hell, D2 with the exception of Forsaken (not produced by Bungie by the way) is a yard sale, feels like a circus... it’s fun for a short bit, but then you realize how lame, disjointed and broken it truly is.

I didn't even buy the season pass. Season of Undying was what obliterated my remaining faith in the game as well. You can bet your ass that I nabbed the Righteous Set and Symmetry for free at Rank 35 though. Played around with it in Escalation Protocol aaaaand... uninstalled. Wake me up when the Pyramids come and cause a second collapse.

            • I didn’t play D1 but hated D2 raids from my first because of these mechanics. After my wife couldn’t get season pass content, because she didn’t play a lot, I am really close to your decision right now. This game not provide, it require. Wanna nightfall - go find team on LFG Wanna raid - go find team on LFG Wanna content you payed for - play minimum 2 hours each day or you will lose it permanently. Wanna look better - pay $20 Wanna this gun - go play broken PVP Wanna mods you already got but for new armor - go grind from start.

            • Congratulations on your new found freedom. We should all celebrate when another player leaves this game as it is like overcoming an unhealthy addiction. And it feels great! Leaving Destiny is one of the best feelings ever. More players should try it.

            • Usually I just respond with a simple "bye" since I could care less about people leaving the game with petty complaints, but this post is too rich for me to pass up responding to.
I'm sick of the constant shitty ass grinding and crappy changes
What specifically constitutes "shitty ass grinding and crappy changes"? I'm guessing you are talking about the Seasonal updates, specifically Undying and Dawn. To an extent, I don't entirely disagree, these content drops are pretty light from a content standpoint and have objectives to grind for whether it is Triumphs to complete, weapons to obtain, etc. Now let's compare this to Destiny 1. What content updates did we get between The Taken King and Rise of Iron? The answer of course is the infamous "April Update" which would barely constitute an update by D2's standards. It has 2 story missions, 1 strike, and a reskin game mode that got old after about a month. You say these updates are bad, but you are comparing it against a game that didn't have these type of updates at all. Do you remember all of the constant content droughts of D1? I remember getting very bored of the game in February 2016 and having very little to do from then until September 2016, over half a year later! I would have killed for an update like Season of Dawn during that time.
Destiny 1 was the best game of this franchise.
The question of quality of content is always up for debate, however, I think most people are blinded by nostalgia. Towards the tail end of D1, all you would hear is people complaining about the game and wanting something new in D2, then D2 launches and people complain about the lack of content in a brand new game which is not a fair comparison at all. There are parts of D1 that I really enjoy, but I personally enjoy the gameplay and abundance of activities in D2.
I spent who knows how many hours playing this game but no more.
https://wastedondestiny.com/2_4611686018429153623 2000 hours is a pretty decent amount, is it possible that you burned yourself out?
You guys ruined raids by over complicating them with too many mechanics and adding stupid tokens for revives.
This reason for not liking raids in D2 is just rich. You were probably the player that would always call 'add duty' and never learn any of the mechanics. The raids in D2 are incredibly easy, you just have to learn how to do them. If you didn't want to take the time to do that, maybe you aren't actually a raider.
Strikes and Nightfalls should have stayed the way they were in D1.
I would have agreed with you up until Shadowkeep. The new difficulty system with Nightfalls makes them an actual challenge with enticing rewards. Nightfalls are definitely in the best place they've been in Destiny's history. It would be nice to have Strike scoring back, but that's pretty minor.
Crucible should have stayed the way it was in D1.
The fate of Crucible in D2 is a testament that listening to the community is NOT always a smart idea. When D1 was towards the end of its life cycle, all you would hear is that 4v4 is the more competitive game mode and that Destiny should have it. Bungie listened and it led to the downfall of Crucible at D2 launch. Given the bad start, I think Crucible is in an okay place, but much room for improvement.
This new battle pass bull shit grind every season is what really pushed me over the edge.
If the battle pass pushed you over the edge, you need help. With the amount of time you play, getting rank 100 is not a grind, you can get it just by playing the game. I got rank 100 just this past week without doing any sort of bounty farming or shared wisdom teams. I just played the game and got it done. Also, how is having a system that provides extra loot by leveling up a bad thing? It's nice to have reasons to level up for a change.
It pains me to leave because there are so many unanswered questions but I am just burnt out and over it.
bye

If you were really done you wouldn't have posted this. You would play something else and never look back. Your like that girl who just watch her boyfriend get carried away by the police. You talk the talk now but he'll be out this weekend and back in your house. My guess is you may last a couple a weeks before downloading d2 again

                • Yeah, until they figure out how to make raids that welcome everyone, this game is headed to it's death sooner rather than later. Too much content locked behind team made wall. Very few people like to use LFG. Most the people who recommend LFG do not actually use it. In their zeal to protect their exclusive loot they are killing the game off. Trials being more elitist content will be the coup de grace.

I guess even the BDF are starting to slip. At least at the time I'm responding, this post has 35 upvotes. Usually, these types of posts would've been down voted into oblivion and the BDF would be carving "Hail Bungie" into your front door as we speak. I'm taking a break from D2. The Final Assault was my breaking point, yet another excellent job by Bungie's marketing team to massively over hype something in order to ensure players would be left disappointed. I logged back in to try the Dawning and see how the Christmas event was going, saw that 99% of it was locked in the Everse shop, logged out, and haven't been back on since. Bungie's FOMO tactics, paired with their desperate attempts to suckle the "content creators" at the expense of their community has turned the game into an absolute chore that's left me with zero rl friends who play and no desire to play myself. And yet, here I am on the forums again. Hoping that the new year will bring new resolutions from Bungie to do better and bring Destiny back to the days where it was actually fun to play. My brain knows it won't happen, but the Destiny fanboy in me, who grew up on games like Halo, just refuses to die despite Bungie's best efforts to put him down.
