Awesome video from a Youtuber called Castle that scientifcally proves that hand cannon targeting mods do absolutely nothing.
Maybe this is a hand cannon problem, and other targeting mods work....
But the video cannot be disputed and is of very high quality. Watch!
The quality of the video is better than every other youtuber I have seen in terms of the methodology.
p.s. in the comments someone suggested spare rations has high Aim Assist already and "goes over a cap" and he states he tested this with a low AA HC and got same results.
Edit: to those stating that pc/mouse has no aim assist you are 100% wrong. Mouse does not have "sticky" aim, but it has bullet magnetism that is identical on mouse and controller. Which is billets curving towards enemies. This is what targeting mods are supposed to do, as well as moving target, and the hidden aim assistance stay.
Pc/mouse/controller/console is meant to make no difference to the functioning of the targeting mods which purely focus on bullet magnetism, which is also part of "accuracy" in destiny. This is not me, this is Bungie's design and is widely accepted with those with understanding of the game mechanics.
The guys experiments are perfect and those who doubt them are just plain wrong and need to do some more reading. Sorry.

Edited by Lord Araphel: 12/30/2019 11:56:35 PMThis video proves nothing and shows exactly why he is a low end youtuber. Targeting mods work and this video is a colossal waste of time it doesn't even show anything. Poor evidence and non credible source. Dude is just talking with pictures I'm pretty sure a child could come up with something better.

If I worked on this game at Bungie I'd probably jump off a bridge before reading through these imbecilic arguments. Rip

2 RepliesHeres how i refute it. He did the tests for 10 shots without even showing us the tests. His numebrs could easily be made up.
-
2 RepliesYet targeting mods are effective on console... And do actually help... This is biased to pc
-
3 RepliesSo what you're saying is increase HC bloom?
-
1 Reply"Scientifically proves" lmao
-
Scientifically
-
Not surprised in the slightest, game is pretty broken right now with all the bugs, it wouldn’t surprise me if half our stuff doesn’t work as intended, bungie have clearly stopped with any kind of quality control.
-
1 ReplyMy arbalest and enhanced linear fusion targeting made getting Komodo a breeze. Maybe hand cannons are just in a good spot.
-
Of course they dont work right with bloom and p2p connections.
-
2 RepliesIf he’s on pc then the video proves nothing, no recoil or aim assist on pc, so yes a targeting mod would do nothing
-
1 ReplyEdited by michael: 12/28/2019 10:47:39 PMI dont know what targeting does to aim assist but the difference between no targeting, targeting, and enhanced targeting is very noticeable at every interval in terms of ADS speed, at least from my testing with snipers and hand cannons. I havent scientifically tested frame for frame, I’ve just used them in game and tried them and it’s definitely a difference

13 RepliesWell, he failed to mention or take into account that Bungie said stacking the same mod would result in diminishing returns. He also didn’t test a controller on PC or a console version. He also failed to test any other hand canons — not to mention labeling his video with ‘broken targeting mods’ without testing anything other than a HC. I would say this is a possible starting point, but this video in no way proves targeting mods don’t work. All it showed me was Bungie isn’t going to make aiming with a M+K any easier than it already is. But if I put my tinfoil hat on for a minute, I could wrap my head around the idea that the game is one giant placebo effect. Resilience does nothing, ammo finders do nothing, most of the stats feel made up, most of the perks on weapons don’t have any noticeable effect. Either Bungie is selling us one big social experiment, or they just aren’t good at coding the game.

16 RepliesWhy do people blindly believe things on YouTube like idiots?
-
3 RepliesI'm still gonna be using them because I feel like more shots land if i do that. Placebo effect probably
-
It's not that they do nothing? It's that they make it harder to hit ...
-
Targeting mods only grant +5 aim assist. It is barely noticable but it is there. It is not like all of a sudden you have a magic tracking pistol. It is only 5 extra aim assist. Austringer and sunshot differ by 15 aim assist...sunshot being the lower of the 2. Yet sunshot feels like it has more magnetism.
-
hes on pc. nuf said
-
If you’re good you don’t need aim assistance
-
1 ReplyEdited by JazzyPaladin477: 12/29/2019 3:04:27 AMI suspect that targeting mods probably make more difference to retical stickiness then accuracy improvement.
-
I like tangible improvements, like backup mag

1 ReplyI can’t watch this video This dudes eyes are TERRIFYING
-
Because Bungie has this thing where you only get "a little bit more" on perks, instead of making the weapon or armor piece one worthy of a demi god. That is what I enjoyed with gearsets in TD1, you can get this hugely imbalanced dps or skill based builds with the right mods that made a huge difference. Sure it was broken, but fun nevertheless.
-
5 RepliesMeh, i see a huge difference when i put a targeting adjuster on nf. Probably the dude is on pc?
-
It feels like an issue with all targeting mods on PC. Idk about console but last season targeting mods felt like they made a huge difference and now this season i feel more inconsistent with them vs without 🤷🏼♂️

3 RepliesThis is a really well thought out video. I have thought that some targeting mods are a placebo for a while now and based on my own experience think they do not work for any precision weapons at all. Whether that's a bug or is intentional I couldn't say, but don't waste your mod slot on one if you are running precision weapons you will not notice any difference at all.
