Crucible Pinnacle Weapon Reworks

Pinnacle weapons are in a weird spot right now. I think Bungie was originally trying to make them feel exotic as a legendary weapon, but now they just feel like ever-so-slightly above average weapons. Personally, I think they should be high risk, high reward weapons. Powerful, but only in the right skillful hands. Take Redrix’s Claymore/Broadsword for example: an unforgiving archetype that’s outclassed in almost every way by aggressive frame pulses- until desperado is proc’d. [b]Luna’s Howl/Not Forgotten[/b] -make 180 rpm again -Magnificent Howl only procs on the next precision hit -Magnificent Howl only does 100 damage to the head -No body-shot multiplier with MH -Reduce aim assist value Note: when the beef was announced, I got the vibe that the main issue Bungie had was that it could two-tap if you cleaned up another guardian with the first 2 shots. This should bring back the 3-tap, avoid the 2-tap conundrum, and make those 3 taps require more skill [b]Recluse[/b] -Return Master of Arms precision damage to pre-2.7.0 -Body-shot damage does not change between default damage and MoA damage (no bonus from MoA) -MoA can only proc off of other weapon kills Note: Recluse right now is pretty balanced. It has a lower damage bonus than KC, trading it for ease of use. However, I prefer my pinnacles high risk, high reward. [b]Revoker[/b] -change Reversal of Fortune to return 1 round to reserves upon a precision kill Note: Revoker in and of itself is ok for balance, but it feels like a training sniper than a real pinnacle. A perk that rewards hitting your shots is much more appropriate

    I don't think any of the pinicles are really op at all except revoker. Luna/nf are really good cuz 150 HC are just the best primary right now and the have the best range/recoil, not op tho. None of the other ones except recluse and wendigo are even close to meta right now for pve. The rest could use a buff honestly. The komodo is a disgrace.

    • Pinnacles should’ve just been left as is, period. They were the best weapons for a reason and not everyone had them. Now you have these watered down “ritual” weapons that are stupid easy to get. After the nerfs to Luna’s/NF and now Recluse, I feel like my efforts were crapped on all because people complained (most didn’t even have the weapons)

      • I disagree on Revoker. Revoker is one of the harder snipers to use. It seems easy to use only because it has the best scope you could ask for on a sniper.

        • I don’t think Revoker should be a high impact sniper. It’s literally sniping on training wheels

            • I had finally obtained Luna’s howl in season 8. Unfortunately since it was nerfed it didn’t perform as well as I hoped in PvE where I like to play. I kind of wish they could have just made the changes on the PvP side and kept it the same for PvE. The Revoker I think is perfect as is. True it feels like a “Sniper For Dummies “ fun but that’s pretty much me. It’s my go to sniper for my PvE outings. Recluse still feels like a beast so I don’t really have a problem with it. I don’t use Redrix much but it is pretty fun when my aim is on point during strikes and such. PvP i hardly make use of its perk to utilize it. It’s situational because I’ll kill someone and then no one else is around to use Desperado on. The only thing i wish is that you could pull these originals from collections (like you do now) but get random rolls on new versions. Unfortunately Redrix is the only one that drops with one perk column change. On a side note I love the looks of all four of these weapons. From an aesthetic point of view they’re some of my favorites.

            • I know I’m not the only one but I enjoy LH/NF being a 150, 180s do shine but I just don’t like them they’re too spam happy. As it is the fire rate is plenty and allows you to spam pretty unforgivingly too as a 150rpm. Spamming was also the issue pre nerf so going back to that wouldn’t be that cool.

              • I agree with the revoker change. The other two I think are fine right now. I know a lot of people want Luna/not forgotten brought back but that could be playing with fire and create a new terror

              • I agree... Luna just dosent feel right at 150... Plus my new 180 with kill clip is basically pre nerf Luna so I don't see the point in keeping it nerfed.

                  No, the reason LH/NF were nerfed was to remove the 180 RPM 3-tap. It was too much. Those handcannons outclassed every other HC thanks to the optimal TTK that was easy enough to hit. You are right in that redrix is a good example of a proper pinnacle; high skill floor with the highest TTK potential in that gun type (high impact pulses actually have the lowest optimal pulse rifle TTK even without desperado). Pvp pinnacles in general were a mistake. Bungo proved consistently that designing balanced enough pinnacle perks / guns was too hard for them. The results wrecked the meta for months at a time. Moving away from pinnacle guns was the right call. It's better for the sandbox health overall from past examples. Personally I think it's best let sleeping dogs lie on this. Move on and forget the pinnacles. Focus on making pvp rewards and incentives through other means. While at it and whatever they may be, also make them recurrent so that they aren't one-off sorta deals per season. A recurring incentive to play pvp that's worthwhile.
