This is news to me. As far as I knew theres always been the vulgarity filter and that's it.
You say a naught word and it gets changed to "-blam!-" or whatever. And the old "national socialist" thing gets changed to "Godwin's law". And of course, if you try to dodge the filter you can get yourself in trouble if a ninja thinks you're going too far. Fair enough.
Another member of offtopic (who can reveal himself if he wants but I wont, because name and shame) told me that he said a certain word in a DM and BOOM. Instant pm ban.
I was skeptical, so I finally said screw it and tried it myself. And sure enough. Instant ban from PM's entirely. Not sure if I'm banned from posting as well as of right now.
The user in question said he got banned from posting in the forums immediately as well when he tried it there but it was a separate ban.
So uh, now I'm curious what words are an instant auto ban from PM's now because the word wasnt even that bad. I won't repeat it here but I'll say it starts with an "H" and leave it at that. Its not like it was an N bomb or even an F bomb or something.
Apparently, even the word, just by itself, with no other context or anything, is "explicit sexuality".
I'm not trying to Instigate a problem here. And I'm not mad I'm just surprised. I've never heard of an auto ban for certain words in all of my time on Bnet, and have no idea what those words might be. And now am apparently, unable to dm a ninja about it so GG I guess.
Oh. And I cant dm a mod. Or anyone. Oof

No, but now I am banned for the next seven to thirty days on PM.....

Ok ECCHO, I just got unbanned & I am now re-banned for PM because there is another new word that is an insta-ban, it is a mixture of Cho & duh. So on top of my hen & tai bans, I now have to worry that anything I say will contain a naughty word that Bungie doesn't approve of, yet is too lazy to tell us they have a bot banning for. So, how does this Discord thing you have been telling me about work?

1 ReplyIf by PMs you mean personal messages as in one on one talks with friends then I'd be concerned about violations of privacy by the mods. I've been there and dealt with that kind of issue before. As for bans. The rules were always there but they just seem to be enforcing them better now. That being said the rules themselves are open to interpretation, just looking at the CoC I'm breaking number 5 right now the question is would the mods extend their reach past their own game. Personally some things I can understand but (having had both friends and myself experience it) I draw the line at others getting offended for a person, if they don't like what's being said to them then let them report it.
