(Assuming you watched it)
CONGRADULATIONS!! You now have discovered your reason to live or are now in a deep state of sadness. Still, you’re probably asking your self, “What in the name of the Ninjas did I just watch?” Allow me time explain.
The story of the story behind the story
In summary, a group of aliens come to earth and leave 2 beings there. Adam and Lilith. All of the kids/angles of Adam want to kill Lilith and her offspring (humans). This leads us to the TV series
The story of the story
Simply put, all of history and the first 24 episodes of the TV series play out.
TL;DR- Seele discovers the embryo of Adam in the arctic after The 2nd impact happens (oofs 1/2 of earth, leading to it being changed). Prior to this, they find the Dead Sea Scrolls (how 2 guide for starting the 3rd impact and manual for the Evas and angels). We then get to the TV series.
The Story
Again, the first 24 episodes play out. The kids are depressed, Gendo is a bad dad, Kaworu doesn’t respawn properly.
——Other notes
-The lances of Longenous (idk how2spel) is used to suppress beings of A and L’s power. Both of those beings and lances should not be on the same planet FYI.
-Rei=Lilith (white thing on the Cross)
-Kaworu=Adam
The story after the story (END OF EVA.)
The third part of the movie imo is pretty clear. Asuka is KO, Shinji is depressed, Rei is on her third life. After Kaworu lost connection, Seele begins its glitched +20 man raid on Nerv HQ. They want to begin the 3rd Impact (3I) AKA Human Instrumentality (HI). HI is the literal melting of all people into a single conscience (LCL or the blood of Lilith [THE ORANGE CRUSH]). This is possible by merging Adam (the embryo) and Lilith (Rei) [I WILL REFER TO THIS AS ALER]. Gendo, however, wants to be the leader of this. He tries to merge with ALER, however, this doesn’t work and Rei becomes its leader.
The story after the story after the story (END OF EVA.)
Around this scene Shinji tries to activate Unit 1 while inside ALER, so he can help Asuka. She has a last-stand-wombo-wumbo-combo, after she was able to finally love her mother, but soon ends with the mass produced Evas team shooting her, making her KD a solid -1.5 and a elevendy six and a half. After witnessing this, he refuses to merge with SUPER ALER (SALER), but does so after seeing Kaworu, his only true friend. This is important because he was able to form a meaningful connection with Shinji. However, Shinji killed him, which is one of the main reasons why he was so depressed in the beginning of the movie.
The story after the story after the story after the story (END OF EVA.)
This is when the “do-or-die” part of the movie happens. Shinji’s conscience confronts him about his self loathing, hatred, and fear of pain from loving others. This is summarized in the idea of the “(Sanic the) hedgehogs dilemma.” In short, people are afraid of loving each other because of the pain that comes with it, like how hedgehogs keep distance from each other because of their quills despite that they are cold, and want to be together for warmth. His conscience took form of all of the characters from the series, trying to convince him that he is selfish, and cares about others so they can take care of him. Shinji denied this, claiming that nobody cares about him. The biggest scene of this is his confrontation with Asuka, when she tells him that people care about him but he rejects their love in fear of the pain that comes with it. He then attacks her, causing HI.
The story after the story after the story after the story after the story (THE CHAD 3RD IMPACT)

This is when you probably start to question all of reality. An no, I don’t have a red or blue pill to help you with this. Everyone sees the “person that completes them,” and melts into the Orange Crush- I mean LCL. This is the world’s return to the conscience that Seele desired. During this, Gendo is confronted by Rei, Kaworu, and Shinji’s mom about his bad treatment of Shinji. This seen shows that Shinji’s treatment or relationships (or lack there of) would make him end up like his father.
EPILOGUE- Now, Listen to this!— https://youtu.be/8q4jWeo5oxA link
During this, Shinji finally decides to return to reality after realizing how dull living a perfect/2-D life is. He says a couple of words to his mom, and then awakes on a red lake of LCL next to Asuka. They are close to each other to the point where they can hold hands. However, Shinji, continues to “attack” Asuka. However, she says the most infamous word in history, “Pathetic,” and he stops. He cries and shows remorse for what he did.
Final thoughts...
The final scene shows all aspects of human emotion. Shinji depicts confusion, hate, remorse, sadness, while Asuka shows disgust and confusion too. Her reaching to Shinji also shows too human emotion, signs of human compassion, forgiveness, and tenderness of others.
End of Evangelion shows the problem of man and its solution. The willing to isolate one’s self from the world to avoid pain results in more pain. The solution to this isn’t just for man to make connections with others, but for those connections to be out of TRUE love, TRUE, interest, and TRUE compassion. Most importantly of all, be the you the way you want the world to perceive you.

1 ReplyEdited by LahDsai: 12/19/2019 2:34:11 AMA few points: — Seele aquired the dead sea scrolls prior to second impact. It's how they knew where to find Adam and how to cause a second impact with minimal damage, reducing him to an embryo. — Shinji's mother didn't die in the second impact. She "died" experimenting with Unit 01. Adults should not pilot Evas, only children born after 2nd impact are compatible. She didn't even really "die", she was absorbed by the Eva and her soul survives inside. She's why Unit 01 has a tendency to go berserk when Shinji is in extreme danger. — A.T. field = soul. When an Angel uses its AT field, it's manifesting its soul. When an Eva uses "its" AT field, it's actually amplifying the pilot's soul. Normally, human souls contain our egos. It's what keeps us individual. This is why End of Evangelion is so important. Shinji has a choice to "release" his soul and "join" with the rest of humanity (the collective conscious goop), thus never being lonely, but it would be at the cost of his individuality. — Rei is a clone of Shinji's mother (Yui) using Lilith's DNA (ever notice how malleable angels are?). This is why both she and the dummy plugs are rejected by Unit 01, which houses Yui's soul. Also, she DOES have a soul. She houses Lilith's soul. If she didn't, she wouldn't be able to activate an AT Field. On top of that, it's why her relationship with Gendo (Shinji's dad) and Shinji is so... complex. On the Gendo side it's him still seeing a lot of his wife in her muddled with his intention to use Rei as a tool to reunite with his Yui. On the Shinji side, it's Rei harboring maternal instincts she doesn't quite understand (both as Yui, mother of Shinji, and Lilith, mother of humanity)

7 RepliesWhat if I told you end of evangelion is the start of Shinji going down various alternative timelines (remember all those weird games/manga that change certain things/dating sims with slightly different events) in a bid to find one he can be happy in while blocking his memory of the previous one?

Yes. Just yes:
