Please provide alternatives to PVP quest steps for paid story content
As I'm sure many of you know, you need 25 Guardian kills for this week's Saint-XIV quest. I have no complaints about this, except I've been restricted from PVP due to shitty internet. So I can't access a major part of the season that I paid for. I'm not looking for a refund, I can still play the rest of the seasonal content, all I want is for alternatives to PVP quest steps to be implemented. I understand that players like me are a very small part of the playerbase, but it is still really shitty to not get what you paid for because your internet sucks.

I actually know no other Game that's mixing PvE with PvP like Destiny is. And I never understood why they are doing it again and again and again. In most other Games I know, the PvE and PvP economies exist independant of each other so they do not influence each other because balancing PvP is way different from balancing PvP. Also, most people I know are either completely into PvP or not at all. Some enjoy it here and there but most who don't enjoy it, don't play it at all. Discussions like this go on and it's always the same. PvP players blame PvE players for whining. That's annoying as hell. I doubt the vast majority does not feel capable of killing 25 enemies in Crucible. It's about how they wanna spend their spare time. Of course the PvP steps in quests are not inhuman or unachievable lol. But it is a general thing. If you refuse to play PvP, even the slightest effort is not welcome. I can do a lot of things, including stitching. But do I spend my evenings with stitching? Hell no. If Bungie's reason for doing it is to populate PvP modes, it's the wrong way to bring attention to it. Either PvP is strong enough that people want to play it (did anyone say Trials?) or it's not. If it's not, stop forcing PvE players to populate it. Beeing forced into something you don't wanna do is not something you remember in a positive way. I am sure it is dragging some players away from the Game. They over react you say? Big news: everybody is different but we have one thing in common. We want to spend our sparetime with fun things. Bottom line is that there is simply no need to mix the two modes. It's only Bungie's crazy ideas to do it no matter how often people complain. Like Microsoft. They claim they know what you want to do but in fact they don't. Not at all lol.

1 ReplyI actually loathe PvP at this point. That being said I got the quest step finished half way through the second game of crucible and bounced early. I used to enjoy PvP in Destiny but the telesto/arbalest meta right now with erentil still in the mix makes me just want to turn the game off for the day. I got the recluse grind dine before the nerf and was hoping to leave PvP behind for a year or so, maybe permanently. Saw this quest and immediately felt massive disappointment.

Comment 1: I understood that this season, actually the last season, there was going to be an elimination of "Required" PvP. (I hope the word "required" satisfies those who object to "forced") Apparently Bungie lied - as is common. Comment 2. I don't play PvP, and I understand that lots - not the majority as often claimed - do not like PvE. In fact, many object to being "forced" or "required" to play PvE. I understand, I really do, but FFS, stop blaming the PvEs for not wanting to play PvP, with snide brain-dead remarks like "Aww. someone sucks at crucible" Maybe we can say, "Aww. someone sucks at PvE!" Blame Bungie! They're the ones dividing the community in a "them" and "us" argument. Comment 3. Just another demonstration that the two should be separate. For all I care, the price can be cut in half, and you buy what you want. I suspect that Bungie will lose money big time with this arrangement. So, Bungie, best to just go half way, make them separate, but continue to steal from both communities equally. Can't buy one with out the other. You still make a few Bucks, and both communities should be happy. I know I will be. I won't be "forced" to read whining PvPs moaning about PvEs moaning about PvPs moaning about Climate Change.

But after reading your post, i honestly feel bad for you because you're internet restricted. This is a MASSIVE oversight by Bungie. Way to alienate your player base Bungie.

3 RepliesWell unlike yourself I do have a problem with it .... the story of Saint 14 was sold on the basis that it was a pve story campaign/quest nothing more nothing less. But to have bungie trying to force pvp garbage down everyone’s throat is beyond a joke🤬

8 RepliesAnd who's to say that they aren't going to start forcing pvp on people in future story quests from here on? I have never pvp'd in this game and I never will. I don't want anything to do with pvp. This is effectively a game over for me. I feel really stupid for buying a season pass. =-/

PvP players will be vocal, but PvE oriented players are [b]vastly[/b] more numerous and just want to enjoy the game. If you want to expand Destiny 2, you're not going to build it off PvP no matter how much the marketing types push bullet points. The OP above has the best of both worlds, give incentives within quest lines to jump into MP to skip a longer grind. Much like how there's gear you can only get in PvP, let players who want to try things out skip a wait. What's more, switching into PvP modes is terrible. There's no loadouts, limited carrying space for gear, and if you want to switch characters that's an entire other load back to the main menu. Putting PvP into the main quest isn't experimentation, it's beating a dead horse of idea that somehow forcing people into PvP actually makes it stick, especially when you haven't done the work to make PvP worth playing.

I hate PVP with every single cell of my body, BUT I'm with you in that matter, pal. For the sake of everyone: those who doesn't want PVP steps, and you that have internet problems. I hope it gets stable soon so you can play PVP.

This does need to be a thing because it's unfair to the people who paid money to play the content. So in other words you paid for the content but you cant get it. Bungie can you please fix this issue?

9 RepliesThis kind of thing really pisses me off. I hate PVP - I unable to enjoy it. It's not a matter of "git gud", or bad internet, or anything remotely like that. Some people hate licorice - some people love it. I hate PVP. I am sick and tired of being forced into game modes that are IRRELEVANT to PVE, in order to progress STORY missions. Let me reiterate in obscenely simple terms- PVP IS NOT FUN FOR ME. DO NOT FORCE ME INTO PVP.

Guys OP literally stated his internet is to blame. Jumping in here saying "you can't get 25 kills?!?!1" is just proof you don't understand the post. It does seem like that would be an issue. I have a clanmate that lives in a country with poor internet connection. He can almost never play PvP. It's a shame that story content is locked behind this. Oh, and to that one guy: Gambit is even worse on your connection than Crucible. C'mon, man.

They already know that lots of paying customers hate pvp. They don’t care. They think that pvp esports teams will save Bungie from going broke and therefore solo players or people who hate pvp aren’t important.

For everyone else who are annoyed at it simply because they don't like PvP, that's 'whatever'. This case is a bit strange though because Destiny is a series based on online multiplayer sessions with other players.

They reuse assets and want players to play all facets of their game. Turn off the WiFi on as many devices as you can. Or hardwire your console. The quest is short and they aren’t asking for that much pvp.

Sure, it sucks to have your streak ruined by a wifi warrior, but I'd rather them still be able to play than have people being restricted due to shit internet. Very few games ever restrict people from games due to internet and no one has batted an eye, but we need it for D2?
