At some point Massive, the studio behind the development of "The Division", realized that the basic mechanics of their game were so fundamentally flawed that they postponed all new content to concentrate on repairing and overhauling the game in it's core.
It completely turned the game around, created a great fundament for future expansions and restored the communities trust in the developer.
I think Bungie is in a comparable predicament. I think they need the time to have a good look at their product and their relationship with the community and start "fresh".

All i can say is i left TD2 to play D2.....to me TD2 just didn't have the story to keep me. Now D2 is falling into the same thing....not enough story to keep me interested.
