I did like the idea of specific rewards tied to leveling up and knowing in advance what they are and that made me actually pay more attention to multitasking bounties and figuring out the fastest way to Level 100 ... but there should've been some rewards past 100, as well. Not necessarily one per level but maybe one every ten or fifteen levels. Doesn't have to be something wholly unique, but a few prisms or a couple hundred bright dust would be nice. Vex Offensive was initially quite fun -- it was kind of nice to have a simple shooting gallery type event, but it didn't scale well, difficulty-wise, with our increasing power. Even for just a limited time frame the fact that it was essentially impossible to fail made it get stale faster. I was expecting the Final Assault to really come in and require some effort, but it didn't. We need more loot to chase after, frankly. I understand with weapons that the feel of the gunplay in this game is fantastic, and each weapon does feel different than the others in its class, so no one wants a bunch of reskinned clones that are essentially just the same weapon with minor cosmetic differences. I'm sure it takes some considerable work to get the feel of the guns right, so its understandable that we don't get dozens of new guns each season. That said, there's no excuse not to be drowning in armor / universal ornaments. Each activity should have a seasonal 'standard' set and the equivalent of 'pinnacle' armor that takes a longer grind. Each Exotic armor should have multiple ornaments - give Xur something to sell to the veteran players who have their Exotic collections complete. The aesthetics should range from ridiculous / whimsical (a Jade Rabbit or Twin-Tailed Fox set) to super badass -- let the player decide what they want to be. Whatever you don't earn in the course of a season goes on Eververse the following season. Ships and sparrows and weapon ornaments are all fine and good, but with Armor 2.0 being able to control the visual aspect of our characters is one of the key features. How many times in Crucible or Gambit or strikes do you notice someone has a certain weapon ornament equipped, or what ship they have? But you'll always notice interesting armor combos. If you want to monetize cosmetics, armor is the way to go.

Vex Offensive is just supposed to be a fun, accessible horde mode that is a gear-farm for the game's more casual players. Its nto supposed to be a "challenge" for the game's hardcore. Your disatisfaction is based on a fundamental misunderstanding of its role in the game.
We need more loot to chase after, frankly. But that is still a side-effect the design mistakes that were baked into Destiny 2 during its design, and Bungie is still trying to fix those problems.
That said, there's no excuse not to be drowning in armor / universal ornaments
Yes, there is. "When everything is special than nothing is special". Part of the "problem" of Eververse is that its flooded the game with so many cosmetic items, that none of them have any meaning or any value. In Destiny 1, very simple cosmetic items were highly prized because they were trophies of in-game accomplishments. But now, the game is flooded with them....and so very few people care for them...or about them. Allowing Eververse armor sets to act as Universal Ornaments is one way to make these things special and give them some value.
Seems like I'm not alone in thinking that the 'Final Assault' was going to be a little more difficult / challenging than the standard non-Final version of it. Not everything can be viewed in the simplistic binary black and white of 'casual' / 'hardcore' -- yeah, it was a limited-time activity so I wasn't expecting it to have incredible amounts of depth and be the best thing in the game. That said, it should've scaled a little, difficulty-wise.
Part of the "problem" of Eververse is that its flooded the game with so many cosmetic items, that none of them have any meaning or any value.
They don't have any value or meaning to YOU, but they exist to let players express their individuality. That's why we have the option to create characters of different races and genders in the first place, have shaders to change the color of our gear to our personal preference. Not everything needs to be locked behind an achievement and be a visual badge of honor that someone completed a particular difficult objective or challenge. It's fine if there ARE some items that fall under that category -- there should be some wearable trophies -- but every player should have access to start creating an avatar that appeals to them, even if it's just swapping a shader they get on day one.
Value is subjective: if it increases someone's enjoyment of the game, it's got value. You may not care about it, but that's you. It would add value to my experience if I had a few more things to chase after. Or is it that it's just no longer the 'glory days' of D1 where only the elite / dedicated players could wear their rare trophies they had to earn?
