Why not just bring back every exotic from D1?
Why just bring back a handful of exotics and not all of them? I don't mind grinding for them again or even a decent quest. My question is why not bring them all back? All thoughts and opinions both positive and negative are welcome.

It’d honestly be hard to bring some things back just on the basis of how busted they were or would be. Zhalo, Icebreaker, and Invective come to mind

I think we need to do a mix of “new” exotics and “old” exotics. For example, you have the Kvhostov. Terrible exotic weapon, but a decent weapon at its foundation. What if instead of an exotic, it was a randomly rolled legendary? Or, even better, a Legendary that automatically came with all of its perks selectable in its menu? Then you have exotics that are [i]technically[/i] in D1, but not really. Case in point, the Iron Battle Axe. Seriously, why isn’t it an exotic “sword” yet?

Most of them have been brought back, by the end of D2 it might be all of them. But because it's lazy and been done before.

2 RepliesThey never should have brought ANYTHING back. They did the same thing during D1. Took everything away and then the players had to re-earn it the hard way. They did it again for D2, but then again, made players re-earn it the hard way. Thought Shadowkeep wasn't as hard removal, it was still a removal. If something was earned in D1 - the player should get it without going through the grind. If that cannot be met, they should just not re-introduce it at all.

Edited by Nazo: 12/2/2019 10:59:29 PMI can think of a few reasons. One could be because there were some exotics that were introduced in Destiny 1 that would break the game. Ice Breaker was such a controversial conundrum, especially in D1 Year 1. It was a high-impact sniper rifle that could regenerate a full magazine in under a minute. The idea of ammo regeneration was great, but Bungie failed to consider how viable such a weapon would turn out in PvE and PvP, especially considering the 5-minute cooldown timers for ammo syntheses. People complained about Ice Breaker in PvP for the longest time because people would/could just camp in a corner and wait for their ammo to regenerate while invalidating special ammo crates. Then there are some weapons from D1 that Bungie probably has some internal reasons for not bringing back (Pocket Infinity never got a Year 3 version) or there are already similar existing exotics in D2 (the best comparison I can think of is Riskrunner and Zhalo Supercell).

I think instead of d3, just delete D2 and carry with D1 and forget the previous 3 years 👍

They will. They're just going to trickle the out as "new content" exotic quests in the remaining seasons. Its going to be really sad.

What I felt they should have done was bring everything for D2 but make them all legendary with slightly water downed perks. Then have all the new exotics as is.

I think they are trying to be picky or careful as to what they are bringing back. Stuff that was hard to balance around probably will be left behind. (ice breaker, universal remote, invective)
