Can we please get an option to disable aim assist on console

This has been a game breaking problem for years especially when it comes to PvP. PvP personally is unplayable in current state with no way to disable aim assist on console. I don't know how many times this has happened to myself or others but when I'm shooting one person have them critical or one to two shots from being killed; (while still having the upper hand health wise) and another one of his teammates passes by while I am aim down the scope at my intended target and the broken ass aim assist tracks far left or far right trying to target dude passing by left to right or vise versus. And wouldn't you know it by the time I adjust my sites back on my target I am dead or barely get a shot off before being killed. If it occurred once in a blue moon fine no big deal but several times in one match everytime you play pvp. It's not impossible they have the option on pc and other games they have created such as Halo worked fine in PvP without aim assist. Give the players the option to use it or not! But for me personally it breaks the game when it comes to pvp. Dumbing things down with aim assist for inexperienced/new players should be in the game at the start then give a prompt that they can try without it once they progressed a bit, and give the community in general the option to turn off aim assist or use it. Furthermore in pvp archetypes you could even go as far to break it down by aim assist not enabled for things like Iron Banner or Ranked pvp modes and allow enabling it for quick play and normal pvp. This would also lead to more balancing of teams i.e. new players who rely on the aim assist wouldn't be joining higher tier pvp modes until they got a bit more up to par. But who am I kidding Bungie never listens to feedback from its players it just keeps pumping out shit and asking it's players for more money for whatever "new crappy dlc" with all the same problems and disappointments as before.

  • This morning I was about to kill a boss when I was turned 90 degrees by a passing minion. It didn't just pull my weapon, it actually turned my body! I think it's designed to make us miss and not as an aim assist at all, otherwise they'd have turned it off the first week. Either that of the guy who put it in has quit and they don't know how to do it.

I believe destiny needs to remove bullet magnet from PVP and make all weapons the same aim assist or lower it on higher ones. Destiny 2 has more aim assist then most shooters out there. I get it for PvE but PVP needs some attention. I believe all weapons needs to be turned down to 21 aim assist then what we have now

  • I've played Warframe with and without Aim Assist and it was an eye opener for how much it helps.

Try sniping a teammate in halo, you don't want no aim assist. Maybe have a slider like overwatch though

Bullet magnetism is needed on consoles, but that reticle stickiness is many times just a hindrance. I’ve wished for an option to disable it since day 2… Edit: And I’m not saying reticle stickiness is all bad either - it has probably helped me land countless flick shots. The problem is kind like Z fighting issue, when you are already on some enemy and the stickiness is working against you. At least that is when the stickiness becomes apparent, and problematic. So yes, a slider or something to affect its strength, or the fact if it only activates on large movements etc..

I can't say I'm a fan of my gun moving across the screen the moment someone runs across it.

  • You really do NOT want 0% aim assist on console w/ a controller. You might think you do, but you don’t. Some games have lighter aim assist than Destiny, and some even give you the option to turn it off entirely. Turning it off is clearly for madmen and people who connect a keyboard and mouse to their console. If you have Borderlands 3 you can try a shooter with no aim assist, as you can turn it off. The current aim assist is not as heavy as Destiny, but you WILL notice it when it is gone. Try it. You’ll turn aim assist back on when you get tired of running out of ammo and everything is still alive.

Back in MW3 and Black Ops 2 I disabled aim assist completely and my kd improved significantly. With aim assist it is just not possible to prioritize the target that you actually want. Especially in titanfall 2 where wallrunning and all sorts of crazy movements happen in a very short time, aim assist can really ruin your jumps and momentum which usually means that you will die if your opponents know what they are doing. There should be a toggle in game that disables aim assist but also removes recoil. I can guarantee you that most top tier players would use this.

    • Console needs the bullet magnetism aim assist provides but I agree, reticle yanking needs a scale or an on/off switch

          • If aim assist were gone on console, we would all have extremely low kills per game. The timer would run out before any team reached the goal. Everyone would have more melee kills than anything. The FPS and input lag would make the game infuriating without aim assist.

You don't actually realise the importance of aim assist on consoles. If it's removed you won't hit anything. People find it hard to accept that they are being helped by aim assist. People are under the wrong impression that they can play well and enjoy without aim assist. Aim assist is the single largest reason of many guns being popular like Spare Rations, MIDA, Midnight Coup, Jack Queen King, Hammerhead, Death by Scorn, Horror's Least, etc. Even Luna/NF and Trust have high aim assist although still less than Spare Rations.

Funny to see morons acting like they've coded auto aim before but they're just parrots saying "bok bok." Auto aim aka target stickyness definitely needs options. My pvp team uses the game's sticky aim as a tactic. Go ahead and snipe opening round down main lane. Guarantee you I makr you waste both shots by drag scoping you. See a sniper? Just slide avross the lane and they'll lose the shot every time. Its needs a fix.

                • If you want to see what that’s like, try shooting your teammate while they’re moving. You probably won’t hit them more than once or twice.

Turning off aim assist will not fix this problem, because then the ability to aim goes out the window. The problem is the drag it imposes on you to "help" track a moving target, which in about every single game ever, has only ever been counterintuitive. This is what needs to go, because it creates that drag when some randy runs past the scope, ruining your shot. Aim assist itself is not the problem, only this part of it. Be more informed of the issue before you go and ask for the wrong thing. I suggest editing the post
