Let’s say, theoretically, that a ghost lost their guardian after she jumped off a cliff. Is it legal for said ghost to find another guardian? Of course this is all theoretical, I couldn’t imagine that ever happening.

As long as ghost can physically raise someone they probably will, see shin malphur and the undead baby raised a guardianless ghost (who might have also been Shin idk man he gets around)
-
[the only time it’s (debatably) happened was with shin malfur, and that’s a theory up for debate.]
-
Wait.....don’t Ghosts without a link to their Guardian eventually die off or something?
-
This has already happened at least once. See the lore on how shin malphur became a guardian
-
The only time I know of that this happens is with Shin Malphur.

More like guidelines than can vs should

3 RepliesAre you suggesting that ghosts commit crimes? Are criminal ghosts sent to jail? 🤔
-
7 RepliesWell, our ghost couldn't heal cayde, soooo...
-
This is thoughtcrime.
-
1 ReplyI think that's a felony.
-
If Shin Malphur became a Guardian after jaren ward, anything is possible
-
Totally illegal. So illegal in fact that if it ever happened in the game, the unlucky person who was playing at the time will have their door kicked in and be arrested by the FBI at 3:30AM, dragged off to a concrete underground prison facility at an unknown black site and never heard from again. Don't do it! Ok?
-
3 RepliesI think it is possible. Our ghost tried someone else who said they were fine not being a guardian.
-
Legal? There's no law in Destiny.
-
I think if you’re talking about raising the dead you are on pretty dodgy ground full stop.

Edited by Grays_KS27: 11/29/2019 2:30:54 PMShort answer: “Wait, that’s illegal.” Long answer: Ghosts can only have one Guardian, and cannot change to a new Guardian. Each Ghost has one ideal match for a Guardian, but they have the option to revive someone else. However, once a Guardian is revived, this choice is irreversible. There are many accounts from Ghosts who lost their Guardians -or are still searching for them- that directly confirm this information (several of these are excerpts from Ghost Stories, but there are others, including a direct quote from our Ghost and more from the nine Ghosts who Orin spoke to when searching for the Nine). Many people mention Jaren Ward’s Ghost and Shin Malphur. This is part of a huge misconception. Jaren Ward, his Ghost, and Dredgen Yor all saw the Light in Shin Malphur, confirming that he was already a Guardian (this is why they were so interested in him), meaning he was most likely the infant from the Confession of Hope excerpts in Ghost Stories (the writer who made this lore confirmed it was Shin, but it has yet to be confirmed in-game), or a similar case. After Jaren died, his Ghost went to Shin and said something to him (most likely telling him that he had the Light). All other lore directly confirms that it was not possible for Jaren’s Ghost to become Shin’s Ghost.

Only if it's the 45th February and there are 3 squirrels all facing due west and a single woman is balancing on one foot while humming the theme tune to doctor who.

10 RepliesIt is already confirmed that circumstances do allow for multiple ghosts to a single guardian. It is extremely rare however.

6 RepliesHmmm... looks like in theory the ghost is screwed.
When a Ghost revives their Chosen, they are bonded together from that point forward. A "neural symbiosis" begins between them. Every Ghost has one specific person they are meant to revive. For some, their Chosen is a sort of "soul mate" and they know instinctively when the right remains have been found; [5] for others, they simply search until they find someone they feel is worthy of the Light or has a "spark". Many Ghosts have spent the time since the Collapse searching fruitlessly for their Chosen. In the worst case, their Chosen's corpse may be irretrievably destroyed before they could be revived, leaving the Ghost's quest eternally unfinished. [8]
Shoot.

If shin was the child who died and was revived by a ghost leading pilgrims to the city, then technically yes. Cause the ghost that revived the child, died and then if shin was that child he would later inherit the ghost of his mentor when dredgen yor killed him.

6 RepliesEdited by Petra Fisher: 11/28/2019 8:55:00 PMOk, first of all, WHO’S THE SNITCH THAT BROUGHT A NINJA TO LORE?! These guys never come to Lore! And second, c’mon man, locking my post for talking to a friend? Shame on you. I even said that I would have used a message but I was giving people proof that I had permission. At least tell me to edit it first, dammit! You really gonna do me like that?
Sorry Bucket, but he probably woke up on the wrong side of the bed and wouldn’t like me making a post about it. So I had to say something somewhere.
Future me here: I have and haven’t made a post on it.

Hmmm wasnt your ghost looking for you for some long undeclared time before you started your guardianship? Wouldnt this suggest they are locked to a single guardian and not free to choose. Cant really remember, but sorta recall subtle suggestions of exclusivity with your ghost.
