Why did RoI have more content than Shadowkeep?

An arguably better raid, more exotic weapons, a new social space, more immersive quests: all from a DLC that was produced as a side note to keep players occupied in the remaining days of D1. Time to phone up Activision, ya'll. Edit 1: I take it back. Wrath of the Machine just might be better... Week 5 and we still have one of the most broken raids of all time. The Iron Giant Sanctified Mind blasting off to catch the Little Einsteins with his side facing you, motes falling off the map, Minotaurs teleporting into walls chasing after Harry Potter and the Philosipher's Stone, horrendous frame drops on console, tether mechanics just refusing to work, 3rd encounter Minotaurs not spawning in on challenge encounters... It's absolutely shameful.

    • You can blame epic games for the microtransaction bs. Nobody was doing this shit until fortnite dropped. Dont get me wrong, I absolutely love the rank up and rewards from each rank, but making separate items in game that can only be acquired by spending real cash is stupid. In D1 bungie focused directly on content, D1 was so good of a game that i couldnt wait to get off work and play, couldnt wait until reset each week, the music would give me goosebumps just listening to it. As far as D2 tho? Its all a money grab now, and if bungie doesnt start focusing on whats important, they will lose even more players.

These posts are not only low effort, they're embarrassing to see people in this community act like this. Why did ROI have more content? Gosh, maybe because Bungie had a year to create it in which no other content dropped and they weren't giving the community new content every 3 months. This isn't rocket science. If you or anyone else would like to wait a year between content drops, I'll bet they're a lot bigger. Would you like that? Because it seems to me the community screamed bloody murder over content droughts and so now there are more releases throughout the year, but they're more focused. Maybe you should try to have a little empathy and understanding in your post and give feedback without the pretentious "OMG looks at me flaming Bungie and the devs, I'm so cool guys!" schtick.

            • Personally I do not like the small season pass stuff. It feels lazy and very recycled. Give me a proper DLC with extensive story and campaign. Add a load of strikes with rewards that actually worth obtaining and a decent raid with some good loot! Loot has been a problem for a while, it’s all just a bit boring and lacking. Why aren’t there 100s or potentially 1000s of guns and armour to obtain? I can already guess the quests a year or so from now. Complete 30 strikes, complete 30 crucible matches and complete 30 gambit matches. Pinnacle weapons? Oh get 1000 kills in crucible, 1000 kills in strikes and 10000000 kills in gambit coz not many people like gambit.

              • We need to go back to the dlc releases and get away from the seasons thing in my opinion, I'd rather have droughts then a semi-constant ankle high flood...

              • because the "content drought." the longer we wait between releases, the better the content. shoveling out garbage every few months is killing the series.

Year 3 of D1 was so much better than D2 is now. You could do any activity and progress to 400 Light. Exotic engrams, strike specific loot, faction packages, raids, and Archon Forge drops were all guaranteed to be above your light level and up to 400 Light. Infusion was easy, cheap, and you could use extra gear to infuse your other characters. You didn't have to play the game 24/7 like you do now. There were Tier 12 armor builds. Cooldowns were fast. The adjustments for Mobility, Armor, and Recovery were in the skill tree and easy to change on the fly. Skill trees were more complex and customizable too. Shaders actually worked correctly and changed the color of your armor. Not just parts of it. Ammo synths existed. Class items were unique, and sold by the Speaker. Factions actually existed. Vendor gear updates actually happened, and vendor rolls changed weekly. With Age of Triumph, all the raids were updated and made relevant. The game was actually fun, instead of a boring, unrewarding, grindy wannabe WoW clone. And most importantly, the game was made for EVERYONE, not just the YouTubers and elitists that play the game 24/7.

People need to realise that the Bungie of today in no way shape and form is the Bungie of the past. All most all devs left for other developing companies and most to 343i. All the brains the imagination the creativity clearly went else where. Those left at Bungie these days have no idea what Destiny is all about, where to even start, what rewards to give or what armour should look like. I mean seriously when a developer needs to ask other people, streamers and now their own forum how the game should be made ?! It’s a joke right, are they laughing at us or what ?! I have no idea but I won’t stomach it any longer

Wrath of the Machine is the cut raid from HoW. Think about it, the liveteam making a detailed raid like that? No, the full team had to have worked on it. Besides, more evidence is that it’s Fallen as well. Another great piece of evidence is that one of the songs from the raid plays during a HoW campaign mission. As for the SIVA stuff, that was added when they started to develop RoI. Removed the Wolf stuff and added the SIVA to the raid. Just a theory of mine. EDIT: I’m not a hater. I like Destiny, but you can’t deny that what I’m saying sounds plausible.

                      • Drip feeding content is one of the issues, they don’t have to make as much stuff when they can stretch it out, this expansion got us 1 Exotic Armor drop per class and zero vendor Refresh’s outside of Eververse

                      • It didn’t. But at that time EVERYTHING was available and ALL activities were brought up in line. At least more than half the armor and weapons are locked and stuck in Year 1. It’s stupid.

                            • Don't forget that D2 was 'necessary' because developing in D1 was incredibly 'difficult' which means more was put out, with fewer devs, on a harder system.

                            • Everything was new. More things to chase. There was reasons to continue to play even after hitting 400 light. The raids were simple mechanics straight to the point. Raids were fun. All things Destiny 2 is not

Nowadays it’s pyjama day everyday at Bungie HQ thus the slow trickle of content. It’s pretty obvious there’s a serious issue when it comes to creating new content internally. That’s why there’s so much reskinning. I expect little to nothing for the remaining 3 content drops therefore I won’t be disappointed.
