Thanks for the feedback, Slender! For a few of your feedback points, have you tried different perk sets? Field Prep gives quick reload when crouched and a bigger backpack of ammo. There are also perks that help with tracking for rockets that specifically have that ability. I'll be sure to pass the feedback along to the team.

  • even with those perks rockets are worse than grenade launchers or whisper for dps and worse than machine guns for ad clear. I do believe rockets are just slightly less crap than linear fusions so congrats on that yall😉

Reduce the ammo reserves to 2 base. Give rockets a huge damage buff, and a movements speed penalty, 5 percent stowed. 15 percent held. This creates the tradeoff. The big fat boom stick can lay down a room full of majors, knock 1 third of a bosses hp off, or flat out demolish a vehicle, At the cost of moving slower, and having to carefully choose the time you use it. Rockets should be like d2 launch day supers. Once or twice a match, you have the golden ticket...

  • Only one weapon that sucks more than rockets (linear fusion rifles).

  • I feel like you guys are scared to go back to the days of gjallarhorn and D1. Rockets are underused, under loved and just not viable in today's destiny. Buff them

  • I’d tone down what he says. Give 1 more rocket and buff damage by about 10%. Rockets have better utility due to their high blast radius allowing them to clear out groups of adds. Grenade launchers don’t really have anything like this. By buffing damage and reserves slightly so they aren’t completely outclassed in DPS, rockets could have a foothold over Grenade launchers. Field prep is nice, but their DPS still suffer because they still have to reload after every shot.

  • Right now there is no reason, other than add clearing, to use a Rocket Launcher over a Nade Launcher or a sniper. Rockets need a damage buff.

  • Have you ever asked yourselves why should jotunn be better than a RL, seeing as the first uses special ammo and the second uses heavy ?

  • Who crouches to fire a rocket? Almost always results in a suicide if an ally runs in front of you or an enemy is too close. Most gaurdians jump to fire a rocket. At this point in the game we almost never have enough ammo to justify using them!

  • Maybe because the game is based on rng.

  •
Maybe because the game is based on rng.
You're missing the point, a tracking RL shouldn't need a perk to make it track reliably . . . cheers for your input 👌

  • I’m not sure if you take replies to your posts into consideration, but if you do I’d say that simply increasing the amount of rockets you can fire before reloading would be a massive benefit to rockets. Currently, the thing that hurts rockets in my opinion is that you both have to reload after every shot, and the damage that single shot puts out isn’t enough compared to most if not all other heavy weapons. The reload might be fixed by using fieldprep for a quicker reload, but it’s my belief that perks should be an enhancement to a weapon, and shouldn’t be a requirement for that weapon to perform well. However even with that quicker reload there is still the issue of damage, which rockets don’t do a large amount of. If bungie were to give rockets a decent damage buff and the ability to shoot an extra rocket or two before reloading, I think it would make rockets a much better choice and would help diversify the loadouts people are using.

  • Lol this response is ridiculous. Rockets are overkill for trash ads, but they’re also bad at boss DPS. Field prep and other perks can only cover up some of the flaws. Even with tracking, enemies can easily dodge them.

@dmg04 what rockets actually need is the option for a second rocket in the tube so I can fire 2 before I need to reload. Possibly allow Back-up Mag to effect Rocket Launchers?

  • I’ve said it before, but perks should be additions and enhancements to a weapon, not a requirement for that weapon to perform on par with other weapons. Sure I can make a starfire protocol build where ai can spam our grenades and rockets to quickly shoot 7+ rockets quickly for good dps, but I shouldn’t have to use an exotic and specific perks on the weapon for it to do good.
