If you have the tier 21 buff (3x progress) A crusible match gives 1/2 of a percentage A gambit prime match gives 4 points

mine was at 1%. I used it in 5 crucible matches and got a bunch of kills with it and it was still at 1%. I used it in two strikes. It was at 1%. I don'tknow if it's long or it's bugged but i don't really like the gun anyways so i stopped forcing myself to use it to get the catalyst completed, especially at that pace.

Yep, I’m about tired of trying to get the catalyst. 1% increase per match is stupid.

It's meant to take to long as many other things in this game are meant to take too long. It's what happens when a company doesn't put real effort into their game creating a decent loot system, let alone the lack of actual loot to chase. I've been reading over this forum since Shadow Keep released and what I've noticed as most should have, but no one is mentioning it and it's mind-boggling that post like this keep coming up. Things like the catalyst will always be a thing, this is Destiny's future and most need to face the fact that things will get worse. Look at the past 6 months when it comes to just the quest like running strikes getting 15,000 grenade kills, The Tribute Hall, Materworking items, etc... all things to waste a player time playing this game instead of creating actual (quality content) to where the players want to play the game and doesn't feel they're wasting their time. It's like the Haunted Forest that is a pure waste of time in every aspect of it. IMO Bungie is throttling the clears. To me, that's pure BS. I know I know, the wannabe trolls will come on here with their comments🤦♂️ The season of the undying rewards, hmm, how can I put this in lighter terms, I got it. [b](It's pure lazy development.)[/b] It's the worst rewards system they have come up with yet. I say yet because I know Bungie will prove me wrong. The game is so unrewarding at this point that it's not funny at all knowing the previous work that has been put into Destiny. So since Bungie is all about just pushing half-baked content out the door these days, things like the Catalyst will take place more often. This is what Bungie calls quality content and spending quality time in this game. Oh, and you can thank the top streamers Bungie caters to for helping Bungie out creating such a rewarding game 👍 Personally, I miss the old Bungie that had heart when creating content.

What catalyst? Oh you mean the thing I deleted when I saw it go up by one percent after a crucible match even after unlocking all the bonuses? Bungie can miss me with that grind.

I'm assuming the grind is supposed to be casually done without focusing on it for people who enjoy running EV all the time. 2% per Gambit match is 50 matches, enough to make anyone insane if you were grinding it hardcore. Or 1% per Strike/Crucible which is 100 Strikes or Crucible matches. Which by the time you finish, most people would just put the gun down. Not good design. I hope they don't make the same mistake next season with that Exotic.

1 Replythis is how bungie provides content. doing the same sh.tz 1000x. after you did it , you realize that the weapon isnt that good and yout need a break of the game, because the grind broke you.

Its pretty bad. Bungie's catalyst idea are pretty silly and MIDA is a good example. Grind to 5500 in comp, win a match at the level, pray for RNG, get the catalyst, get 200 precision kills to get a perk that speeds up the reload of a gun that already has a fast reload.

One of my favorite guns. Catalyst is great match too. Yes, quite a grind , but worth it IMO.

It’s bad until you get a 224 crit in PvP. Or after you realize that eriana is the way to solo 980 activities easily! It’s a fantastic weapon, whose catalyst is game changing. Ofc all the noobs and the like new light players were busy farming for izanagi. Now take your time, and go grind for that gun.

Pick your favorite primary and heavy. Leave EV equipped and use the other two.

I just turned my brain off and mindlessly played gambit prime, as that gives the most progress with the least amount of time invested. Between that, and making sure I had it at least equipped at the end of strikes and such, it still wasn't great.

I just hate that you don't even have to use the damn gun. You just need to have it on you. Thank God I finished 68% of it playing Scorched PvP. It would be nice if getting kills with it granted some progress but completing the activity gave bigger bumps.

I agree. It takes even with the Boosts from the SeasonPass too long.

Gambit prime does the most for the first step if that helps. Also getting the catalyst boosters before attempting. Or just put on erianas bow at the end of a strike, crucible match or gambit

I'm confused that nightfall ordeals don't make progress for the quest. That is where I use the thing the most

I put it on just before the match ends so I dont have to use it.
