You read that right. Not everyone wants to go to LFG and play with strangers - anxiety is a real thing - and not all of us have a ready supply of friends to do Master Nightfalls or Raids with. So the options are soloing the Pit of Heresy on each character, or...I mean, thats really it outside of special events. Solo the Master Nightmare Hunts and Master Nightfalll? I’m sorry, but I’m not that streamer person, and it’s unlikely I ever will be.
I know Destiny 2 is supposed to be about making friends, but not everyone is good at that. A lot of people aren’t good at that. There’s also significant social psychology studying the challenges of finding a place in established groups; it doesn’t happen often, especially when there is a finite amount of space in a given activity. Like a raid, or a nightfall. Or even a clan.
I see this as a problem, one exacerbated by the changes in how leveling is now essentially limitless, activity rewards are tiered, basically by accessibility - or rather, exclusivity - that’s not friendly, or fun.
EDIT: I realize, regrettably several days after posting, negatively labeling the lack of upper tier activities was unnecessary, and has been removed. Negativity is not conducive to the exchange of ideas, which is what I was hoping to promote by noting what I view as an inconsistency. Thank you.

1 ReplyIt’s not just anxiety. It’s time and obligation. I don’t want to spend time on LFG. I want to turn on my console and play. I don’t want to be obligated to a group I joined. If I’m playing a nightfall with randos and we don’t get the 100,000 score I’m not obligated to replay the strike over again. Optional matchmaking double be on every activity. It dosen’t affect anyone that doesn’t want to us it and it gives solid players on option to run content.

I do think that Crucible and Gambit reset should grant pinnacle. It’s more time consuming than doing a 100k NF.

1 ReplyEdited by C1B3D: 11/16/2019 8:35:58 PMI got my best weapons solo, Whisper with catalyst, Recluse, Mountaintop. Outside of Raids, most content can be done solo in Destiny 2.

1 ReplyI really feel sad for the new light players walking into this garbage fire of a game. You will be lucky to find a team willing to even do the older activities and those pinnacle rewards just arent worth it - they get nerfed into the ground.

1 ReplyEdited by CresterOts: 11/16/2019 10:34:48 PMPrefer solo play. Recently stumbled onto a group LFGing for Altars, while passing through. Couldn't coordinate worth a damn and kept bellyaching about not having enough time, when they wouldn't bother killing mobs for additional time. Did the same shit with 4 solos...no party and only communication was through watching each others actions...and we cleared Zydron on the second try.

All I'll say is this: I partially agree. Concerning the nightfalls and such, I'd say get a group of friends because it's easy. Heck, I'd even be your friend if you want. You seem like a cool dude to play with. However, when it comes to crucible and gambit I would agree with you. The type of player you are describing isn't only one who likes to do stuff solo, they also like to play survival. That is, they like to play non-competitive events. So far, Bungie has done a bad job to accomidate those type of people. This is evident by the fact that the pathway to a good chunk of the pinnacle weapons are through crucible or gambit. And when you get bad teamates who quit halfway through the match or are just outmatched, it sucks even more. Bungie should have already created a survival alternative to every pinnacle weapon since not all people like competitive. And to anyone who says others, you're a hypocrite. You think pvp players should be awarded for their pvp, well then shouldn't people who do alot in survival be awarded for their efforts? You may say they are, but the rewards for survival PAIL in comparison to the awards in pvp. You get far more and better pinnacle weapons from PVP than PVE. In all honesty survival players deserve more than what Bungie gives them, and it's sad that this is the case.

1 ReplyEdited by kinga: 11/15/2019 5:15:50 PMHeck why not add an LFG style add on to Destiny in place of the store tab in the menu! I would vote for match making in pinnacle activities other then raids if that could be an option put into the game for Destiny by Bungie. Lock it down to 940 or higher levels as seasons progress or even an option for those of us with a mic or not and if we want that as a requirement during matchmaking.
-
2 RepliesI feel for solo players, I really do. However, have you seen what randoms do in 920 ordeals? Imagine them in the 980 😂😂😂😂
-
1 ReplyI have anxiety and I lfg groups all the time. The worst thing that can happen is they’ll kick you but that’s unlikely. Just do it a few times and you might like it. You might even make some friends.
-
More like lack of pinnacle activities on all fronts lol... Players who are 970++ are that power bonuses not Pinnacles. Face it. The system was flawed straight from the jump. Pinnacles were designed to get your gear level past 950++ not just two or three levels lol 😂
-
3 RepliesBungie has invested to much into the clans system. I know it is hard to get a group to do raid and stuff

"Not everyone wants to use LFG, and play with strangers." In game matchmaking still requires you playing with strangers. Going through LFG, the very, "hassle," of it, at least shows a willingness to commit to the activity at hand. And even if they offered match making for raids, the Dungeon, or top tier nightfalls, you would still need to communicate and work with strangers. And since lfg can sometimes be time consuming, it helps discourage people from quickly dropping out. If it was straight matchmaking, it would only help encourage trolls, to screw with the group, imo.

1 ReplyEdited by Niinja Slayer: 11/16/2019 11:23:06 PMNo there isn’t. IB is good enough. Add Pinnacle to 2000 Valor reset.

1 ReplyI think the pinnacle system is just terrible overall tbh.

Edited by Lull9: 11/16/2019 7:59:41 PMFortunately, if you don't want to team up AT ALL then you have no need of the higher light level. 980 is only "needed" for Master Ordeals and Nightmare Hunts anyway.
I see this as a problem, one exacerbated by the changes in how leveling is now essentially limitless
That is is the opposite of the problem you are trying to claim it is. Now you can raise your light level (for no real reason) doing bounties in patrol, alone, endlessly!

1 ReplyEdited by CookieNiki: 11/16/2019 7:46:16 PMI completely relate to what you've said. However you can believe me that making the effort to get over 950 is not worth it. Your reward is zero, your advantage in the game is zero and the time wasted and burnout is huge. I've already got to 950 without running any pinnacle activity/raid/master nightfalls/dungeons, you name it. Now I just want to play the game to shoot some alien heads after work and fill up my Season Pass bar. Max power has only two objectives: - gating access to some activities; - feed some players vanity and ego; It serves no other purposes than those.
-
1 ReplyI get it, but whats the point of reach high ass light if youre not gonna be doing that High end activities that require groups and LFG?
-
2 RepliesThey should At least make all level nightfalls matchmaking optional.

I pretty much solo everything, LFG is toxic, full of elitists. Us solo players have more skill most of the time, dont get carried through everything.

23 RepliesEdited by Nohmaan: 11/16/2019 7:55:24 AMAnxiety disorders are a real thing. It's like telling someone with attention disorders to sit still and read. And if you feel like it's a "get over it" sort of thing, you don't have an anxiety disorder, just normal human anxiety/stress. My brother, for example, has extreme anxiety meeting new people resulting from PTSD from a pretty bad incident on deployment and is why I'm in a 3 person clan with my bros exclusively. He tries, but still can't "get over it". You don't have to agree with the desire, but you sure as shit don't have to be oblivious to the fact that everyone is different and your experiences don't translate into everyone's experiences.

2 RepliesYes I would like to get thorn as well as outlast prime but the last strike part will prevent that.

All from the stupid star map they just had to have.
That or also just design things players can solo, and then just easier with a team.
Oh wait they have guided games but decide to remove it from activities arbitrarily and make it reliant on clan participation. Also arbitrary. What's more is back in Halo Reach they gave players options on the sort of players they want to connect with. Things like just for fun, good connection etc. There's no reason they can't do that now. Except for the not wanting to put in effort towards a good experience. It all goes towards addictive investment shite and eververse. It's wonderful knowing that people with a psychology background are the best at making games fun and rewarding to just play on their own gameplay merits. Yet are now relegated to making addictive investment systems.

1 ReplyEdited by CAT 5 Hurricane: 11/16/2019 8:51:06 PMI believe there are a lot more players wanting solo pinnacle events but they don't share their opinions because of the negative backlash you are receiving. People forget this was posted to Bungie not them and they are looking at ways to fix you, make you wrong, when in fact their opinions don't have more value than yours. The post stating that Bungie pushed to make this multiplayer for the sake of bringing people together is ridiculous. Their goal is to bring in as many people as possible for monetary gain. Just look at Eververse store and how it has completely evolved into a money pit. Now you can buy stuff while playing because you see someone else with ornaments you like. I don't fault them for this, it's a business, but don't create a facade for an effective business model. I feel the same way after enough bad experiences with LFG/raids, I would love to have more solo pinnacle events so that I am able to get to the light level I feel comfortable playing with others in top tier events. Don't get me wrong I met some really amazing players and people using LFG but it's sadly a low percentage, not the norm. What you are experiencing with the critical posts is an element in the D2 gaming community that is being fostered by BUNGiE themselves. They push for a very competitive environment evident in the new leveling up process. I wish people would remember this is a game and everyone has opinions and to disagree is OK just try and be respectful. I would love to see more quests for solo's that would give pinnacle gear. Hang in there and find good players that don't stress you out and enjoy the game.

4 Replies90% of this game can be played solo and done with a little bit of time and planning. If something requires you to join a group to complete it faster or even be able to complete it at all, then just look past it and move on. This would be a really sucky game if everything was able to be done solo and by people with no skill. It was almost that way when Destiny 2 first shipped. It was called the Destiny Barbie edition. No talent or skill required. Just need to have an eye for fashion and enjoy getting so many rewards constantly that it made your vault run out of space really fast. The game sucked major assage at that point. Get past the awkwardness and meet people. Quit with excuses and just make friends. It really isn't that hard and like most things in life, it takes an effort on your part to get done. Not to be mean but someone who claims social anxieties in a virtual world has really got to do some serious self evaluations on themselves in the entire context of the universe. Basically you are screwed if you don't get over it. Imagine you pass away and get sent to heaven and tell god that you would be much happier alone. Next thing you know, you are alone for eternity. My grandfather said it best. A stranger is just a friend you haven't met yet.

1 ReplyPinnacles was just a bad idea overall.
