Erratic framerates and crashes when trying to do non intensive stuff eg. select mods on armor mid game, raids etc

I play on 1080p with some settings on low, 105 fov and depth of field off. I used to average around 144 95% of the time when the game was on bnet and experienced no crashes. Having said that I am struggling to understand why the framerate dips so hard when trying to apply mods on my armor, mid raid or in orbit. Its not consistently low but I dont like the fps dipping that low for no reason. Other places where I have noticed frame rates are low for no reason are: Scourge of the past last boss phase 2, fps dips to around 80-70 but both cpu and gpu are not even being utilised properly. Garden of salvation final phase also brings my framerate low to around 60 to 80. The weakest component in my build is my processor, is it just me who is facing these issues? Will a 6 core or a 8 core 16 thread processor fix my issues? My specs: Latest windows build, 6700k, 1080ti, 3200hz ram 8x2 and the game is installed on a ssd.

  • Hopefully they have better luck fixing your issue than they did with mine. I gave up on PC because the game started freezing after about a minute or two in, and nobody seems to be able to figure out why. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • Mines been stuttering since the weekly reset and I've noticed my cpu usage drop to like 2% then jump back up again making it impossible to play. Reinstalled it on another hdd and it still happens

    • I get the same thing on Xbox One X. When I'm in the menus or configuring something like my Artifact, I can hear the Fan noise increase dramatically as the CPUs spike and then the cursor jerks across the screen as I move it and I get horrible frame drops. It's like watching a slide show. As soon as I close the menu or windows, the Xbox Fan drops back to normal and the frame stuttering stops completely.

      • I've been unable to play since Thursday due to stuttering, I've even made a post in this exact topic. It's miserable.
