I heard so much good reviews about this expansion for a few weeks before i began playing destiny again. The hype was pure smoke. This might be my least favorite update in years.
The armor cosmetic changes was one of two things i thought was progress. The other would be the new nightfall and champions that exist within them. I think that was a fun way to engage obstacles. Having to loadout your team with not only the elements for matchgame shields but the mods to take on the champions was a fairly fun addition.
However The armor 2.0 is complete crap, 3500 tokens and 10k gunsmith material and i barly broke half the mods.
AGAIN there was no actual content, 2 strikes one of which is a story mission. Removed crucible maps but left a few of the worst EVER made in 6 years. Half the moon story is just collecting armor xD. The vex offensive is actually completely pointless outside of bounty completions. The rewards for that game mode can be just as easily collected from moon patrols and the armor can be obtained anywhere. Why does the vex offensive exsist???
The alter of sorrow isn't to bad but in terms of a casual experience most players there suck so killing the boss isn't alway a sure fire endeavor. Not to bring up the fact that it just a new version of something they release every year except this time there is no mechanics. Killing adds before a boss is not mechanics.
The festival of the lost is a complete repeat of last year the ONLY THING DIFFERENT, bungie bent us over on the cosmetics.
Which leads me to my next point, eververse has gotten the most shitty change of all. They whispered in your ear before the update to sell the things you don't want but they honestly should have just called out they were about rape to peoples wallets. Nobody wants to spend 12 million glimmer in bounties for bright dust to buy cosmetics. There is already a fairly decent amount of things in the store that are exclusively purchased with silver, why force that to be the only acceptable means to collect any year three items as well as the seasonal event items... Are y'all really that broke that everything needs to be in there? Hell you got knees get down and use them if you need money.
The season pass tiers isn't new or creative every game does it, but i do actually prefer it. Giving year two items is what kills that system though. Many games like Warframe, fortnite, CoD all use this type of system and none of those games reward outdated items in theirs.
All that aside I experienced the biggest disappointment for this release last week. The new dungeon... If it could classify as that. It was a glorified mission in terms of D1 content. It had 1 drop that was worth anything and was so rediculously easy I went through it in 20 minutes while learning the mechanics myself blind. Comparing that to shatter throne!!! Is completely laughable.
This release had what 10 exotics? 1 armor per character which was given to you for nothing, and 3 guns there are below average or otherwise useless if your not fighting champions. What happened to the d1 exotic quest like touch of malice? That was fun to do and didn't require you to mindlessly farm things. It had it own little story to it.
Honestly i enjoy destiny but im so ready to just be done. To waste time on a game that the developers are half assing everything is pointless. You have stated yourself that "Bungie was founded in 1991 with two goals" one of which was to "develop kick ass games with captivating storytelling and deep gameplay". You have failed to meet your own expectations and I really do hope I see change. Your game is dry to me and im sure many others. Let the return fire commence diehard fans Lmao the SHADOWKEEP IS CRAP!!
