I am a competitive player at heart, I love the thrill of a close game where it's a coin toss as to who will win the match.
That being said, that doesn't mean I want to try my absolute hardest every match I get in. The mere existence of SBMM in the casual game modes is terrible for above average players. Oh, you want to queue up with a skyburners or a random blue weapon to have fun? That's tough buddy, you are a good player, so here's a six stack of dust rock NF wardcliff users. Have fun :)
That is literally my crucible experience, I either have to nut up and slap on my dust rock and NF or I get literally bullied. What is fun about that? I have to actually try my ass off to even be able to compete, there is nothing remotely enjoyable about that. Crucible is a shitshow right now, and this is the first time ever that I dont want to play this game.
I honestly dont know what they can do to fix it. The old matchmaking was leagues better than this mess. The least they can do is move where classic mix is in the directory so it can possibly get a little bit of traction.
If you have any suggestions drop the down below, or call me bad or whatever you people do.
Edit: People seem to think that I queue up in a stack? I'm a solo player. 90% of the time I play this game I do it alone. The only time I have a fireteam is for scrims, raids, and comp.

13 RepliesEdited by TheArtist: 11/10/2019 6:44:00 PMIf you aren’t willing to play people who can give you a game every time you step into the arena then you aren’t “competitive at heart.” Former athlete here. If you argues for your “right” to suit up against people of significantly less ability than yourself, because you don’t feel like making your best effort? At best you’d lose the respect of your team mates. At worst they’d tell you to clean out your locker and go home. You kids don’t understand the difference between PRACTICE, and PLAY. If you want to practice with a different loadout NOTHING is stopping you.

Edited by Beagler: 11/12/2019 8:15:00 AMMomentum Control is where anyone can go in with any weapons and compete. I don't agree with SBMM but you're not making a very good case.

3 RepliesEdited by UncleObscene: 11/11/2019 10:01:01 AMIf SBMM matches you against folks of "Your" skill......are you saying that lower skilled players aren't playing against skilled players of their level ? Are they sweating or just playing to have fun ? This arguement is that....you want to go in and sweat against lower skilled players. Lots of folks like to throw around the "git gud" when lower skilled players whine about being matched against better players. Going by this moniker...you should be really improving your game by playing with these sweats all the time. The" Irony " when the wind changes its direction.

Who in their right mind takes Bungie's no dedicated servers, unbalanced pvp seriously?
-
Two things Private matches LFG About as chill as you can make it, some people just wanna have fun in pvp private

1 ReplyEdited by Samurai-Jack-420: 11/11/2019 5:32:22 PMI think all the sweat should just go into survival and -blam!- block all the people trying to get the legend, then when all the whiny casuals start complaining then maybe bungie will fix quick play.

2 RepliesEdited by Supreme Service: 11/10/2019 8:44:56 PMYou guys in the replies talking about “oh you don’t want to play people your skill and be competitive” all rude like, as said by Failsafe, “kindly delete yourself”. One could also say that you want to stay in the lower tiers of crucible, since you don’t want to be competitive. Regardless, there are TWO main PvP playlists. QUICKplay, and COMPETITIVE aka Survival now. Comp/Survival should have tight sbmm, and in my personal experience this season (freelance), it very much does for the most part. QUICKplay on the other hand, is very far from quickplay. If you want to chill, QUICKplay should be the way to go. You shouldn’t be getting the COMP experience in QUICKplay. It’s that simple. No one should come out of Comp, go into QP, and get the same experience, even for those that are below average. They might not be able to pass fabled or legend, but they should be able to have a decent time in QP. Bottom line is, a lot of you below average (nothing wrong with it btw) people complaining about average+ people complaining, just can’t. Simply because you have not the slightest idea of what they’re speaking of. You don’t play at high levels, and you more than likely have no interest in getting there. Meanwhile, those higher tier players know what the lower tier are complaining about because they’ve leaped over that hurdle already and remember the experience. We currently have 4 general brackets Below Average Average Above Average Top tier If you’ve played any game with ranking you should know how the graph goes, regardless of skill level. Below average and top tier contain the smallest amount of players, while average and above average contain the most amount of players. It’s a very different experience in each rank. Think of it like traveling. Below average is the first destination while top tier is the last. If you’ve only been to Below Average, you have 0 idea about the other places. While if you’ve made it to above average, you know about the previous places since you’ve been there. TLDR While players should try and of course not be braindead, they shouldn’t have to try like their life depends on it; Every. Single. Game. QUICKplay needs a fix. Players that are not too skillful and do not understand what exactly that feels like, have invalid opinions. p.s: If you’re calling yourself sweaty and meaning good/top tier, you’re most likely not even close. There’s being confident, then there’s being “hey guys I’m better than all of you but I’m actually a potato

Edited by Hero: 11/12/2019 2:48:28 AMI personally LOVE sbmm. As I’ve said before, whenever I’m stomping on noobs, it feels fake, as if I’m cheating myself. I’d rather play people of my skill or better than to waste my time on lesser competition. If I get a 4.0, it better be against people of my skill in order for that high KDA to mean something. Your experience described how low end players feel, so why would you wish that on them?? Lame. Edit: I am a DRB/NF/Wardcliff user lol, my only defense against others running it but I also happen to love using NF.
-
8 RepliesThe problem is that "good" players DON'T run Skyburner's (or similar off-meta stuff) in QP pretty much EVER. They run TLW/Spare Rations/Austringer/Ace & Beloved Or Crutchrock/Not Forgotten So for the 1% of the time that a high skill player is actually just "goofing around" the low skill players get shit on the other 99% of the time. Sorry, NOPE. Life's a -blam!- fella.
-
I have to actually try my ass off to even be able to compete, there is nothing remotely enjoyable about that.
You know what else isn't enjoyable? Lesser skilled players having some random veteran running around mindlessly stomping on them. That's why SBMM is there.
-
3 RepliesPeople know classic is there they chose not to go into it. The average and below average players were farmed for a year when there was no SBMM. Bungie did the right thing and gave the players a choice. What did you think was going to happen the lower players would go to classic and continue to be farmed? Remember this my friend you and the other tryhards did this to yourself, so suck it up Nancy and take your sweating to the classic playlist list and have fun.
-
Classic Mix Freelance. That's your solution. I like SBMM because I'm just "ok" at PVP, and I enjoy sweating it out against folks I feel like I can beat. My individual performance is improving, with more positive than negative KD according to Destiny Tracker, and I feel like I'm actually able to learn to out play people. I expect that means that my opponents will be getting harder, but that's ok because I'm getting better. The only thing I don't like about SBMM is that it punishes me for playing with more skilled friends. The balancing in those matches tends be off in 1v1 duels, probably because I'm dealing with higher skilled players.
-
5 Repliesyou can have relaxed games with non meta loadouts on classic mix... the problem is that you want relax stomping bad players... long lives SBMM...
-
Edited by Myles222: 11/12/2019 12:44:08 AMTHE hardcore mode I'd like to see... take a page from Battlefield and have friendly fire, your points go down if kill a teammate. Put in basic weapon kits everyone picks from. Then it'd be about skill and teams working together.

22 RepliesGonna use your own words against you. " I have to actually try my ass off to even be able to compete, there is nothing remotely enjoyable about that. " Do you not understand that without SBMM this is what happens to MOST of the community? Why should the top 2% not have to sweat, while the rest have to as you say, actually try my ass off to even be able to compete, there is nothing remotely enjoyable about that.

Momentum mode comes close, ttk and no radar are key, id like to see less power ammo and slower super and abilities.
-
No radar. No on spawn special ammo. No on kill special/heavy ammo drops. No multiple heavy ammo, once a match. Ability recharge rate -20%. Super ability recharge rate -30%. Gear based triggers health regen denied. Gear based triggers overshield denied. Status effect duration (burnt, suppression, blindness, etc.) doubled. During matchmaking process, gear is exchangeable but when mm is finished, will remain locked during match, same goes for class change.

6 RepliesHow can you call yourself ‘competitive at heart’ if you don’t want to fight someone of your skill.
-
I agree with you majority of the "skilled players" only use meta anyway as low tier players can use any weapon and actually have fun. I'd rather be a low tier player and have fun in the crucible instead of being an unbroken right now dealing with 95% of the players I go against using the same load out as the other 100 players I went against that day
-
I'm actually pretty decent at crucible and I keep losing every match because I keep getting potatoes on my team.
-
The game should match premades with premades in regular because the amount of KD farmers in stacks are so common that I feel wouldn't be a long wait for them to be match against each other. People like them are the types to take a lvl 100 mewtwo, blow up 2000 magikarps, and brag like they faced the best of the best to achieve those ratios.

Edited by DHawk12: 11/11/2019 9:26:01 AMSolution: -Team based matchmaking w/dedicated servers -Tiered progression depending on skill bracket (1-5x loot quantity/quality, valor/xp/bounty/quest/triumph progression) Post game rewards and progression shouldnt be the same for both 800 elo players and 2000 elo players.
