So. Question.
Do exo guardians retain their memories from pre-ressurection? Some lore tabs seem to indicate so, yet there is no reason that should be the case. Fundamentally, a computer's memory and a human's are one and the same, based off of replicated data through electricity. So it doesn't make sense to me why that would be the case, if it is.
Also, is there a lore-explained reason as to why exos can even be resurrected? They're machines, with human thought processes. More advanced than that, sure, but from a certain perspective the mind of cayde-6 is hardly different than that of failsafe (instability aside).
Ah, one other gripe on that topic, if the Light can repair complex machinery such as in exos, why then can Guardians not use their ghosts to repair things such as computers? Unless emotes are non-canon they have been shown to be able to affect the physical environment around them using Light, such as allowing out Guardian to sit in what would otherwise be open air (though this means the Light construct also affects the ground, as per Newton's second law), so the argument that a ghost's light cannot affect things that are not our guardian is only half-correct.
Anyway, thanks all for reading, looking forward to any questions, answers, derogatory comments, or whatever else you may be inclined to comment with. And good night.
Also, belated happy Halloween to you all.

Keep in mind that an exo is not an AI. An exo is a human consciousness put into a machine body. Which is why they can be revived. And exos do have a better shot at remembering their past lives than other guardians but they also could easily forget it all by having their memory reset (gaining another number).

Edited by Grays_KS27: 11/5/2019 2:22:24 PMExo Guardians do retain some scraps of memory, and are the only Guardians that can remember their previous names (though there was one Awoken Guardian -a member of the Six Coyotes- who claimed to remember his name). We don’t know why. The problem is that you’re thinking of an Exo as an advanced AI, like Failsafe or Servitors. Exos are not. Using matter encryption technology (the same stuff as Glimmer, Engrams, transmat, etc.) the human consciousness was turned into code and moved into a metal shell. The technology is science fiction and there’s no full explanation, but it’s distinctly different from stuff like computers and AI. This isn’t the same as computer chips and data banks or whatever. Exos are humans. There are many things we don’t understand about Ghosts, but they heal Exo bodies as if they were human bodies. And Guardians can manifest physical objects with the Light (swords, guns, over-glorified sticks, knives, walls, shields, chairs, etc.). The Light is slightly paracausal energy, not actual light and not just regular electricity and fire. And the Guardian is the one using the Light, not the Ghost. The Ghosts use the Light in much more subtle ways, usually interaction with technology (transmat and door-opening). And a belated Happy Halloween to you too :)
