I think Famine on 980 nightfalls is a little much.

Don't get me wrong. I love the new difficulty of the content. I just feel like famine presents a lot of RNG in terms of how your run goes. This week, there are several times where there are multiple barrier enemies right next to each other. The only anti barrier primaries we have are close range, and due to famine we have no special. See the problem? Now we have to wait around and wait for an opportunity to teamshot one at a time because all we have is primary ammo. Primaries don't do enough damage to kill them quickly, so taking on the group of 2 or 3 at once is suicide. Then there's the problem I had, which was no pimary ammo for 70% of the strike. Really hard for someone to contribute to their team when RNG limits their lethality. Again, I like the difficulty, but I think famine makes the difficulty more artificial than anything. I'd prefer difficulty that wasn't centered around RNG. Edit: I'm very well aware about the mods that make this modifier pretty much nonexistent, but I'd hardly call slapping on a mod "adapting to increased difficulty." RNG is a lazy, artificial way to increase difficulty. I'd much rather have Juggler or limited reserves than Famine. No RNG there, and you'll have to do more to adapt. And it would make the activity harder as well, but it would also promote a more dynamic method of dealing with the challenge. Maybe a method that encompasses your entire loadout rather than just one mod slot.

  • RNG is the best thing about this game. If you don’t like it then i can’t help you. I love the unknown surprise factor of this game

Put anti-barrier/overload/unstoppable rounds on your relevant primaries. EV isn't the only gun in the game that can take down barriers. With exotics and ascendant shards pretty much guaranteed, I don't have a problem with it. Also, use your finisher mods!! These are criminally underused.

      • I've always hated Bungie's take on the ammo economy in D2, but I think this season, coordinating the different ammo mods from the artifact is what they're kind of wanting you to look at.

          • I was running an AR with anti-barrier. Sad damage. 34 bullets to kill a red bar on the 980 NF. IDK, but having bullet sponge adds is not my idea of fun nor does the thought of picking them off one by one and slowly grinding the activity have any appeal. After about 10 mins it was back to orbit for my fire team. These modifiers, coupled with increased health, plus the power lvl really make the 980 NF seem stupid, not fun. Perhaps there should/could be some positive modifiers included. Remember small arms? That allowed you to use any arch type of primary and still quickly kill. Thank that dumb scrawny streamer for the 980 NF in its present iteration.
