"Obsidian Crystal Collected"

Consumed the Obsidian Crystal item for the Izanagi's Burden Quest. Nothing happened and the quest stayed the same. Is this supposed to be a bug or a feature?

Same here just grinded 2 1/2 hours of forges for nothing, really disappointed right now.
