The shaders would be extremely unorganized and hard to look through.
If you want to just make the collections cost glimmer only and have the cryptarch have a delete all option, then go ahead.
But do not throw all 197 shaders into a single box.

How would the proposed method differ from the current method in terms of having shaders appear in a box? Right now, if you want to change the shader on a piece of gear it is effectively the same as the new mod system so I’m interested to hear why you think it’d be a bad idea.

There are almost 200 shaders. There is also currently a 50 shaders limit, I’m pretty sure that the mods don’t have 50 per slot per energy type. Unless you suggest that shaders also have an energy type?

No, you would just select the shader you want on a piece of gear just like you would select a mod. You can do that now under Appearance. All of those shaders exist in a single UI box and it wouldn't be too difficult to allow for 200.

They already said that having the mods all in a single box caused lag. And there were for sure less than 200 that would appear at a time per slot.

i see 2 workarounds for the "single box" you speak of; you could ping/register your favourites so those are always the first to come up or; they arrange the shaders almost like a colour pallete - lets be honest here a lot of the shaders are redundant af - so you could organize them accordingly. Ultimately - i would like an actual colour pallette. There's only 4 colour options per shader, how hard would it be to give us those options.

I would still prefer if the collections just costed the glimmer fee you speak of. It would be the same, except you have to go through the collections menu.
-
my whole point is you have to keep doing this shuffle of checking your collections and then your actual inventory and then different armors use the colour positions (1-4) on different parts of the armor. Then the appearance tab for some reason only shows 2 rows at a time whereas your actual shader inventory shows everything on you. Its a mess of a UI.

I still think that showing all 197 shaders at the same time could cause tons of lag. And I’m not sure that an organization system within the slot would be best. Maybe a better preview system so you don’t have to go back and forth, but putting them all as simple toggleables would be laggy
