Extremely slow load time when changing zones, audio lag/chopping

I'm experiencing extremely long load times when I change zones in game. Whether walking between areas of the Tower, a patrol destination, or sections of a strike of about 2-4 minutes. Before Friday, October 18th I was having instant zone transition times and would never see the "Loading..." spinner on PC. Exodus Black was particularly painful in terms of loading - transition form strike to public area, 2nd public area, then back into the strike. Both time I ran it, my teammates cleared out the last section of enemies and started the boss fight before I loaded in. I'm also experiencing severe audio choppiness/lag. This is more notable in 6-player activities like Vex Offensive, were I'll lose most or all sound for 5-10 seconds at a time. In other areas of the game, my sound will be delayed 1-2 seconds from the effect that caused it - for example, sparrow boos sounds play after I've already been boosting. * Windows 10 x64 Pro - 1903, with all current updates installed * AMD FX-8350 * XFX AMD Radeon RX 580 (8 GB) - Radeon Software 19.10.2 * 16 GB DDR3 * Samsung Evo 850 SSD (SATA; OS installed here) * Samsung Evo 840 SSD (SATA; Destiny 2 installed here) I've tried blocking my Steam friends, playing Destiny 2 on a fresh Steam account on a different Windows account, forcing IPv4 communication. I've ensured my (2) ports are forwarded for D2 and it shows (in-game) as Open NAT, and that Destiny 2 and Steam are allowed through the Windwos Firewall. My framerates aren't perfect, but they also feel about the same as they did before this problem began. Any suggestions on what I could try next? Is there a (current) known issue with the Radeon RX 580 and Destiny 2? I've got an older card I could try (Radeon R9 270X 2GB).

  • Fixed this issue by setting up my paging file properly.

    • Anyone been able to fix it without buying a new computer? I know there is a fix, I have fixed it or it fixed itself somehow. For the most part everything is playable just annoying to have the audio glitches, players running around with the loading graphic, sometimes you switch to a weapon and it takes time to load, 15 sec load stops between areas. Sure the game is playable but I know it can be fixed to run how it should run.

I can confirm that it's not the card, my friend has it and works ok with the game, i suspect it's the cpu, the game has become somewhat more cpu hungry than before, requiring at least a 6 core cpu to work properly, as 2 of my friends upgraded to one of those cpus one from intel and the other from amd, and they have zero issues. P.s.: Your current cpu isn't a true 8 core (more like a 4 core 8 thread cpu), so it doesn't count, you should upgrade to a ryzen 3600 for optimal price/performance.
