So, I've tried to go for some PVP weapons like recluse.
But I'm getting stomped match after match and when I look at my opponents they are almost always fabled, Mythic, heroic last tier and so forth. Meanwhile I'm just a guy sitting in Brave ranking.
For some reason I'm continously going up against players with a skill gap way higher then mine. I thought there were some Massive changes to how skill was measured and how the matches would be based upon that.
I'm seeing the exact opposite.
Anyone else experiencing this? I can understand not every game can be 100% balanced but it seems that for some reason I'm getting put in matches where I don't even belong.
I know I'm not a good pvp player but how to improve if every match I'm way outclassed?
Edit: strange, after my post here, suddenly all even matches and made Fabled with some sweet wins.. Got Recluse

I keep getting paired with mythic players. All the games I'm in are against players of 4500-5500 glory. I literally just hit heroic with a little above 1000. Why bungie?

2 RepliesDm me I'll link you my steam we will get you to 2100

You’re going to get to fabled lol. You don’t even have to win half your games. Plus you get extra bonus points just for playing 3 games a week.
-
I just finished this and yes it often feels this way. Crush or get crushed. Idk why but if you’re queuing into Freelance, don’t. It’s terrible in there. Queue into normal survival and it’s way easier.

To speed up matchmaking. If you haven't noticed, matchmaking takes longer than it used to (especially IB) because Bungie listened to whiners
-
You've just been getting unlucky but fortunately you gain a ton of glory now on a win but only lose a very small amount on a loss. Even if you're winning ONLY 10% of your games that's more than enough to get you to fabled. Absolutely DO NOT give up. It's easier than ever to get to fabled and with patience you'll get there. You will get mercilessly stomped along the way but if you keep playing you'll eventually get there. Good luck.

1 ReplyYou doing solo comp or regular
-
3 RepliesDepends if you're playing on a win day or a lose day. I may be the only one who gets these. One day, I'll lose almost every match of anything I play. The next day, I win nearly every match. Just play comp on your win days ;)

1 ReplyYou know, I don't consider myself as a good PvP player in Destiny. Reached GM in Overwatch, but I can't compare theses 2 games. In D2, I'm at 1.90. Recently, a friend and me, we decided to try the comp. And yes, the big huge majority of my game, i'm matched against players in full team, who are largely over me in the rank. But, guess what ? In one week we reach 3000. How ? Adaptation. And it's sad, but for win against people who are so far from you in the ladder, you must play the worst strategy. Heavy ammo camping, super for shutdown ennemy super, and the most stupid weapon you can find. I know PvP is just a butthurt in this game, but you can do it :) Just remember that : you don't play for doing activity you don't like. You can perfectly do the entire game without the stupidly powerfull loadout of Mountaintop/Recluse, and pinnacle weapons in PvP are not necessary for taking pleasure while playing.

Matchmaking changed. You now face people of your own skill level instead of getting to pubstomp like last seasons.

3 RepliesSolo comp is rigged change my mind.

Edited by Boldly Going Nowhere: 10/26/2019 4:20:57 PMThat game you played 6 hours ago on Burnout is atrocious matchmaking, looking at the other teams stats. As frustrating and lopsided as it can be sometimes (half the time, let's be honest), keep trying though man, you got this.

Got a friend on New Light last night for shits. Went into PVP. This guy can't do much of anything even move very well. Like your 3 ,yo daughter playing. Who's he matches against? You already know. Pretty sad state, nothing new tho

1 ReplyBro I was sitting at about 4500 or so and kept getting people that were around 700 glory as well (on my team) so I'm not sure what's going on with that either.
-
3 RepliesSeriously, don't bother with the Freelance playlist. There are plenty of 2 man teams that need a 3rd. Stick close, but not so close you get wiped by a Super or heavy, watch the heavy, and try to control it. The team that gets the most heavy is going to win 90% of the time. Also, every single map only has about 2 paths teams take. For example, Bannerfall. Either the opponents are going right down the middle to the heavy, 1 person will usually be sitting on the top with a scout or sniper rifle waiting for the person doing the same on the other team. Or, they go outside in the open area and watch the heavy from the ledge. Learn those routes. Some teams do the exact same thing every round, and it's easy to knock them out 4-0.

4 RepliesYeah, I was having the same problem. Every loss I had had someone on the other team was at 4200 or higher glory, while I was at 600. People told me to stop complaining because it matches you up against people of similar skill, and to stop whining. Thing is, I only have around a 1 kd in comp, and every single one of those games was a pure stomping. It’s not balanced matchmaking at all right now based on players of your own skill. It’s literally just throwing you in with whoever it finds. These players were significantly better than me. Thankfully, you only loses little bit of glory, but still. It’s frustrating.

3 RepliesBroken, 40th loss streak going against stacks in freelance. Skill gap isn't even close, and every match has even more sweaty enemies, some matches I get an enemy player on my team from the previous match and they don't even help getting 0 kills from having 20+ the previous game. Not enjoyable at all Bungie
-
This happens at the beginning of the season. Everyone is on the same plane so you're going to play people who should be at 5500 in the lower ranks. I get that some people you're playing against are fabled or mythic already but it should be skill based, so technically they could've been carried to that level. Dont let level fool you, plenty of people out there with unbroken who were carried every season. Just play your game and not theirs and you'll be alright.
-
Seasonal resets put you up against unbrokens and players already having a NF. At a certain moment even if you never have gotten the Not Forgotten you will only play these sweats and cheaters because of the 5500 cap.

Edited by Pleanio: 10/26/2019 2:08:47 PMI just started comp for the recluse (and got it) and had a great experience in freelance in total. But I also saw a lot of very one-sided matches. Thing is using the rank, that gets heavily boosted (as some pointed out) is prob not a good indicator of performance compared to kd, kda etc. and I doubt Bungo uses this. But as with other mode, I think they prioritize matching time over everything else and that will not change. Still, the freelance matches were better than being matches with solos vs a full premade what still happens quite often...

1 ReplyEdited by Johnny 2794: 10/26/2019 10:42:39 AMI solo nf it took me 3 weeks only to find out the weapon it's shit I waste my -blam!-ing time
-
1 ReplyIt is almost entirely based on the skill of your *Fireteam* now, I got to legend, while carrying 2 of my friends in less than a week, when in season 4 it took me a month only to hit Fabled, if you bring friends that are new to the game, it will match you with worse opponents, if your even a little above average in crucible, you can easily hit fabled doing this We had a 24 comp win streak going, we literally didn't lose a game during it And the first game in comp when I wasn't playing with them I instantly got 2 Unbroken, NF users on the enemy team and was annihilated, so yeah

What system
-
Matchmaking is super busted, last time I played comp (Mythic btw) I only fought 2 or 3 teams of Mythic and legends... the rest were fabled blueberries aka free wins lmaoo. They gotta fix this, I can't improve if I never match against people higher skill then me and it seems the I can't get opponents of similar skill. Really lame.
