Do any of the listed activities give more progress than others, or do they all give the same amount?

0.5% for normal strikes 2% for Gambit Prime 1% for everything else

Anything thats over fast: Mayhem, team Scorch. Both activities where you don't even use it.

5 RepliesJust so you know the catalyst gives you a whopping 3 extra rounds in the magazine and auto loading holster. Food for thought...
-
2 RepliesGambit Prime gives 2x, other activities give 1x. Ordeal does not count as a strike for this quest, sadly, and won't give any progress.

Gambit Prime gives the most gain at 2%.

Gambit Prime awards the most efficient progress.

Equip it then go "play" mayhem. Max discipline and just spin round chucking nades like a loon.

I wonder how long before players start afk'ing w/ random movement in repeating activities, to finish the quest. I've already seen a few...

I saw gambit prime gives most not completely sure tho

I get 3% per prime match, 2% per vex offensive, 1% per playlist strike. These figure are both before and after I claimed triple progession, and with a clan teammate who was only getting 2% per prime match even though he has triple progression as well. Ergo, the triple progression catalyst is confirmed bugged. Let's see how many twabs, months, and seasons it takes for Bungie to admit it.

I don't have experience in all areas, but I got 2% per gambit prime match and didn't see it move after a run through the ordeal (maybe it's 1/2% or something, or nothing I dunno). But a quick browser search hasn't turned up anything that just flat spells it out that I can find. I think learning to solo the SoS ball toss to get the sleeper catalyst might be less painful than this grind.

I think it's all the same but i'm not sure. I had it equiped while farming medals for randy's throwing knife and a single match granted 1% progress. I would just try to multitask completing powerful gear objectives in strikes, crucible, gambit (if you have any left) and equiping eriana's vow.
