I’ll break it down into categories
Main Story: TTK wins. Oryx coming is still the only major story point we have that doesn’t feel like a side story or stalling until the rest of the pyramid ships arrive. Cayde’s death was interesting and the twist at the end was okay I’m Forsaken but it was more of a lead up to the secondary story. Had they done the twist halfway and had us hunt some smaller Ahamkara in the story too (maybe Riven had children idk?) it could have been great.
Secondary story: Taken war vs Dreaming City - Forsaken wins. The time loop and the changing city was great. The Taken war was good to see the invasion affecting every area but not good enough.
Raid: Warning controversial - Kingsfall wins. It was too grand, too epic. Seeing Oryxs body float off when we won. Each of the bosses was good and we essentially had 4 if you include the singers. The area was huge. It was greatly connected to main story of the game as a whole. The maze was cool, the dick wall was cool, jumping across hive ships was cool. The first time in there is the fondest memory I have of either game. Also I liked both hard mode and the original challenge modes being added for the first time here compared to bounty challenges.
Other new activities - Forsaken wins. Court of Oryx was cool but add the Shattered Throne and Forsakens own version of the court in and you get greatness.
New Exotics: TTK wins. A good amount of armor. Three exotic swords, a great raid exotic quest, three class specific exotics, Taken War quest exotic, and many more... I could go on...
Weapon changes: you might think this comes down to sidearms and swords vs bows but there is more to discuss here. Forsaken did bring the weapon system back to glory in a way but it also still kept some things limited. For instance a shotgun that they determined belongs in the first slot now keeps you from using better primary weapon archetypes at the same time as that shotgun. So things like Perfect Paradox were maybe used much less. On the other hand D1 didn’t really need to fix anything here. Instead they got to try something fun like adding 3 class specific weapons and 3 class specific exotics. These were very interesting and exciting and along with the new swords and making sidearms more widespread than just the two from House of Wolves I’d say TTK takes this one.
New locations: Some might be tempted to give this one to Forsaken as it gave us both the Tangled Shore and The Dreaming City while TTK only gave us the Dreadnaught. However the Dreadnaught was not only huge but full of random little activities and mysteries. I’m gunna call this one time.
Quests: easily TTK. Certain calcified fragments themselves had interesting and secret ways to obtain them like the scent chest. All exotic swords had a quest. All class specific weapons. The scout rifle form Taken war quests.
There are also things like subclasses vs subclass trees that are added but no need to compare that too much. A little unfair since D2 started with three per class.
Overall I feel TTK wins. I also feel we won’t even have any competition for it until Savathun finally shows up. What do you guys think?

TTK brought the game into a state of Vanilla+ so I’m gonna have to say Forsaken.

2 Replies[well, I would contend that Forsaken includes better collectibles and lore than TTK, especially surrounding some of the main characters. The lore surrounding uldren in his D2 lore book really explains his actions and behavior of D1 and why he’s batshit crazy in D2. We learn a shit ton of lore about the awoken through 2-3 lore books. We learn a bit about how ghosts think and they’re reasoning in the Ghost stories lore book. The biggest thing we got in TTK (imho) was the books of sorrow which really just made Oryx look like a terrible sibling and father, outside of that it was all kinda stuff we knew about the hive. Plus the placement of some of these were more creative in Forsaken, as it wasn’t limited to the new locations, where in TTK all our lore collectables were within the dreadnaught.]
