I'm a D1 and D2 veteran and I'm trying to get some friends into destiny 2 seeing as new light offers a great opportunity for new players to join the fight.
This is if they can figure out how to even do that or reach the requirements that other players demand in order to even let them. I spent the last like hour trying to get the whisper portal to open so that my buddy that *NEEDS* the whisper so that players will even let the damn guy try the raid for the first time. like does anyone else see that this issue of toxic pve metas that if you don't have the thing (which most new light players don't have the time, dedication, or understanding to even do) people will just tell you to -blam!- off and get better at the game. the current state of the game is just a complete turn off to new players. They just wanna shoot things with their friends in a new environment and have a good time. no one wants to open a new game and grind for like an hour to get something they don't understand. maybe more accessibility to older quest light straight up ques or guided games for events like whisper and zero hour? it needs stream lining for people to be able to join their friends and actually do all the events right off that bat like what was advertised because as it stands right now, I've got frustrated and disappointed friends that went from potential players to probably never again.

Yo man you are full of "it" ! First whisper is not required by anyone since the Warlock boots nerf so that a LIE ! And if its "too confusing for new players" they will learn or they dont belong simple as that ! Natural selection at its finest . If your friend cant handle it cut him loose and tell him play something else unless he is willing to put the effort in to the game to learn and become a decent player . Guardians need to stop carrying useless players who can not keep up . And you all know the players I am talking about !! The idiot with 1 kill and 17 deaths in a simple strike that kept getting lost and killed by red bars . Or the ( just happened ) idiot friend that was carried through the GOS raid and has the divinity that was killed by the FIRST redbar you encounter in the strike -_-

Haven’t used whisper in a raid since they nerfed it, so not sure why you’re under the impression your buddy “NEEDS” it.

Not one raid requires whisper....

Destiny typically doesn't have any guide for how to play the game. I have to use YouTube to know how it efficiently play the game and what things are available to me to do. Destiny has too much hidden stuff for me to find on my own. I do hear it's tough to figure out what to do as a new light player, but it's just Gambit, crucible, strikes and doing year one stuff. I can't imagine it's really that difficult. Especially when you are helping them find stuff. Whisper of the worm is something you stumble across, your friend must be watching videos to know about wotw.
