Just don't get stupidly close to bosses if you find it so annoying.

Not always an option depending on circumstances, and it doesn't justify how lazy and unengaging it is when 95% or more of bosses share the exact same mechanic.

I really don't see why Bungie should waste time giving bosses new melee attacks, along with new animations, just for something that has almost no purpose. It's not like this stomp mechanic is specific to Destiny either. Ever played Borderlands? That has a good number of bosses that make you go flying. Nobody says Borderlands has bad bosses because of it.

It's purpose is to avoid close ranged combat, but it's a really overused method when there's multiple ways for bosses to outright deny close ranged damage. The melee attacks or animations don't have to be brand new per se, but I'd like boss melee combat to evolve more even if it doesn't involved the current ones. Haven't played Borderlands in a long time so I don't have much info to compare the two.
