• 47 on 49 achievements. Damn the road to captain is long! Took me around 16 hours to beat the campaign on heroic + Legendary. Playing it alone isn't that hard after you look closely at it. The worst parts are when Zealot class or Ultra class elites are bundled up, rushing your DMR spot. I've found a cheap-yet efficient way of surviving the Dr Halsey Lab defense, and I don't know if its known or anything, but those rock sure form a good barrier! Fun timez indeed, gratz Bungie :p

 •
Posted by: ZombiePenguin If you've beaten Mile High Club from CoD 4 on Veteran, you're very familiar with this tactic. Use and abuse it whenever you can.
lolz mile high club was SOOO much different to this! You cant hide through that you have to kill everyone and everything if you even wanted a chance at moving on. But yeah my opinion on the current "Level Cap". Bungie still wants people to play this game when black ops comes out. So im guessing that we wont be expecting it to be lifted until end of october/november

 • Burrito's Solo Legendary Protip #3: The dropshield is your friend. Not only can it protect you for a bit, but unlike Armor Lock (which essentially makes you a target for the inevitable sticky grenade barrage, making it near useless on Solo Legendary), you can also health your HEALTH, with will undoubtedly go down. And believe this if nothing else: You need to do everything you can do to keep your health up at all times. [Edited on 10.09.2010 7:27 PM PDT]

 • Oh yeah and the few tips that helped me the most through the campaign 1 - Abuse checkpoints. Some times getting in a vehicle triggers it. Some times going back to a safe area triggers it. If you find one, abuse it. 2 - Save powerful weapons for powerful enemies 3 - Sneak past enemies. This works the best on Winter Contingency and New Alexandria. On WC, you can literally just stick to the edges of the map and move on in a lot of cases. The Elites won't mind. And in New Alexandria, don't fight the hunters. Just get in, press button, get out, ASAP. Same goes for the drones part, don't even shoot, just run and stay as covered as possible. There's no way in hell you're leaving that room with your shields, but if you do what I did then you'll survive anyway, which is the best outcome of course. On the part around The Package (Forget which mission it was, but it was the one based on Boneyard), don't even get involved in the battle. Use Active Camo if you have it, if not just stick to the edges and they won't even notice you. If you've beaten Mile High Club from CoD 4 on Veteran, you're very familiar with this tactic. Use and abuse it whenever you can.

 • I also share the honor of completing the game on legendary alone. I decided to partake in this challenging task shortly after I have gotten the game because of a tradition that I have with every new halo game, beat it on Legendary First! The fundamental thing that will definitely grant you access to this prestigious club that I am sure a lot of people will mention is just to Take it Slow. Use cover as many times as possible and Live for the checkpoints! As soon as you get to a checkpoint, take a break if you start to get frustrated. Grab some grub, lay down, mainly relax! For me the hardest part of the game was at the beginning when you first encounter the elites with only an assault rifle and a handgun. The last bit of information is very important!! SKIP IT!!! If it gets to tough, don't pull a master chief and keep going in guns blazing eliminating every single covenant foe that crosses your path. Its not possible in the Legendary World! Usually most of the time it may seem that killing everything is the only way out. Its not. If it looks like you can just save that grunt you have in your sights to live another day and still get on with your life, do it! In conclusion, don't be fast and stupid. Be slow and methodical! Take many breaks, and skip it it if a few enemies is all that stands between you and a checkpoint. Do this and this achievement and great honor will be a breeze!

 • The reach game is really good and they got alot of the stupid glitchs out ( thank god ) ,any way the bungie employees should raise the bar of ranking bar sooner (1 Month or 3 weeks) and the Armour lock ability should be on a locked down basic. Example: i am gana get punched and i just go into armour lock and pop out and kill my enemy no problem! 1+ for me but it should just stay down no matter what! it is too unfair and cheap at the same time that a single person can just do that. so this is my how to fix halo reach problem! and i was just wounder out of ceriousity! what the next rank after Lt.? please reply at my gamertag: A I2 C A D E. P.S. its only 1 space between each letter.

 • As someone who also has this achievement, I agree with the following steps. However, I did it in a less elegant more brute force style. For instance, I didn't think to use the noob combo until the very end of the game. I used only human weapons for most of the game using only the plasma launcher and the fuel rod gun whenever available(and before someone says liar, I did experiment using other alien weapons but I couldn't really use them affectively). So for those who have no faith in taking down an Elite Zealot with only a DMR, it can be done because I did it ALOT. Another thing is that your AI companions CAN be useful but in only in a few situations. They can make great distractions, in the first mission there was a part where you had to save three marines. My shields kept on getting destroyed by overcharged plasma shots, I was lucky because when I hid behind a rock or a wall to recharge, the aliens didn't try to rush me because the AIs were shooting at them(granted the marines died but they bought me enough time to pop off a few headshots and kill all of the grunts). For the most part they are useless, so unless you no how to use/sacrifice them, don't place your faith in them(and for those who are asking about the spartans that are with you, lets just say I was completely stupid and somehow managed to destroy all of the vehicles on the map and had to sprint the whole way, by the time they showed up to help the marines were already dead). As for checkpoints your right on the money, I can't tell you how many times checkpoints made my life easier, especially on Tip of the Spear. Also for the armor abilities, I only really used them a few times, for about 75-80% of the game I used sprint. But your advice is very sound and battle proven. Now personally I play with a noobish style of rushing when it comes to campaign, but it is VERY important for EVERYONE to take these missions on legendary difficulty VERY SLOWLY. You are right about it and I cannot stress this enough, so please do yourselves a favor and listen to this guy, he is spot on when it comes to this subject. The last thing I want to comment on is using the right weapon for the job at hand. DON'T be like me and do it the hard way using only human weapons, mix it up and use ALL of the weapons at your disposal. They all have their uses, and before someone says that the spike rifle sucks it works great for dealing with skirmishers if it is too difficult to pull off a headshot. I used mostly the DMR, it is your bread and butter weapon and works for almost every situation but it can be pretty difficult if that is all you use. So please make your run through on legendary easier, a needle rifle takes down brutes, minus the shielded chieftains, no problem. The noob combo, as stated earlier, is perfect to takedown elites. Just remmember to be smart about using alien weapons, because with some of them you only get a few shots before you have to use something else and think of a new strategy. PS: when I say "you" and "this guy" I am referring to Kirbysama's tips. Great job dude. [Edited on 10.09.2010 4:02 PM PDT]

 • I beat the Solo lengendary in two days! Prepare to be frustrated and sometimes you might consider throwing your controller at the wall, but i'm here to give you a few tips: 1. Be patient, pop out of cover only to put a few shots in your enemy and then go back into cover. 2. Never, and I mean never, rush an elite. Jackels, skirmishers, and grunts are all usually one shot to the head, so they are a different story. Also, you can rush brutes as long as you have a suffice amount of needler ammo(they are super effective.) 3. Stick with your AI's, they never die and have unlimited ammo, they can give you much support. Hope this helped you :) P.S. One of 5%!!!!!!!!!!

 • Legendary tips: No1. Take ur time there isn't unlimited enemies so if ur DMR or outher fav weapon runs out of ammo dont worry you can run back as far as u want without worrying about more enemies spawning as there is a set amount at each engagement exept on the level that goes into space at the entrance to the launch site(Note: The unlimited enemies are great for campaign challenges). Where as if you try go in against a load of elites with no more than an assault rifle you stand no chance and then the enemies will re-spawn. No2. RUN! if u can get around a group of enemies without an engagement then just go past them i know this is a great tactic on winter contingency where u first meet the elites, hang right and sprint... it never fails and saves a lot of time and effort. No3. Use ur AI team m8's as they always have unlimited ammo so why not try leaving one rocket in ur rocket launcher or fuel rod gun and then handing it to a friendly ODST or marine you'l be surprised how much damage they can do when i did it all i had to do was follow the ODSTs and sometimes lead them as they obliterated grunts, jackals, skirmishers and even brutes. No4. Hang back as much as possible if ur gun has a scope, use it to kill the enemy before they even fire at you. So snipe with snipers, DMRs, Pistols, Needle Rifles ect. No5. Use 2 ability's. no not by hacks or mods simply stand on something eg. a hologram use it as a diversion then sprint around the covenant as they shoot it its a great little trick that is best used on the sniping mission. No6. Don't get stressed... have fun and try another day if u fail because getting angry just ends up in a bill for a new controller... PLZ put at-least one of my tips in ur book even if it is re-written. Enjoy and good luck out there... Go deliver hope guys [Edited on 10.09.2010 3:42 PM PDT]

 • Ahh yes i love stats espesially when i find out that im in a small group by comparasion. I recieved the last achievement in Reach yesterday :) heres hopeing for more with DLC...i hope i hope. Legendary solo: Be patient use cover alot if you find yourself stuck in a spot, which i know i did alot, try back tracking sometimes you will find a much needed health pack and or ammo for the Dmr that is needed or grenades, just make sure when used that you make them count. If all else fails run and hide like a scared little spartan.

 • My Legendary Tip: Plasma Pistol. Plasma Pistol. Plasma Pistol. I pushed through much of the game without this mantra, and I was foolish not to consider this "old school" trick from past Halo games. Those pesky Ultras and Zealots whittle to simple ones-shots after a well placed overcharge. And with the new locking reticle (the three red arrows that appear in the middle of your normal three reticles) you know you'll have a clean shot on that juking mother-blammer!

 •
Posted by: Crysis Hero Surprising that less than 1% is patiently sitting at the level cap. I've been capped for almost a week and it hasn't slowed me down. Thank you Bungie for letting us continue to earn credits toward future ranks. I hope I'm not the only person who finds it ridiculous that some of the same people previously complaining about their inability to rank while capped are now complaining that they will be ranking too much when the cap lifts. Seriously?!
Agreed. Ironically, many people who complain about the level cap were complaining about the boosters in MW2.

 • "Are you part of the 5% of players who shares this honor with me? If so, how'd it go for you? If you have tips and tricks to share please sound off and maybe it will make its way into my future helpful Legendary guide. " As someone that has beaten the campaign on solo Legendary, here's some quick tips: 1) Overcharge + Headshot - aka the noob combo that has been effective in every single Halo game. This is an overcharge shot from the plasma pistol followed by a headshot, typically with a DMR or needle rifle, but any headshot weapon works, like say a pistol. This is primarily used on Elites, but the occasional Brute has a shield you can rip through with this, but it usually requires you to make 3+ headshots to remove their helmet and then kill them, so watch it on those chieftans and other ranked up brutes. 2) Take it slow - Seriously, you aren't going to win any battles going crazy gung-ho super soldier like you did on normal or even heroic. Grunts can kill you if you dont act quick enough. 3) Never Let the AI do ANYTHING - AI teammates with you? Do not let them do anything. They cannot drive, they cannot shoot guns, they cannot help with objectives. Do not rely on them. NEVER let them drive a vehicle for you. Ever. This is paramount to surviving. You cannot win if the retarded AI keeps driving into mortars or stops in front of elites shootin gyour face. 4) Use Scoring MOde - Turn on the scoring option for each level. I also throw on the grunt birthday skull for laughs, but the scoring is all that really matters. This does not negate your achievements and is not cheating or anything that woudl disqualify conditions for the achievement. What it does do though is let you know when you kill something. Not sure if that Elite died to the grenade you threw when it ducked behind cover to recharge its shields? Well scoring pops up a +100 or whatever value and lets you know it died. No score popped up? That elite is still alive. A great example of whent his is useful is on the package level in the tank. There are many turrets near the end before the ONI base. They are far off in the distance and difficult to see until the homing mortars are already locked on and in the air towards your tank. Firing blind into the distance and hoping it is destroyed is fine, but you are never sure they are dead without the scoring mode enabled and the +xx score modifier showing up. Use scoring. It's quite helpful for confirming kills. 5) Don't Forget the First Cutscene - You might be tempted to just load up individual levels and play them. Don't forget to do the intro cutscene to the game on Legendary. 6) Watch for Hunters - Hunters are not really that tough in this game. Grunts with fuel rod cannons are much more likely to kill you or anyone with a concussion gun. However, on Legendary, you cant just run up and bash the hell out of hunters. You can still bash them, but you need to be careful of their back attack. They quickly turn and melee anything behind them and it's a 1 hit death for you if it connects. It's usually better to just aim for joints from a distance from my experience than to risk constant reloads. 7) Abuse Checkpoints - You can usually trigger checkpoints by walking back to safe sections. On the last level with the elites and engineer, you can kill an elite, run outside and get a checkpoint before continuing on to kill the rest. Repeat as necessary to avoid having to kill the entire room over and over. This is useful at all times when you run into tight situations. Not all work as easily as the above example though, but very rare not to be able to get a checkpoint this way. 8) Go back for ammo/use other guns - Dont waste DMR ammo on every single enemy when a tough section is ahead. Drop the gun, pick up a needler or assault rifle and kill those grunts or jackals. Empty the clip and pick up your DMR again. Also, know where weapon racks/ammo racks are. Go back and get it even when its far away. Entering a room full of elites and grunts with 75 DMR bullets vs 23 bullets is a huge advantage. Same with sniper ammo. On Oni Sword Base (second level), you can get sniper rifles in both sections for comm and anti air guns. Theres also ammo for it above the section with the hunters. Instead of wasting ammo on grunts, save it for the hunters and you can kill them with ease with neck shots between the armour. On the pillar of autumn, after the room with the hunters, you can find a DMR ammo cache beyond the chain fence area before you go up on the scaffolding. Refill before moving on to the next section. Always swap out your plasma pistol for a fresh one from grunts/jackals/skirmishers. 9)Kill at Range. Always - In the tank? Kill anti-aircraft guns from range with it. In a warthog on tip of the spear? Use the rockets to kill the anti aircraft guns (kick the AI out of the warthog and drive away before it gets in again, get off and man the gun. AI might run up to you, so just repeat until the AA gun is destroyed). Kill grunts/skirmishers/jackals at long range with precision headshots. I use needle rifle whenver i can for these long range kills and save dmr for tough sections with elites, but thats preference. needle rifle eats brutes at range though (3 shots = dead brute from explosion whereas you need 3 headshots from dmr to guarantee kill). 10) Abuse Holograms - It is easily the best armour ability in campaign. Nothing tops it. Nothing. Fuel rod cannon users reveal their position for quick headshot as they unload on the hologram. Elites will run up and bash it and you can then assassinate or overcharge/headshot them. You can scout areas for enemies. On the sniping mission, you can find the elite that is cloaked (may not always show up, not sure if it was a random upgrade or not) and then headshot him. You can make those annoying concussion users blow their ammo on nothing and that split second they are reloading means you get to kill them unmolested. The entire last section in pillar of autumn becomes a complete joke as you can assassinate half the elites and overcharge the rest as they one by one try to kill holograms. Tough sectiosn with skirmishers/jackals spamming overcharges and needles become easy as you headshot them one by one as they target the hologram (the package level in particular). AI is dumb in this. It looks smart and is crazy good at times, but they fall for very simple tricks with holograms that make them eat the noob combo or assassinations. Abuse it at will. • 1)yay im in the 10% of ranks. Major 2) It ttook me about 10 to 15 hours in all, 90 mins per level if you want to say. and my tips are. Use a plasma pistol to shoot elites then a Dmr or magnum. Brutes it's diff. they don't have the same type of shield as elites, there just pure diesle and a bullet to the head doesnt help as much as loading them up with needles. everything else, just kill with the DMR. 3) Follow these steps and legendary is easy, pick up holograms and cloaks when you can. and you could go through any level without dieing. i havent but i believe i can lol TOP 5% woooooooooooooo 4)Forgot the hardest to kill. The Hunter(Their so cool). All i do is run up behind them and gun but the hell out of them until that armor breaks of, thats when a plasma grenade or shotgun comes in hand.
