-Too busy listening to their crappy EDM to listen to the Drifter.
-They think they can throw the motes to the bank, can't figure out how.
-Too lazy to run back to the bank.
-"Y'know, it says I'm carrying the max amount of motes, but if I just run over a few more, I'm sure I'll be able to pick them up!"
Joking aside, I think some players just don't understand or care about game mechanics other than shooting space-aliens in the face. Not banking motes in Gambit, not taking control points in Control, not closing shadow rifts in Escalation Protocol...
Shooting space-aliens in the face is of course a fine and noble undertaking, but Destiny has a few added bells and whistles that I really, really wish more players would take the time to understand.
Thank you for coming to my KenTalk

6 motes to go, and everyones trying to get kills. Just get the damn motes back to the bank. It happens often. If Drifter say's bank, then bank.

1 ReplyGambit is a subtle game that is VERY unforgiving of mental mistakes. The game going FTP (where Gambit is concerned) has expanded the pool of players that are unfamiliar with the strategy, and don't have the game sense to understand when you need to bank motes....and when its dangerous to be running around with unbanked motes. The other problem is that Gambit bounties are one of the few ways to earn bright dust (IIRC) so you probably have people in there running THOSE bounties, and not really caring abou the outcome of the game.
think some players just don't understand or care about game mechanics other than shooting space-aliens in the face. Not banking motes in Gambit, not taking control points in Control, not closing shadow rifts in Escalation Protocol...
The first two are just selfish players. The other one is more complicated. Escalation protocol has become a very convenient FARM for when you need to either kill lots of trash mobs, lots of Hive, or lots of majors (orange and yellow bars) in a short period of time. So you will get lots of people triggering EP looking to farm the NPCs that spawn in order to complete bounties, quests, or activate exotic catalysts.....and FAILING actually speeds up that process for them. ...and since not many people are actually playing EP to completion these days, its hard to really get mad at them about it.

25 RepliesEdited by mdknyte: 10/16/2019 10:56:24 AMThere's only one strategy in gambit. one. that's it. it's extremely annoying that bungie hasn't done something to stop this strategy. it's completely ruined Gambit/Gambit Prime. 1) all 4 teammates run around and gather 15 motes. hold on to them. 2) wait till the other team summons a primeval. 3) now all 4 teammates bank their 15 motes each. 4) now the other team has to deal with 1 primeval, 2 envoys, a ton of taken adds, 4 angry giant blockers with unlimited range and tracking fire breathing attack that are surrounding the primeval, and non-stop invaders from that point on, as well as medium blockers constantly being sent that throw those taken bubble things around because the other team is still banking now to get their primeval up. 5) once they summon it, the other team that waited to bank has a free ride to finish off their primeval because the first team that summoned theirs can't send blockers. that's why they're holding on to them. the problem is that both sides know the one and only gambit strategy so you get two teams holding motes. it's a horrible experience. i absolutely HATE gambit now.

If you are playing solo, random people can have their agenda. Dude might be going for a reaper medal and not caring if they win or lose. By playing solo, you are putting yourself at a disadvantage, no communication, unknown skill level, you dont know if your team is trying to win, your team mates might be working on quests and not trying to win. When i want to win, i play in a team. You can communicate, work as a team, everyone wants to win, everyone has good supers and weapons and People are skilled. Playing solo, you need lots of patience to deal with bad team mates and matchmaking issues. You also need decent skill to carry bad team mates or win 3v4. If you dont have both of those qualities, then maybe solo queue to win may not be right for you.

Sorry... I'm that guy not capping anything in control matches. But I'll get you 20 kills! Gambit, if you don't have a guy with you that knows to bank at 10, then expect to lose. Gambit is essentially "if three guys bank 10 motes each, at the same time, that team wins." But mostly don't bank at all.

I be doing the bounties
-
Drifter: "Get to the bank and summon a Primeval!" Randoms, with 14 motes, 150 meters away from the next enemy wave: "Yeah lemme get this last one real quick tho"
-Too busy listening to their crappy EDM

*blasts Numa Numai Iei*
Bank them?? I thought you did more dps the more you had!!!

Edited by Cayde's Side Chick (Adept): 10/17/2019 2:55:41 PMHate that. Say we need 2 motes, Drifter won't shut up about banking to get our primeval, yet TitsMcGee is still running around with 7 motes while everyone else is mid by the bank just.. waiting. 🤦♀️ I get it, you can still give the opposing team a medium/large blocker, but WHO GIVES A SHIT, BANK.
-
Players sometimes get tunnel vision. Last night I was in a game. Had 7 motes. Heard drifter say you have enough to pull a primeval. Looked up and sure enough we were at 70 motes. What sucks is that I had just ran past the bank, because I thought I only had 3 motes. Where in the hell did those other 4 come from...
-
I think a lot of people just lack awareness and can't multitask. By this I mean they just focus on one enemy and then the next. They don't constantly look at what's going on as a whole
-
i told them all i would give them a cookie for banking 21.
-
9 RepliesI don't understand while people aren't standing in the buff pool in gambit, my last few matches, people all over the arena when primeval shield is down.
-
I have less problems with the players not banking and more with those that run over you to get their small blocker while you're sitting at 13 or 18. Or how about when you have a large blocker to bank and the other team invades and your teammates with nothing to bank either run and hide or ignore the invader and go after adds.
-
1 ReplyOr they're trying to grind out Exit Strategy.
-
1 ReplyNothing drives me more nuts, then when the Drifter tells your team that you have enough motes to summon a primeval and yet you have that one blueberry still running around with 13 motes killing enemies. Who then dies, making you and your team have to go pick up more motes to get to the primeval phase. Needless to say now that i got Malfeasance, I am not touching Gambit for a while.

6 RepliesThere's a very simple reason, you see it every day in real life too. Especially when you're in the business of fixing things.
Most people are incredibly stupid.
4 Repliesi lost my ps membership a while ago but i remember when i used to play gambit and the first chance i got i would bank my motes however little they are while other guardians just jumped around like imbeciles
-
Thats the only reason I don’t play gambit more often, I only play it for the powerful rewards and get the f out once im done. Plus gambit is super sweaty 🥵
-
I LOVE gambit, but this needs to stop.
-
We're entering another recession after a Golden Age, the banks are unstable, so why should I trust them with my hard earned motes?
-
Not much difference between that and choosing not to turn a public event heroic. There is an objective but going to do whatever they feel like doing instead.
-
they are lazy bums
-
Because gambit is rubbish and they are just farming Trust and Bygones
-
4 RepliesPfft! Who actually goes to the bank anymore? It's all online now, Gambit is behind the times...
