I'm really curious if Bungie actually play tested this final boss. You must have everyone doing their jobs perfectly, have perfect communication and compared to the rest of the raid they turn up the difficulty x100 it seems. The floor kills you, the boss kills you, cyclops kills you instantly, this is probably the hardest raid encounter I've ever encountered in my years of playing D2. Calus, EOW, Spire, Riven, Scourge, Galhran.
Even Riven none of the encounters were ever this hard
Not even doing Riven legitimately is this hard, you wanna know why?
Because there is somewhere you can go to on the arena to recuperate and heal but there is nowhere to hide on this encounter. How does everyone else feel about this encounter? Is it to hard, am I being whiny, what tips do you have if you think I am? I have tried for 2 days straight and have completed the raid only once with multiple different LFG teams.

The dps phase is SO SHORT. Motes falling off the map is annoying, and you REALLY have to be fast at all times to keep from being overrun by sacrificing goblins. It reminds me of some of the mechanics-heavy encounters in kings fall. The fight isn't that bad if everyone plays their role and you don't get stuck in the tether so often.

I hate hate haaaate this boss. Bungie still have a lot to learn!! It SUCKS!!!
-
100% agreed. It is absolute unforgiving TRASH. NERF THIS ENCOUNTER!!!

1 ReplyI'll tell you want this boss really sucks. The framerate. Must be a console only thing but good God. The framerate on this boss fight is absolutely bonkers. There were times when I felt my game was literally gonna seize up and crash my system.

My only complaint is that I think it was only play-tested on pc or an improved console because on a regular PS4 that becomes nearly unplayable the longer it goes on.

Edited by Zer0Warri0r: 10/11/2019 2:46:07 PMThis could be due to many reasons. poor implementations of strats for the boss like doing 1 on each side my team had an ordeal trying to do it that way. The best strat rn for the boss is to have a build team and two portal teams. team 1 goes in on blue and team 2 clears adds and build team as the name suggests builds. team two will pull team 1 back while also running into the same color portal to my knowledge once you complete a tower sacrifices no longer decrease moted banked as long as it doesnt explode youre good. do the same for the other color and than 1 person and build team will do both tethers while the other half the team does dps the whole time. This strat has made a team who spent 2 hours at least per kill to a 2 run average on kill. Another reason you might be having trouble is that you or someone on your teams isnt past the power delta to do the right amount of damage. if youre having that much trouble just make sure everyone on your team is 936+. Deltas are on the 1s and 6s on light lvl for damage and every light lvl increase your resistance to the enemies up to 10 over I believe. Make sure all players are using 'meta weapons' if anyone is using a scout rifle or an smg that isnt recluse or god forbid a sidearm call them an idiot and tell them to swap. you can use weapons you like in every other activity, but you gotta bring your A game to a raid if its only been out a few days to a week. Edit: its only been out a short time as time goes on everyone should get better at executing roles for the boss I do agree on the difficulty spike from the rest of the raid. My teams first attempt after contest was a steam roll on all previous encounters and was a 2 or 3 hour endeavor which was longer than the rest of the entire raid.

I haven't done it, but based on my hindsight I usually think every raid boss is the hardest until I have a half-dozen completions under my belt. Maybe it's level, or just the learning curve. I've been through the same pains, so many people want to jump in before they should at 920 and by the boss fight they get to hit by common mobs. I see recommended 950, I'm not touching it until 950 both for my own sanity and out of respect for the other people I'm grouping with.

It’s a good thing that it’s hard. It’s been a good while.

i do prefer D1 raids where we stuck as a team in one room (templar, atheon, aksis) and if half the team was good they could carry lesser experienced players.

In all fairness, whenever I've LFG'd and we get to part with a crucial mechanic, I always ask who is taking it just to enjoy the tumbleweed.
-
Hang in there, keep at it. Level up some more and you’ll find your rhythm. It’s all about the light level. You’ll wonder why you ever thought it was this tough.
-
Try it again when you are 950+ and let us know. Being under leveled and going lfg is the perfect recipe for frustration and disappointment.
-
Frame rate tanks significantly during the fight. That's it. Otherwise, the fight is all about coordination.
-
Framerate drops too low for this fight on console. Makes it unplayable.

Compare that with the final boss of crown , where really only 1 person on each side need to know whats going on. One time I was tired and playing like crap , had to run for my life from thrall , nobody even noticed, we still one phased with ease and I got the worst raid exotic in the game. -
Was on it 7 hours last night with divinity active, we just couldn’t do it, it’s impossible, pretty much the tiniest error by anyone you might as we wipe. All the glimmer dropping makes tour frame rare drop to 5fps which also makes it unplayable

1 ReplyWell seeing how getting leveled to 950 will take a long time, probably after another raid is out. I will not be able to play the raid, because people will be on the next raid. I am only 925. Then there is the point that I get tired of doing the chores that Bungie has enlisted to do one bounty or multiple bounties to get one descent upgrade. Then there is the time I have to use in real life. I will just watch people raid on youtube. Of course I am probably not missing much. If I had to give an opinion based on what I have seen. If a cyclops can kill you instantly, that is too OP. Of course there are places where you can stand on. I saw in one video that 3 people took on the raid and did not need the floor. They stood on the other areas. Then when it came to the boss firing at them, they just jumped dodged the shots. Of course they probably had a hire Power Level weapons. Still they did great for a 3 team members in a raid that should use 6 team members. I think the raid is not that bad, as long as you are within the power level, which is 950 or higher. It is not easy, because you need 6 people with 950 or higher.
