How to make vex invasion heroic
I found a method to summon overlord without fail in my experience and that was to kill every hydra before minotaur boss. There is a ton of opinions on how this is done but this method worked for us. Either way they not that uncommon.

4 waves 3 Gatelords then 1 overlord. As far as I have noticed it is a knockout. Fail one stage and that's it. Every Invasion I've been in it has been the same. Kill a Gatelord then leg it to the next visible lightning storm. Overlord has been 4th. No shenanigans.

1 ReplyThis has been proven incorrect already as well. My theory currently is making the public event heroic prior to the vex invasion as well as perhaps killing all the Hydras. I honestly am not sure anyone has 100% figured it out yet lol

1 ReplyEach week it’s in a new area. It’s not a trick or a secret. You just have to do the event in the right location. This week it’s anchor of light where it can be spawned. 👍🏻

I can never get the Overlord spawn in Archer's Line. I've never had it *not* spawn in the other areas. I don't know what I'm doing differently. The "Vex are leaving" message popped up in those other areas too, but the Overlord still spawned.

2 RepliesYep. Until you get 2 Randumbs who can't take a hint when you're killing adds and not shooting the boss, so they smoke the last Gate Lord, and you have to start the whole process over again.

My original addition: My fireteam gets the Overlord every time we kill the first two Hydras of each of the three Minotaurs before finishing off the Minotaur AND take down all three Minotaurs “fast enough”. We haven’t yet nailed down the hit/miss threshold because none of us are counting seconds while under so much fire. Too slow, no Overlord. Miss one of the six Hydras, no Overlord.

1 ReplyEdited by teamz: 10/10/2019 12:42:58 AMAlso everyone, make sure you run anti barrier rounds mod and shoot right through the hydra shields. Makes the battles so much more efficient. The arc auto rifle from essence is really good. I got overflow perk on mine and can run 82 in the mag.

1 ReplyNot true. Please edit your post if your pretending to try and help people. I killed like 10 overlords Monday night and not one time did we kill 5 hydras before killing a Minotaur, let alone for all 3 Minotaurs.

Not accurate. Have personally done it with only killing for two hydras from each gate lord. I think it’s actually bugged or random because it doesn’t always work.

The things you learn.. Honestly I might have had a couple that didn't go heroic and I had assumed it was a time issue. I tend focus on the Hydras as soon as the spawn because I have a strong hatred for this enemy that goes back to the days of the Undying Mind strike.. Besides - it just feels so good to be able to finally shoot through their shields with anti-barrier rounds. Anyhow - thanks for passing this along.

I've only had one invasion where the Overlord [i]didn't[/i] spawn. I didn't even realize that it was a special thing. 🤷
