Firstly, let me just say that I understand that developers need to make money.
However, since cross save has been enabled we are being forced to buy DLC’s twice! Didn’t Bungie split from activision because they were too money hungry? So why now is Bungie trying to force us to buy two sets of DLC’s? Bungie is making the usual money from its DLC’s as I’m sure no one will want to buy two sets of DLC’s.
I believe it is only fair that if you buy DLC on one platform you should not have to buy it on another what utter ridiculous rubbish.
So please enable the DLC I have purchased to be utilised on another platform. Otherwise, what this cross save function is just another money grab or just superfluous.

Because there are fees associated with the licensing on the platforms. For example, Steam charges upto 30% of the sale price as their cut, Microsoft, Sony, and Google have their own, most likely similar fees. So it would cost 120% of the sale price of the expansion to have a universal buy once play everywhere license. Another way to look at it would be, buying a movie on dvd allows you to play that dvd format, if you want it in the bluray format you would need to buy it on bluray. Buying Call of Duty on PS4 does not give you a free copy on Xbox

3 RepliesYou are not purchasing the same DLC license more than once for using Cross-Save. When you purchase a license on Xbox, you are purchasing the Microsoft Xbox License. When you purchase the license on Playstation, you're purchasing the Sony Playstation License. Steam... yep, the Valve Steam License. Stadia is the Google Stadia License. Just because you consider it the same thing doesn't make it the same thing. Unfortunately, in this day and age, companies like to make money. This includes Microsoft, Sony, Valve, and Google. When you gain a license for Xbox, Microsoft gets a cut of that money. Microsoft makes money from you buying a DLC for Xbox; Microsoft owns the Microsoft Xbox Store licenses and system, not Bungie. Bungie makes some money on the sale, yes, but so does Microsoft. Neither one gets the full amount of what you paid, both get a cut, meaning only part of it goes to Microsoft and the other part goes to Bungie. The same goes for the other companies. Sony gets it for Playstation; Valve gets it for Steam sales (that percentage is known, Valve gets about 30% of every Steam sale), and Google will get get a cut of any sales for Stadia. Since those companies own their own licenses, and since companies like money, those companies will not pay another company in order to grant you a free license. Microsoft will not pay Valve to give you a Steam license for a game or DLC just because you own it on Microsoft. To use a good example since we mostly know the percentages... Steam makes 30% of a license sale. Shadowkeep is 34.99 USD on Steam. That means every sale of Shadowkeep on Steam, Steam makes 10.50 USD. However, to do what you're asking, if you bought a license on Steam, and then went to Xbox, Valve would have to pay Microsoft the full 34.99 USD to grant you that license. Unless my math is wrong, I'm pretty sure 10.50-34.99 is less than 0, which means Valve would lose money, not make it. Valve will not do that. So, if you want to have completely cross-platform sharable licenses, your best bet would be to start contacting the big gaming platforms and asking them to play nicely together and start giving each other stuff for free instead of charging. Just remember when doing so, those companies have to make money, pay their employees, and turn a profit for shareholders otherwise those companies disappear.

2 RepliesBungie doesn’t enforce this btw. If you want to throw blame around you should be targeting the platforms. Sony/Xbox/PC have never comingled on this idea except in very few instances. Because Bungie was not able to get any exclusivities with all 3 platforms nothing was able to be transferred. Also transferring licenses would be assumed as you having a decent amount of money to do so as you would be going from one platform to the next that’s even assuming you own a pc or console in the first place.

No my point is I shouldn’t have to start again. If Bungie wants to release a cross save function/idea then making us rebuy DLC then it is either a money grab or they have done a terrible job doing so.

Would you rather buy the whole game again and start from 0?

I'm having the same problem, I purchased Forsaken and the Annual pass on PC enabled cross save so I can play on PS4 with my friends, bought the digital deluxe edition of the game and now I'm missing the Forsaken DLC, I can't do any Forsaken activities... I've made a thread myself but I think it's been removed as I cannot find it now.... I'm not paying another £30 for DLC I already bought..
