Let me start off by saying this: I have been in the Destiny franchise since the beta of Destiny 1. I've wanted to kill Rahool for turning my exotic engram into a blue pulse rifle. I've grabbed all three elemental Psion cloaks and barely wore them. I destroyed everyone in PvP in the beta of Destiny 1 on the Venus map(I say beta cause PvP gives me depression now(I can say that cause I've fought it and still do so back off)). I've completed every Destiny 1 raid multiple times. I recieved Gjallarhorn on the day PoE was released in the House of Wolves DLC. I have been sniped by a shotgun from across the map. I've done many things. I'm a Guardian. This DLC was fairly enjoyable. I loved the initial suspense of the DLC. It wasn't crazy suspenseful but it wasn't absolutely obvious either. That moment when you turned that corner on the first mission and BOOM pyramid from the initial campaigns ending scene. And it's been there all along. Watching us. Now, I never really watched the trailers for Shadowkeep, just the initial one so I never expected the pyramid. Even though the story was short, I still enjoyed it. I'll be honest. That's just about it. It's been a week since Shadowkeep released and all I can say is that it was an exciting few days. But that's the issue. It was a few days. It took me half a day (release day) to finish the whole campaign and the rest of the time I spent doing quests and leveling up my power. However, after that, everything just became a chore. The Vex Offensive was fun. The first time, but after that it was boring. Each "section" consisted of the same thing. Activate the plate. Kill the Vex. Destroy the oracles. Grab loot. Run to next area. Activate Plate. Kill the Vex. Destroy the Oracles. Grab loot. There are only 3 sections with the 3rd being the boss fight. The first 2 sections are exactly the same just a few more enemies and a different looking layout. The boss fight isn't much better. Activate plate. Kill vex. Use what you used to destroy the oracles to lower the bosses shield and shoot the boss. If you didn't destroy him that time go to the next plate and do the same thing. Over and over until you kill the Vex Gate Lord. Once you kill the thing go grab your loot. Speaking of loot, the loot only consists of 4 different weapons. A Scout rifle, Solar Pulse Rifle, Arc Sub-machine Gun, and Void Hand Cannon. Even after the weekly reset the following week (the week this was written) the guns are the same. The only thing that changed was the fact that you can redo your weeklies. The game is just boring after you do the initial content. Not to even mention the grind. My highest light level is currently a 926 Titan (I'm gonna use him to boost my Hunter hehe). Everything that drops for my titan is below 920, even though it says "Powerful Gear". In order for me to get an increase in light level from these "Powerful Gear" tier 1 and tier 2 rewards I have to farm these weeklies on all 3 of my characters just to increase the light lvl of my Titan by 1 or 2 light. So every week I go up 1 light level at this point. I'm probably just unlucky with my drops since people did the raid Day 1. If that's the case, just ignore that part about the grind. Don't get me wrong everyone. I will still play this game. Those people who say they are done, will eventually come back to play this game. That's just how it is. However, a "live service" game provides a service. Currently for me, this game provides an extra chore. I'm tired of running Vex Offensive 30 times a day (exaggerated number of course). I miss the days of Destiny 1. The Taken King dropped. The Dreadnought was there to be explored, there was so much to do. World Peace existed and the broom Exo finally cleaned up that corner. I miss grimoire except for the fact I had to leave my game to read it. The locations in Destiny 2 aren't alive. They just...exist. Even more so with the moon since no one is there. I find that really sad with all the lore that Destiny has. Thanks for reading this list if you got this far. I hope all of you have a fantastic day. and don't forget that all classes should be equally important in some way or another. Tired of seeing hunters all the time. You're non-toxic friendly Hunter main.

  • This is a really neat perspective, I’ve found shadowkeep has been slow for me? I’m still grinding at the story which I like but I get why people wouldn’t and honestly I’m just impressed people have finished with it so soon

With all due respect, more D1 toxic nostalgia. D1 Beta player here. Shadowkeep beats Rise of Iron so hard, that Saladin's skull is about to cave in....and I say this as someone who really enjoyed ROI, and loved Wrath of the Machine. But this notion of how "wonderful" D1 was needs to stop. By Y3, Destiny 1 had finally just gotten to the point where it was an ACCEPTABLE rpg....and a hopeful springboard to what the community hoped would be a much improved Destiny 2. But vanilla D2 was a massive disappointment....and people are still punishing this game for that disappointment. By remember D1 as being better than it actually was....and insisting that Y3 Destiny 2 is worse than it is. The only advantage that Y3 D1 has on the current game is that the loot pool was deeper....because the weapon PERK pool was deeper. In a game that was designed for PVE....and happened to have PVP. Destiny 2 is still trying to recover from what Jon Weisznewski did to it in stripping down the entire game----especially the sandbox----and designing it around the PVP need for balance.....and leaving little room for the power-progression you need in PVE. Armor 2.0 has fixed that problem on the armor side....despite the adjustment pains some people are having. My Warlock already has a Tier 9 discipline build....that is synergizing with disruption grenades and a hand cannon with Demolitionist. So I have my grenades up almost continuously. Allowing me to play in a skill-based way that Destiny 1 never allowed. Skill builds have come to Destiny....and you are no longer required to play this game as a simple shooter. But content-wise, Shadowkeep beats Rise of Iron in both quality AND quantity. People forget that what we have played so far is just the BEGININING of what Bungie plans to give us. Where as with Rise of Iron, what we'd played up to this point...WAS ALL THERE WAS...and all there WOULD BE until the Spring when Bungie gave us Moments of Triumphy. Which---people forget----was simply the reskinning of D1s raids....and updating their loot pools. If you didn't raid, MoT had nothing to offer. While D2 Seasonal content has a little bit of somethign for everyone.

So... I'm also a D1 vet. 1800+ hours into d1 on xbox 360/1. I was disheartened with the nerf of TLW and Thorn after year one, yet i still played, i adjusted, I went through the vault of glass after the "story campaign" of D1 vanilla. I jumped into the Hellmouth. I cheesed Crota. Everything over and over, i made friends, i visited these friends in real life, i got a hunter tattoo. Cue the drop of destiny 2. I couldnt wait any longer, i had to play it, i had to see what it was all about. It released broken and i was so disgusted i got a refund. I know they worked hard on the game, i know they put their hearts into it and were trying many new things, it just didnt work right away, i was ready to move on and live with my memories of me and my clan mates in D1 form. Over two years pass, month after month i hear about all the changes, the expansions, the story, the guns, TLW is back, etc. So i begrudgingly grab the entire game for $40 on sale. I'm in love again, the story is rich, long, exciting. Crucible is a shell of what it was year one but i understand why, it just isnt the type of pvp i hope for, but others enjoy. Without playing any raids i put several hundred hours into D2 this past summer with just a couple friends (on pc now) and don't regret it one bit. Then Shadowkeep drops. Wow its beautiful, the pyramid, eris is back, New light, Armor 2.0, so much to look forward to. 14 hours into shadowkeep I've finished what i would consider the bulk of the new "season". I reach roughly 920 light on my hunter, do the incursions, the hunts, no raid as my clan is doing it on xbox. I don't touch pvp, Its not fun for me personally, and thats ok, no hard feelings. The pvp maps are all just revamped D1 maps, a ps4 exclusive i havent seen and one new map. The tower is the same, eververse is still awful, bounty givers are scattered still, their rewards are nerfed. Gambit used to be fun bun once i became dredgen I swore off gambit. New guns? naw just a few. New patrol/mission zone? naw just the moon. New strikes? naw just hunts and the incursion which again is reskinning old foes for the hunts, and a mini repetitive strike for the incursions. No new villians, no new sidekicks or story characters. I found myself desperately bored for something else to do. Yet i shut down destiny, turn back on Borderlands 3/Apex legends/csgo, and wait for outerworlds, cyberpunk, anything else with a morsel of a soul. I know bungie worked hard on this, they put their hearts into this, but its a dead flop on arrival. Time gating content to make the game relevant for a longer period of time isn't what D1 veterans or anyone should pay for. We make our own legend right? naw now we wait for more mini releases to happen while grinding the same strikes, one new raid, and some old pvp maps with the same guns weve had. The difference between me and OP is i won't play this, not because its 60 bucks, because ill happily pay more than 60 bucks for the type of game destiny used to be for the last 5 years. There have been ups and downs i get that but this is not the path, there is nothin here to be happy about after the first ~10 to 20 hours. It took me two days to decide, but again i've decided to refund my purchase. The memories of what once was will always be better than what we have now. If you like Shadowkeep more power to you, its not for me and a bunch of other players, many d1 vets are feeling abandoned with this pay for cosmetic charade and lack of new content, and no, almost nothing in shadowkeep is new bar the story missions. We need a new enemy, a spark, something besides the vex, cabal, fallen, hive. We've been fighting the same baddies for 5+ years now and reskins don't count. It feels like a lack of effort all around by bungie. Maybe in another year or two a friend will convince me to look into the game again and snag it at a discount where i can binge as much of the content as i want. All in all i didnt feel legend, i have no interest with this drawn out season model. I feel as if i have to follow bungies script and release date to enjoy the content, if its going the way of MMO active world, we need to see other players, be able to do NEW content and achieve what we always have in the past. So for now its goodbye to Destiny, with a shred of hope left that it will become what I think we all want it to be.

        • Honestly in my opinion D1 will be the better destiny mainly because you have more options for customization of your subclass and all the good gear isn't too hard to get and isn't overly underpowered or overpowered *cough cough* Liar's handshake and spike grenade launchers

D1 Day 1 here...i don’t have shadowkeep but did buy the season pass. I’m loving it, and it’s got me right back into Destiny after at least 1-2 months hiatus. Loads to do, set my sights on the undying seal, and can’t wait for the exotic bow quest. The new vex offensive is great, and self infusing armor from that activity avoids infusion modules. The 100 levels of grind also is something I really like. The artefact is really cool and I enjoy grinding to rank that up. I love the new freelance glory, but that mythic 2 to mythic 3 is horrible and I feel I will forever remain at mythic 2.

          • My singular beef I have on shadowkeep as of this moment is with the Phantasmal Fragment/Phantasmal Core. I love grinding out loot, I love going for rolls, I'd like to say most of us do. So why, why in Rahool's fresh fuzzy cheeks can I only hold 3 Phantasmal Cores in a stack? This is kiliing my grind. I mean sure, 25 Phantasmal Fragments I can deal with that. I'll just hit up the Lectern and exchange fragments until I have a ton of cores, right? Nope. This is so tedious and I haven't gotten the roll I want on a single weapon yet.

For someone who just picked up D2/Shadowkeep and is playing for the first time, they must think this game is the bomb! All the places to go, stuff to do, etc. For those of us who have been playing it for 2+ years, the SK expansion was as you described. Fun for a few days, then MONTHS of grinding. Plus, all work you do to open/customize your Gatelord's Eye will disappear at the end of the season to be done all over again. Any seasonal mods you apply to your weapons/armor from that will disappear. Your 10 point (max) power boost will evaporate. You will have to re-grind both 100 level of seasonal "stuff" and your seasonal artifact all over again next season, but with much less new content. There were be a new event, sure, but no new story or locations. I think I'm just getting burned out.

            • What was it for you that made you feel like locations in D1 were alive, Vs the 'empty' D2 locations? D2 has done a great job of making the locations places you want to go to with unique world activities like Vex Invasions, Blind Well, Escalation Protocol, etc in addition to adding adventures and lost sectors on top of the old system. The plaguelands and the dreadnaught were cool, because they offered something to do other than boring fetch quests and sparse enemies. What was there to do in most of the locations in D1? Patrols? Resource gathering? Finding region chests? All of these can be done in D2, but D2 has a much more consistent track record of making you actually want to go somewhere because of the unique things you can do there. Also, what do you mean 'there was so much to do' in D1? There were actually far less activities in D1. Story missions, Strikes, Nightfall, Patrols/Public Events, Crucible, Trials, Raids, Prison of Elders, and Archon's forge in D1 Vs Story missions, Strikes, Nightfall, Patrols/Public Events, Lost Sectors, Heroic adventures, Crucible, Raids, Forges, The Menagerie, Vex Offensive, Blind Well, Escalation Protocol, Dungeons, Gambit, Gambit Prime, and Reckoning in D2. So idk what you mean when you say 'there was so much to do!'. I'm 90% sure it's just the nostalgia talking.

              • Loot is very disappointing. Agree that the new missions are very small. What you didn’t wear your psion cloak?? that was my favourite armour piece in D1 and wore it all the time.

                • I disagree. I’ve been gone for over 3 months..I’m not coming back lol. Especially after seeing what Shadowkeep has to “offer” and the future of destiny looking worse and worse. It’s going to have to be something MUCH more course changing than...more grind of the same grind since forsaken launch.

Armor 2.0 sucks. It's way too expensive to masterwork anything. Why change it if you're just gonna make it worse? Just give us the D1 armor system with Intellect/Discipline/Strength, and put Mobility, Armor, Recovery adjustments back in skill trees, where they belong. Keep the mods. Stop making things annoying. Also, there was literally no point in changing the infusion system from what it was in Year 3 of D1. We could level up all of our characters with gear from any class. We didn't have to make Destiny a job to progress. We also had faction packages that were guaranteed to be above our light level. What happened to those?

                  • The pinnacle destiny experience was around House of Wolves, ever since it has been slowly dying due to being choked with the leash artificial grind. Don’t get me wrong there’s been some great activities and events but that unneeded grind is always there lurking

                      • blah blah lots of filler blah blah Its annoying that every time some one wants to criticize the game here they have to read off their credentials like public official before they feel like they can even criticize this terrible game franchise. You're exaggerating how everything went in Destiny because you have your nostalgic glasses on. People raved and ranted about how terrible takek king was weeks after its launch just like they did for every other expansion up until now. It's a cycle. This DLC was enjoyable to those who enjoyed it because it included a lot of things that were made specifically for the gullable people that will buy any Bungie product without being critical of its existence.

                        • I give Shadowkeep a solid B rating. The campaign had high and low points. A little more exposition would have been appreciated and the ending was strangely abrupt. Luna is largely reused assets, which bugs me a little. However, the redesigns show some quality work. I like the fresh coat of paint but I would have liked more new areas. I wish I was exploring more of the actual keep instead of Archer’s Line all over again. The more I get used to armor 2.0 and mods the more I like it, but next season will undoubtedly come with tweaks because this sort of feels like Armor 2.0 Beta. I don’t necessarily have a problem with that because it’s a complicated system that I expected to evolve with time. I haven’t done much endgame yet, but I like the way nightfalls have been restructured when I look at it. The raid is getting mostly good reviews based on what I’ve seen. The battle pass is fine, eververse is fine. Microtransactions are over priced but not predatory like other games. The quality of the dungeon and quality of Festival of the Lost will be big “make or break” points for me. Bungie stands much to potentially gain or lose depending on how the season unfolds.

Hello fellow veteran. So I didn't log into bungie.net until way after d1 released. ( I'm a pleb and didn't know it existed XD ) I played the d1 beta, played all of d1, collected rare cloaks for my hunter... D2, same things but I've enjoyed d2 lot, but shadow keep for me is 50/50 I love the following: Armour 2.0 allows you to tailor your gear to your playstyle and optimise your experience. However there are a few issues on master working armour being a resource heavy processing for people who don't know/don't have the time to do endgame activities ( I'll get to it in my dislikes in further detail) The new weapons are something to adapt with and grind more of... although the vex offensive weapons are the Curse of Osiris forge gear with random rolls and a new skin... yeah we noticed and I like it. Calls back to that short expansion. Activities have been revamped and adjusted for a better playable game... although it does ruin some stuff. The new power cap... oh boy lots of people will be 950 in no time! And some will stay 950. Solo comp... the people who do it thank you Dislikes: Lack of pinnacle gear to earn for casual players who don't have the time for raiding and or don't have a team as LFG is a FlusterCluck... Nightfall and the new raid are the only sources of getting pinnacle gear from the directory. This is particularly important... because again, not everyone plays religiously. For instance I can give you another way to give pinnacle gear... Master Rahool. Give him a weekly objective of decrypting 8 prime engrams per week to get pinnacle gear... so he can A. Be useful more and B. Alternatively disappointment guardians more by giving them edge transits and stuff you don't need. Transmog... although it is a fantastic idea, they didn't go all in. Which is understandable as they could be testing the waters. The eververse sets do look nice... but there were many sets including the rarest set to own ( ikora set from y1 ) that is so useless you should just dismantle it and forget it existed... save you the space in your vault. Kvostov... you teased us with nostalgia and you make it a white? You could have done a legendary variant or a exotic for guardians to find and harness its beautiful power. Infusion... why change a system that was already annoying for some people as they hadn't got the recourses? From 1 annoying system to another. You can earn them at a slow rate OR you can buy them from Banshee which was a good idea. Regardless fellow veteran. Your friendly non toxic support hunter says. Have a good gaming experience! Just to let people know I joke about being a veteran... D1 was a mess at first and eventually became a decent game. But that doesn't change my opinion that I liked that game. Same with d2. I don't know why people have to put their credentials... does it make your opinion more valid? No. You are one of many guardians and EVERYONES opinions matter. Apart from those who refunded shadowkeep during the time crota pulled bungies ethernet cable. Regardless if you read this, have a good day/night.

                            • I think Destiny 2 new light is a nice step in the right direction, i really the seasonal progression and artifact, but i think Shadowkeep itself is a disappointment, it is clearly not as good as Forsaken.

                            •
I will still play this game.[ quote]Those people who say they are done, will eventually come back to play this game. That's just how it is. Only reason I come back after saying I’m done is cause my OCD says to finish what I started. I started D1 and saw it thru to the end. D2 is no different, I started it, I’m gonna see it thru. Now Destiny 3 however, I probably won’t get if Bungie keeps reskinning he same ole Weapons and calling it new, then I’m most likely done with the series. I play games to get unique looking Weapons, not reskins like Vex Offensive Weapons are. Literally the Weapons are Curse of Osiris Weapons just with leafs on them. Oh yeah, so unique. Bungie needs to fire their design team and get some people that will put some thought in designing unique looking Weapons.
• This is pretty similar to how I feel, most content drops give you a couple of days of new stuff then it's back to the old milestones. This concept of rolling out content slowly throughout the season is kinda bs too. Beyond the dungeon, all we're getting is more difficulty levels and a couple of exotic quests (can't wait to kill 100 enemies, make orbs of light and do a high level strike, honest) so essentially we have everything now.
