How do you finish firing the MAC cannon on Legendary?
I've tried a dozen times, I can't seem to figure out the secret to destroying the Covenant cruiser on Legendary. I know you shoot the middle, that's not an issue. The issue I'm having is surviving long enough for it to arrive. There are just far too many banshees and dropships to keep up with using the slow rate of fire and turning radius. I just get swarmed and my shields drop so fast that I die before the cruiser is anywhere near.
Wat do?

Get the drop shield AA Kill off 5 or 6 phantoms at first get out. Wait a bit and the cruiser will move into place. Charge and fire one round at the cruiser. And profit.

I hide under the cannon until the cruiser is in place, then jump in and fire it.

Get the Hologram, and hide behind the Cannon. Just send the Hologram into the open over and over to attract fire, until Keyes orders you to attack the Cruiser.

Shoot only at enemy aircraft until the cruiser is right on top of you. Prioritise banshees over phantoms, and always down the closest enemies first. You can often take out more than one banshee if you hit the area between them, saving you time. Once you do it you'll realise it wasn't so hard!

heres the trick, get into the MAC gun, then immediatly get out, hide in cover for a while, then when keys tells you to kill the cruiser, jump in and quickly kill it.

Hide your ass untill the red thing comes closer. Stand behind the mac gun, untill you hear Keys say: Take the shoot now leuitant or something.

first, make sure you have a drop shield. second, fire at banshees first and then the phantoms that are firing third, if you get hit enough times, get out of the MAC cannon and use the drop shield. last, when the cruiser comes into position, dont worry about any other ships like phantoms and banshees.

Those Elites are annoying as hell but the MAC gun was easy surviving was easy too in that thing died 4 times at those elites 0 at MAC gun you just need to act was first shoot the banshees then the dropships

Hide behind the wall, don't actually get into the MAC Cannon until it's time to destroy the cruiser.

LOL, yea just wait for Keyes says to fire and then fire. Took me forever to get past those 3/4 eilites though, I died like 100 times. No good weapons against double elites + fuelrod=death.

rofl. ok heres how i did it, but its kindof cheap. get a dropshield, then do all the fighting, then get in the mac gun and kill as much as you can, once your shields are pretty much screwed get out a hide, once keyes says to shoot the carrier get in an hold the trigger, the second your able aim for the red glowing hole in the carrier and you should be about ready to fire by then, and that worked for me. i didnt even plan it, i just said f--k it, got out, and then he told me to shoot it :P

Don't listen to all these nubs lacking the skill to finish the mission the legitimate way, they didn't really complete the campaign legendary. What you want to do, is learn where the enemy ships will be at. Play it over and over until you know where what ship will come up and take it down immediately. Also, take down banshees first =P It should take you maybe 10-15 times doing it this way.

It took me about 10 tries when I first beat the campaign solo on Legendary (360 Gamerscore at once after I beat it) But what I did was memorize where each Covenant ship comes in in order, then systematically destroy them. Worked for me when I only had 3 health left.

Just finished it last night, for me: Banshees are 1st priority Then drop ships in the distance Shoot the drop ships coming in from the sides after they have shot you a few times, don't shoot them immediately or you'll let the ones in the distance get close enough. It's really learning the pattern they come in.

Only fire one time. Don't hop in the gun until the cruiser is in range. You'll hear some kind of prompt from an NPC if I remember right.

You can just camp behind the cannon and wait for the cruiser to get in place. When you hear Keye tell you to shoot, you get it and, well, shoot.

i hid down the stairs out of the line of fire of the banhess and phantoms and when the cruiser was in range i bolted over to the cannon and took the kill shot

Play it enough times to commit the sequence of phantoms and banshees to memory and have a fast enough trigger finger to hit them all or... jump in the gun, immediately climb back out and hide behind it until the cruiser comes into range (use drop shield if you want to be extra safe from the phantoms' plasma turrets.) As soon as Keyes gives you the command, climb back in and make the shot.

I memorized where the phantoms flew in and then you take em all out, took a few tries but by the end I got it. keep an eye for the ones that show up on the far left and the very top of the screen.

i hid til he says fire then jumped on cannon and blasted you got to take out a couple drop ships b4 hiding

Lots of timing, there are only a few real threats on that part, and you can time it so you can take them out easily.

Just try not to waste any shots, make sure you always get the banshees and the phantoms that drop from the top left. It took me a while the first time, but became a breeze after a few tries.

hide behind the cannon til they tell you to take the shot at the cruiser then climb in and fire at the cruiser fast and you will get it it worked good for me good luck
