Hi, I'm colorblind. I struggle to see certain shades of red, green, and sometimes purple. For those that don't understand what this may be like, just imagine everything is either very faded or blends in to backgrounds. God forbid its a bright map; UI and reticles are entirely invisible.
Destiny currently has some colorblind settings, but I find it to be basically useless with the exception of the option to change the color of my radar. On PC, players have the option of changing reticle colors that console players don't have.
I'm a console player. I would like this feature.
But it wouldn't solve the problem entirely...
A lot of sights on weapons are... you guessed it. RED. It's super difficult for me to use any gun that has red sights (Most handcannons and other weapons). For example I literally can not use Lumina because of its sights. Could we perhaps have the option to fine tune the color of sights as well? I would like to change my sights and other UI elements to a bright, neon, banana yellow or a bright blue as I can see those very easily. Thank you.
Edit: thanks fellow Guardians. The support is appreciated.
Edit #2: Thanks again guys. Heres more clarification on what color blindness is like for me. Idk, you might find it interesting.
You know how when you start a game for the first time it asks you to adjust the brightness by making the picture just barely visible? I'll have it just a few notches higher than most people because darker colors blend in sooner for me. This is also applicable to the red holo sights that most guns share. If the backdrop is on the brighter side, I'll have trouble seeing it because it's some weird see-through red. It's the contrast between the reticle and what's around it that makes it hard to see. The cones in my eyes aren't as sensitive to the colors red and green like people without the condition. Honestly if it were just solid red and not holo-see-through red id probably be fine.
BUT
I can still see red and green. My shader is actually the New Monarchy red/gold shader. Color blindness is not a literal term (except in extreme cases). It moreso describes the inability to differentiate SHADES of colors. All reds within a given range will look the same to me. Whereas other people will slowly see the individual changes from dark red to light red. Same with greens.
I can still see red, I just can't see all the reds. They're all the same except the darkest shades which may blend in with black entirely.

Sweet! Bungie finally came through with the requested changes! Thanks everyone!

Edited by Cozmo_BNG: 10/10/2019 12:10:46 AMThanks for the feedback. We are always working to improve accessibility settings. I'll pass along your request on both reticle colors for the console, and color of weapon sights to the team.

Hi Colorblind Guardian, I'm Dad. Seriously though, I don't get why a AAA game is not filled with accessibility options. In BF4, we were able to customize both the hip-fire reticle, and the red-dot/sight on the gun, to be the color precisely what we want, broken up into customizable RGB percentages, at least on PC. This should be available for every AAA game out there, if for nothing else, then for the customization, but it would help colorblind people a great deal too.

I'm not colorblind, but some sights and ui elements are annoying as -blam!- (especially red) to use regardless. I would love to have the option to change the sights and ui colors.
-
Agreed.. not just for your condition, but this should be a feature in general. Hope they listen and address this soon. It can even be a global change and not per weapon.
-
I'm not color blind but the reticles get lost for me every once in a while. Having helped my my color blind father for most of my life, I can understand how you simply can't see them. They really should do something about it. Good luck. :)

Not colorblind, but bumping for support.

Hey just a suggestion that is possible a short term fix until they can implement something. I have seen these videos on YouTube where people have gotten these special glasses for color blind people and they see all the colors as if you weren't color blind. Maybe look into those, could help?
-
Help this and other color blind guardians out. We want everyone to be able to experience the world of Destiny.
-
Bump. Everyone deserves to play on equal footing and enjoy their experience. I hope bungie addresses this soon brother.
-
Me just excited at the thought of finally having a hot pink reticle

This sounds like a great idea. I have bad enough aim as it is, I can’t imagine what it would be like if the sights are nearly invisible.

Edited by l Cadi l: 10/9/2019 5:22:32 PMin the meantime i highly recommend picking up some small circular clear stickers and a bottle of cheap metallic nail polish in a color you can see well against a variety of backgrounds. just hold down your ads trigger, carefully place the sticker so as not to get fingerprints on it, get out any bubbles, and put a small dab of nail polish directly over the reticle dot about the same size. i did this while learning to quickscope with snipers and even as a non color blind individual it made a world of difference. you can get everything you need for under $10 on amazon

Bungie please give this gentleman what he wants. Droughboi You make some valid points and i agree that eververse must be removed from this game but, Whether we wanted it or not, we've stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let's get to taking out their command, one by one. Valus Ta'aurc. From what I can gather, he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank just outside of Rubicon. He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold.

Maybe they could sell you a new reticle color for silver?

Edited by CGDavis: 10/10/2019 8:48:59 PMThanks again guys. Sone good people in here.

Yes this has been a huge problem for me for a long time and I have made the same requests many times. I am definitely with you on this.

Gaming monitors usually have an option for an onscreen display. Mine is red or green - which can be of some use depending of your type of colorblindness. I’m sure higher end monitors have more colors.

Edited by torch327: 10/10/2019 2:16:44 AMWhile I want to upvote I can't. Games dow what they can to accommodate various handicaps which is way more than most employers are obligated to. Before you buy a product maybe you should play the free version of it to make sure it fits your handicap. This isn't me being an elitist either. My younger sister is 46 and operates on a 12 year old level. I don't expect games like this to cater to her handicap because either my father or myself couldn't properly investigate the requirements. Not all games can be created equally for all gamers just like not all jobs can be created equally. edit: While I'm not color blind, my vision is far from perfect requiring me to where prescription glasses in order to be able to see with 20/20 vision. I did a quick google search earlier and what I linked in another reply didn't really fit all people's ability to implement. I did another google search because it dawned on me that my new eye doctor did a color blind test so he knew if he was going to need to do a color blind correction in my prescription and found these. I read some reviews on Amazon and they seem to work pretty well. Since this seems to be a correctable condition, no I don't think a game developer needs to invest extra time and resources into adding a feature to a videogame for a condition that can be corrected.

BUMPED I hope a feature gets added f0r you bud

Edited by T3A Complete: 10/9/2019 6:44:27 PMTotally in support of this feature. Should have been there from the beginning. FYI, I see fine but feel Bungie should notice and act accordingly.
-
Seconded. The fact that turning on color blind settings changes the color of the glow on Gambit armor but not on scopes is pretty funny to me.

Dude, Did you even see the red legion

Edited by Farco69: 10/9/2019 9:17:07 PMSo you missed majority of D2s original campaign then? The red war would have just been "the war" for you.
sorry❤️💛💙💜💚
