Zavala is acting unusually nice

Like I know the meme is that we hate Zavala and that the edgy Dredgen's say he should be voted off the vanguard... But in shadowkeep he's shockingly chill Like he organized the assault on the moon, he's totally fine with you helping Eris, he actually congratulates you and tells you how proud he is after we face the darkness, he puts us in charge of fighting back against the Vex on Luna and actually listened to us about the coming darkness. Do you think the writing team is trying to get us to forgive Zavala? Because it feels like they're trying to get us to forgive Zavala

        • That’s because he’s soft. That fool wanted to jump ship long ago. That isn’t a real Titan. He most certainly has hunter blood running through his veins wanting to tuck tail and run away all the time. Bottom Fragger!

          • Forgive Zavala? For what? Not invading a foreign nation over the death of one man, and leaving the City defenseless in the process? A move that would have been really bad considering that events like Zero Hour show that the City is still under direct threat? There's a military difference between dropping Guardians in the Queen's territory without her consent to kill her brother, and fending off an invasion on our metaphorical shores. For not trusting Ana and Rasputin, when the former is irresponsible enough to go AWOL for decades - ignoring situations where the City needed her most in order to unsuccessfully piece together her past - and the latter has protocols like Midnight Exigent which allow it to place humanity at a lower priority, which is mildly concerning given its "I'm pretty much a god, I'll do whatever I feel like" speech at the end of Warmind? Or is it for reprimanding The Guardian that one time for just wandering off and running Ana's errands for a few weeks? I'm genuinely - not even being facetious here - wondering what wrong he's done.

            • Well of course he is, it's the hive on a place that's relatively close to The City. Just after our presence on Mars was noticed he decided to step into war with the Cabal on Mars. Zavala's a good military leader but a poor politician and it's about time that the writers write into the game.
Though even then, I wonder why his huge force of Hawks decided to bugger off after the fist mission, we could have used the support during the Hashtag Lagoon (this is what my older sister read her name as first time she saw it) strike. (speaking of that strike area, wouldn't be cool if during a second strike in the same area if we planted explosives everywhere and had to escape to the Lunar Battlegrounds where we fight the Nightmare of Xol (Essence of Will)
• People hated on Zavala for no reason. He the freaking leader of the guardians. He unfortunately didn't have time to avenge cayde. Which is understandable, but most people didnt used their brains and deemed him a coward but hey im just a titan, what do i know

              • Well, a mass congregation of darkness on the moon and a full system vex invasion do seem a little high on the "take care of" list. He probably had those written in red, with little exclamation points next to them.

                  • I've never had a problem with Zavala as a character. He's conservative, pragmatic and loves the Last City and it's people. He was clearly affected by Cayde's death, but could not countenance risking more lives in an all-out war for the sake of one man. Especially given what the Guardians and Last City had just endured in the Red War. Especially since his decision to rally on Titan led to who-knows-how-many deaths. I mean, short as it was, the death toll from the Red War must have been mind-boggling: sanctioning a campaign against Uldren and the Scorn would be like finishing World War 1 and then immediately diving into another war whilst your forces were still recovering. Ikora, I think has always been my favourite of the Vanguard, though. She is pragmatic and intelligent, but also strong-willed and not afraid to get her hands dirty. Plus, she has a really interesting history, lore-wise.

                    • I don’t think he’s done anything bad, he’s just a “rules are rules” kind of guy. Of course I still dislike him, but still. Another thing I wanted to point out is the consistent lapse of judgement Ikora has been showing off. Letting only Eris go to a place that may screw us all over is a huge one.

The Speaker: The stories tell of a golden age long ago, when our civilization spanned the system. It was a bright and hopeful time. But it didn't last. Something hit us. Knocked us down and tried to stamp us out. No one knows exactly what, but we do know this: very few of us survived, and those that did owe their lives to the The Traveler. Legends say The Traveler sacrificed itself to save us. The mysterious sphere still hangs where it made its last stand, low above the Earth, keeping silent watch. The years that followed the collapse of the golden age were hard, but slowly we joined together to build a city beneath The Traveler. And now we've begun to venture back into the wild, only to find that we're not alone. Strange and deadly creatures have occupied our old worlds. And they're pressing hard against The City, probing for a weakness, trying to stamp us out for good. Your story begins at this moment of great adventure and peril. You are a Guardian of The City; a soldier able to wield some of The Traveler's incredible power. If you can find a way to save The City - to reclaim all that we have lost - you will become legend. If you fail, the last light of civilization will go out! The stories tell of a golden age long ago, when our civilization spanned the system. It was a bright and hopeful time. But it didn't last. • I think he’s just chilled now. Look at ikora, she used to be so confident and now she’s turned into a high strong warlock. The red war messed with the guardians cannonly and I think cayde’s death messed with his friends. I mean it’s cannon Zavala and ikora are messing around, I can more than bet cayde was messing around with them too.
