So...I’m surprised this has come up.
The Darkness says something and we are supposed to just believe it?
Most curious. Considering it said something similar to Oryx before trying to betray him.
This question of if the Traveler is good or not stems from a simple fact. The Traveler doesn’t intervene to help, with the exception of us.
It does good things. Not saving civilizations doesn’t make it bad, that’s assuming it could stop their destruction if it wanted too.
Look at what happened when it did stop to fight and help. It lost.
No tie or stalemate. It got its butt kicked into a near death coma that almost led to its death (base 1 black garden). So doesn’t that prove it had no choice but to flee in the past?
The Ships came, won and left. For their own reasons but not one has anything to do with them losing that fight.
Which parallels the Traveler allowing the Worm Gods to survive and eventually escape to bring back the Darkness.
There is a much larger game going on we know nothing about.
The big take away from what we just learned is that this isn’t the first time one of them has been here. Which can also mean so has the other. Since they seem to chase each other.
That’s a first. We haven’t seen either side revisit a previously visited civilization or planet. Usually because there is nothing left to revisit....
Right there should be the focus. What makes us so special?

Quick correction. The Darkness has never attempted to betray Oryx directly.
