And why would Bungie be in charge of censoring Steam names? This is a Steam issue. Think it through

  • Sorry, but that isn't the case. This is Bungie's fault. Read this: https://ibb.co/LNt7kyg

  • I don't believe it for a second. If it wasn't censored while on Battlenet, why would it suddenly be censored when moving to Steam? Why would Bungie, a company with a long track record of supporting LGBTQ rights, start censoring words like this, conveniently at the same time as a move to Steam? Also, upon looking into the issue, the only thing I could find was your post on Steam detailing this issue. Either you are trying to cover for Steam, your source is not reliable, or your proof is altered.

Then explain this post: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/253740906?sort=0&page=0&path=1 Bungie is it's own entity now. Remember that they were partnered with Activision. In this link I've provided you, take notice to how they've edited their answer. They originally blamed Steam.. like you. Notice the comments, and the people saying that the responses they've gotten from Steam state that Steam can't do anything about it. Take notice to the fact that Steam isn't brand new. That my name, "Cravigore", and everyone else effected has never had our names censored in-game by Steam. Even Rocket League, which had this problem, was caused by the developers of Rocket League. Steam does not censor usernames like this. They investigate player reports of offensive names, and smite those players like that. They don't use shitty filters that knock out names like "Martin19", or "Gizmo". Edit: additionally, what the hell do I gain from Steam for trying to spread awareness of Bungie's problem? My old name is censored, and I'm upset about it. Damn well bet that if it were Steam, I'd be at them for censorship. No, it's Bungie. It's the only game I've had this problem with, and through Steam support, I know that it's not Steam's fault. With that link at the top it just confirms to me that this is Bungie's mistake. You should take into consideration that perhaps I'm just telling the truth as best I know it. Edit 2: To answer your question as to why they'd start censoring LGBT stuff.. I'd like to direct you to my list of censored character combinations: https://pastebin.com/VnyiRwVV It's obvious to me that they opted for a cheap filter solution to try and keep their game clean. It's like they didn't even check to see if it worked well. Just plucked a nice cheap program off the market, and implemented it assuming that it'd only get bad people. However, it's effecting tons of usernames. For instance no one may be named "Paladin", or have names involving the word "Trigger". The extent of the censorship is extreme, and I suspect it's like this for the benefit of their wallet.
