I'm sick of this misunderstanding from all these people complaining. Yes, I get your frustrations, I really do, but stop twisting how these whole procedures work.
The only reason previous Destiny content has ever worked across all your accounts on your system is because you bought the license for use from the PSN store, which is stored to your system as a whole. This is why I can have my friend come over, sign into his PSN, download every single game he owns onto my system, and I can play them. It's game-sharing. Sony handles the licenses of the PSN store. Bungie doesn't control this.
None of the current or upcoming seasonal pass expansions will be purchasable on PSN. Instead, they have been turned into silver purchases and are purchasable through Eververse through the account that did not buy the main Shadowkeep license. This means that there is no license attached to the seasonal pass content, meaning it's not going to be accessible across all your accounts, nor purchasable through PSN.
Bungie did not have to disclose this at all. I'm just going to leave it at that. You can argue it all you want, but if someone did file a lawsuit, Bungie would win easily.
Also, the most probable reason they did this is to actually satisfy what they said in the TWAB, which is seasonal pass content can be played across all systems (not accounts on systems). Meaning if you bought it on PS4 as your primary account, and then go to PC, you'll have the season pass. Because it's tied to the Eververse. This is also why you still have to buy the actual expansions, because those are licenses across every single different platform, which can't carry over.
I just got fed up with people distorting this whole situation. Flame me all you want. At least now you understand. The season pass is not licensed based. They're not going to change this. They don't need to. They won't be forced to. It will never be classified as false advertising. It's not a scam. Again, if they got into a legal battle, they'd win easily.
You just don't have to buy anything else from them. That's perfectly fine. Totally understandable. But you're never going to get the solution you want. I guarantee it.
Edit: Someone from reddit figured this out back in July.

1 ReplyRogue_Eagle You make some valid points and i agree that eververse must be removed from this game but, Whether we wanted it or not, we've stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let's get to taking out their command, one by one. Valus Ta'aurc. From what I can gather, he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank just outside of Rubicon. He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold.

36 RepliesEdited by brose_one: 10/3/2019 2:36:09 AMbullshit. Bungie drops a 2,000 word explanation about why Well of Radiance is being nerfed, but can't let players know that the way we purchase content is changing? even after the "outrage," Bungie isn't making this information known. desperation is Bungie's new meta. milking gamers is their endgame.

1 ReplyEdited by BraddyBo: 10/3/2019 6:51:49 PMIm 99% sure that the annual pass content can be gameshared but the seasonal pass (battle pass) cant be gameshared. So all playable content in Y3 can be shared but an additional $10 per season per additional account is required for each battle pass. I assumed that the battle pass couldnt be gameshared because they cant in other games but its really shady that the battle pass is the same price as a full season of content. Shadowkeep + annual pass 2.0 should have been $40-50 (gamesharable) with the 4 battle passes free for primary account then $5 each per additional account.

Edited by TimeSplitter510: 10/3/2019 6:56:29 PMAlso good to note that you can share the season pass across platforms with cross-save. This is not the case with expansions.

16 RepliesInteresting. So essentially they're putting all their DLCcontent or whatever to be only purchasable through their in game store to try and rake in more money from families/people that use multiple accounts? Seems like a pretty shady move to me tbh. Whether or not it brings them more money, you cant say it's morally right.
-
6 RepliesBullshit! This is a tactical move on Bungie's part. They have taken advantage of me, and others who had no idea how this would work, or have no prior knowledge of battle passes. Yes, MAYBE I could have thought this through and come to the conclusion that the pass wouldn't work on my alt (which is my main for D2) account prior to yesterday, but BNG should have plainly said 'those of you running alt accounts will need to buy the season pass on INDIVIDUAL accounts because it is now done through eververse' but no.. they Knew this would happen and have probably made a million dollars strong arming us. At least, that's how I feel about it. And I feel bad for those with multiple accounts in a family console that now need to unknowingly but season passes. Fukin stupid and awful communication. But lets make vidocs and interviews and promotional materials! Yeah....people's money doesnt matter.

Reputuble gaming companies keep their fans inform. A simple "Seasonal passes are non sharable but the Shadowkeep is sharable" isnt hard to write in the description. Alot of people might not know how the battle pass aka season pass system work because they might not play any battle royale games. I knew it wasnt going be sharable once they stated they were doing the battle pass system but again some might not. So you cant blame people for being confused by this.

4 RepliesI’m a little late to the game, just found out last night that hubby didn’t have the season pass after I purchased shadowkeep delux. Is the only difference between having the season pass and not having it the order of seasonal rewards? So the hubby is in “Free to play” mode and I’m in “Pay to win” mode?
-
Edited by ArmyKnight75: 10/3/2019 10:57:59 PMI’m not having any issue with this since I play on one account on my own PS4, but... I can understand the frustration of others when something that has not been an issue in the past suddenly changes and cause you not to be able to play on various accounts on the same system. The point is... is that Bungie should have expressly stated the change and what it meant. I would probably be pretty irritated if I were having this issue as well. Bungie should have ensured that this change was common knowledge.

So if RedditRando figured this out three months ago you can be damn sure Bungie knew how it would work. The ShadowKeep description in the PSN store makes zero disclosure of the fact that the season passes will now be given to only one account. The season passes are listed as game features in the exact same manner they were listed as features of the deluxe edition of Forsaken. Posts by customer reps on these forums then go on to state that while they will be tied to only one account the first account to log onto the purchase will receive the season passes. This is not how it's working.
-
bungie stated themselves saying the first account to log on gets the add-ons and season pass. this most definitely did not happen for me aka their system and set up failed (or was a success if it was planned scam). explain that by saying it's not bungie's fault.

Thanks for the info disgruntled Bungie employee

Edited by NoStatsHereMate: 10/3/2019 8:10:07 AM
This is why I can have my friend come over, sign into his PSN, download every single game he owns onto my system, and I can play them
No you can't. You can play them on his account. Or if his account has your console set as its primary, but you can't just download all your friends' libraries and have free rein on them... Stop defending Bungie's constant anti-consumerism. You should have the back of your fellow man, it's depressing to see people like you just gobbling up all of their bullshit and turning on anyone who sees through it. This is just more of Bungie's scummy tactics to drain a few extra bucks from the customers they pretend to care about.

18 RepliesEdited by 123TheCloop: 10/2/2019 3:32:13 PM'Bungie did not have to disclose this at all. I'm just going to leave it at that. You can argue it all you want, but if someone did file a lawsuit, Bungie would win easily.' Except they do, just a quick recap Sony allow family sharing/content sharing via primary accounts. its either the responsibility of Sony or Bungie to inform the customer what is/is not included with this sharing system. You may be fine with this but in the UK/EU this is straight up misleading the consumer which entitles anyone to a full refund regardless of it being digital or physical content. if there is no fine print upon purchase or upon payment page stating (SP or whatever is not sharable) this would be fine but sadly no one has stated this leaving the assumption up to the current system (family sharing) which currently states that it is possible. So as it stands you have one system saying yes to this and no one currently saying no. Last I checked they either enforce there own rules or they place a disclaimer upon purchase and refund anyone who was mislead by this move. It may be Ok in the US or wherever but we have consumer protection in the UK/EU and I expect it to be enforced correctly. and in the UK its not hard for anyone to file a complaint with the Financial Ombudsman who if found in favour of the claimant will get there money back+compensation. And just so your aware - https://store.playstation.com/en-us/product/UP0002-CUSA05042_00-D2SHADOWDLXPRE01?PlatformPrivacyWs1=exempt&psappver=19.05.0&scope=sceapp&smcid=psapp%3Alink%20menu%3Astore quote 'Software subject to license (us.playstation.com/softwarelicense). Online features require an account and are subject to terms of service and applicable privacy policy (playstationnetwork.com/terms-of-service & playstationnetwork.com/privacy-policy). One-time license fee for play on account’s designated primary PS4™ system and other PS4™ systems when signed in with that account.' Again because the SP is included with the purchase of Shadowkeep there must be a disclaimer excluding the SP from the sharing system which there is currently no mention of, therefor anything purchased within the shadowkeep DLC (SP also) is currently stated to be 'sharable' please know the difference between false advertisement because its clear you do not.

This was informative for those that don't know how the licenses work. But this is not on Sony, this Bungie's decision that changed how content is handled: from store bundled DLC to in-game store item Shadowkeep is advertised containing season pass or season passes in the case of Deluxe Edition. It is all "DLC". Nowhere it mention the "season pass" is unlincensed content taken apart from Shadowkeep standard or Deluxe Edition. Edited by Dano2point0: 10/3/2019 3:56:17 PMHey, we wanted Cross Save so bad and the collateral damage to all of that is people that gameshare don't get to mooch off one another anymore.

I personally love it. Mostly because people get mad over it though.
-
3 RepliesSo people thought if they bought the season pass they could share it on different accounts? I really don't know what's going on.
-
9 Repliesthis was intentional to prevent sharing. Game sharing is intended for same household, bungie really screwed over anyone using it as intended. There is absolutely no reason for them not to include a downloaded license file off the store, that would solve everyone's issue.
