PSA: Having over 300 friends will crash game on login
If anyone is having issues crashing to the desktop right before they get to the character selection screen, this is caused by having over 300 steam friends. Its well documented on the steam discussion forums.

This is like the worst reason for a game to crash. I would have to delete 100+ people... And worst is, I heard about this because of comment section on Fb. Someone luckily responded.

1 ReplySame boat here. No acknowledgement from any team at this point. Will upvote any posts relating to it. Offline Mode and disabling Steam UI in game do nothing either. I am not deleting any friends for this.
