scratched halo reach disc, help!

I was going to play some halo reach and then I noticed a HUGE circular scratch around the disk, like almost near the outside. I tried playing it and then it got to the beginning loading screen on reach, then just a big green screen.... the entire tv was green.... I tried washing it on my shirt, washing it in water, i really don't know what to do.... i tried googling some stuff but i can only find crap that'll work some of the time... since u all play video games (and the specific game that was scratched), I thought you all could help.... any suggestions?

 •
Posted by: Sir N00BICUS wouldn't that be abused? everyone would just copy games to the h-drive then return them
No, because the disc needs to be in the drive to play.

 •
Posted by: Sir N00BICUS wouldn't that be abused? everyone would just copy games to the h-drive then return them
You still need the game in the console to verify that you own the game. But if you install your unreadable copy to the HDD it will not work still as the copy on your HDD is corrupted as well. If you rent one from a game store and installed the working copy to the HDD and returned it, you can use your unreadable copy of the game to start it up with no problems. Even if it's installed, the game wont work without a disc

Hilarious Don't do tooth paste though, most tooth paste has abrasive material in it (for scrubbing teeth) that will actually cause further damage to your disc.

 • Gonna sound weird, but this worked for one of my scratched PlayStation games: 1. Get some plain white toothpaste (no little mint beads, no gel, just plain toothpaste) 2. Wipe the disc with a soft cloth and then apply a very small amount of toothpaste to the scratch 3. Use a damp soft cloth and rub from one end of the scratch to the other (don't be afraid to really rub it in) 4. After 3ish minutes, wash the disc off and wipe off all of the remaining toothpaste 5. Dry it with a dry soft cloth Sounds really dumb, but it works. Just be sure to apply a consistent amount of force the whole time.

 • I have a CD store in my town that removes scratches. To that point, progressively less grainy sandpaper Start with something high grit and than end with a peice of paper or cloth... The place in town uses a really fast buffer, it just removes a layer of the plastic until it's smooth again another Idea is to use some toothpaste with floride in it, because it's grainy, you just rub it around until the scratch isn't visible any more

 • I'm very sorry to hear this, but I'm afaid your going to have to buy a new copy. This same thing happened to my halo 3 mythic disc. I know that this sounds crazy, but don't keep any of your xbox 360 discs inside there cases. Everytime you take them in and out they end up being bent and eventually crack. The game should still be in the warrenty(90 days)
